    As an AO with an A-4E squadron out there at the time, i compliment you on this presentation. Point of clarification, however, the standard ordnance load for these aircraft was two 500# bombs mounted on TERs on each inboard wing pylon and one 500# bomb on each of the outb'd pylons. 250s were mounted on the inb'd rack of the TER and a 500 gallon drop fuel tank was carried on the centerline bomb rack.

      Thank you for your comment! Regarding the weapons load, I was using the illustration in Osprey's Air Campaign which showed the configuration that I used in the video. But it is possible that was just the artist's impression and not a real load. Historic accounts rarely give all the details so some level of guessing is always needed. But I will remember this for some future videos, thanks!

      @@showtime112 A-4 squadrons were issued a few 6-rack multiple ejection racks (MER) but these were never used as the plane would likely go into the water at launch. Instead, we wrestled the dam things up onto hooks welded high up on the hangar deck bulkhead when we checked onboard and took 'em down when we left the ship and went back to Lemoore NAS. (Go NAVY!)

      @@lbbradley55 An A-4E and up with a long runway could get off the ground and fly with up to about 6500 pounds loaded thus: 6 - 500# on a centerline MER (multiple ejection rack) for a total 3000#, 2 - 500# and 1 - 250# on TERs (triple ejection rack) hung on each of the inboard wing pylons for a total of 2500 pounds and one 500# bomb on each outboard wing pylon for an additional 1000 pounds. The 250 pounders mounted on the inboard shackles of the inboard wing pylon TERs could be 500 pounders for an additional 500 pounds making a 7000# grand total, but we loaded the 250s because the main landing gear doors would come into contact with the fatter 500 pounder when open.

    There was a bridge called the “dragon jaw”. I read it on time life books, before internet. They kept on bombing it, but they kept on repairing it, so they had a lot of jets especially F-4’s with laser guided bombs and finally brought it down completely. The bridge was part of a major route for supplies to the south.

      @mandellorian Washington was calling the shots in Vietnam, that’s why nothing was being done. We won basically all the battles in Vietnam, but the problem is once the U.S took over a Vietnamese base, they abandoned it, and the North Vietnamese took over again. Very bad planning, plus we the “ Americans” were fighting three countries. Russia 🇷🇺 China 🇨🇳 and North Vietnam 🇻🇳

      @mandellorian I’m glad the war is over. We lost.I accept it. It was a horrific war with millions dead and horrible things happening . I heard that whenever “Democracy” was in danger we “ The U.S” was going to help that country, just like “ The Korean War” South Vietnam asked for help.. we gave it to them also. We trained the South, just like we helped the Afghanistan 🇦🇫 soldiers. Turns out, they ran away. We stayed in South Vietnam for a long time, just like Afghanistan, but the war here in the states was becoming very unpopular, same with the Afghanistan war. “We can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink”. The south Vietnamese soldiers did the same as the Afghanistan army.

If you check Osprey's A-4 Skyhawk Units of The Vietnam War, you can see that from 1967 on, the hump is there on the E model too. The real problem was that President Johnson and McNamara controlled the targeting. You couldn't shoot at Migs before they were airborne, so no bombing the bases and runways. You couldn't hit the storage areas for SAMs, as those were in populated areas. When Jane Fonda showed us bombing a hospital, it was actually the assembly building for the SAM guidance systems. Yeah, Purple Haze or something like that would be perfect. Unfortunately, you can't use that due to copyright issues. In an extreme case, you can even get a copyright strike. Three of those and your channel is closed.
      But maybe someday I will even be able to afford to buy rights for that kind of music 😉

    • @showtime112
      @showtime112  3 роки тому

      Yes and no. It is much simpler than more modern types such as F-18 but it still gives you a true high fidelity clickable experience. It's got a realistic flight model now, but wirhout computer control which means it is easier to make a mistake. If you are not sure if you want to spend money on this simulation and you want to fly a western plane, A-4 is a great choice.

      You are talking about the conflict between Ethiopia and Eritrea? The topic was covered by the GR (and not in their usual bad way 😁) . Also, there's no Eritrean MiG-29 skin.

    Showtime112 I like to mention to you, why the Rolling Thunder Bombing Campaign on North Vietnam was a failure by the US Government the LBJ adminstration would give information of the flight and times of bombing raids by Switzerland to the North Vietnamese to prevent civilian deaths, instead the North Vietnamese would armed the Civilians in the area with 51 cal heavy M.G and Mosin and K 98 rifles to shoot at the planes, Secretary of State Dean Rusk admited doing this on 10000 Days War program T.V with Peter Arnett show how despicable the towards there own people the leadership is on both sides.
