I know this video might be old,. But for me, so far it's been like gold. I have repaired so many EMs over the years but with SS,. Very little as I knew not to jump into things I had no idea about. This video you take the time to show everything from tools to parts and it really helps. I do wish you would have stayed on the rectifiers longer but I will keep looking in your videos. Thanks again.
Heya Ron, wow thanks so much for pulling out and bringing to life one of my old time faves as a kid.
Brings back so many great memories & those words "chock em up" lol.
Apologies, still going through your videos since the system 11 one as I've been swamped with long work days due to preparing sites for the Christmas shutdown.
Hope you, all your bothers, families & all the teams have been really awesome!
Thanks for watching John, this was definitely a great game! Merry Christmas!
One of my favorite videos of yours was when you painted the eight ball play field, I think that was last year. I’m happy to see another one!
I think I did a couple of them, I'm working on panting another "Jubilee" now, the neon green is giving me problems!
There's fixing something...then there's fixing something CORRECTLY. One reason why I like your vids is that you take the extra time to fix things properly.
And you have to love that side art...maybe the nicest I've seen so far in your vids?
"Anything worth doing is worth doing right." Ron takes pride in his work... he treats each machine as if he was going to put it in his own personal collection. I'm sure that after years of experience, he's developed a few shortcuts to save time, but none of those shortcuts affect the quality of the repairs.
What a perfect year, I turned 11 in July
It was a very good year!
I can't wait to see you work on an eight ball deluxe. The one machine I want
I just wanted to say I thought your joke about who landed on the moon was great. I got a big chuckle out of that. Keep up the great videos.
That same country missed Mars costing $1B due to an incorrect conversion from metric to “moon” units. Thanks to Jimmy Carter for killing our conversion to metric. Not a great president but a truly great ex-president. I hope he lives forever, got to love someone who beats brain cancer.
Check this video it is also very funny ua-cam.com/video/hid7EJkwDNk/v-deo.html
The chief architect of the Saturn V, Wernher von Braun, a German who also lead developed rocket technology in Nazi Germany. He despised the English and hence their imperial units so much that he used metric. All the science and math for the NASA space program was all done in metric and they only converted to imperial for manufacturing.
@@stephenwhite506 I enjoyed the video. Some areas were poorly reasoned but the point is made, “let’s all get to one set of units.” At least until another break through in science takes us on a different path. Should be easier to change the mind of three countries than the balance of the world, right?
Eight ball deluxe was MY machine, introduced me to the world of pinball
I've gone one in storage but it's in really bad shape, it needs a new playfield overlay installed!
Starting off with a pinball repair.... sorry ... a pinball restoration (it just sounds more posh ;-) ) before my vacation starts..... i LOVE it :D Will be very much enjoying this, thank you very much! :)
Ballyhoo and a lot of those pre-war games were essentially pachinko machines that were horizontal rather than vertical as in the Japanese game.
They have an 8-Ball at the Richmond Pinball Collective. Wow, the game is bouncy, random, and chaotic. Love using this pin to practice controlling the ball. Of course, my favorite shot is ripping the spinner on the fly when it is lit for a 1000 per spin. Want to improve you pin skills, try Eight Ball. I've also found Roller Disco to be excellent for learning patience and controlling the ball.
Another fantastic project.....real entertaining video.....and it will i am sure put another classic back out there to be enjoyed....cheers
Considering it's a rush job, It's nice that you start with something that works (mostly)... as opposed to a train wreck.
It decided to cooperate with us!
I love your pinball repair videos. Get to see how they work and everything. Think my favorite so far this year is a tie between Evel Kenevel and the batter up ones :)
Great job putting that connector right Ron, ya did the right thing...your a legend !...can't wait to see it play ! ...cheers.
One of my favroites along with Fireball 2.
Great machine and a super pin crimping tutorial!
Thanks Whamtan!
One of our operators has this on location in the pinball room at the bowling alley. This and 8 Ball Deluxe does really well for him (when the place was fully operational. We'll get back there soon). Thanks again for the great walk through video. Looking forward the series.
Ron to the rescue! And yep 2nd thing I noticed is that it definitely looks like The Fonz on that kicker. But noticed that chick on the other kicker must be a little chilly, if you know what I mean...
It's downright Nippy in there!
Love this machine. I drove 9 hours one way to mine.
The metric spacings are 3,96mm and 2,54mm respectively. I think the former is just sold as 4mm, The latter is a very widely applied standard from microchips to protoboards and hard drive cables etc.
Great game 👍I have 8ball Deluxe need some love also😁
I like your attitude towards other peoples repairs. I hate it when repair people badmouth previous repairs and then themselves do something like: "I didn't have a 10 million billion uF cap, so I soldered together 10 million billion 1uF caps in order to create one."
:-) The Moon, I didn't know Myanmar were on the Moon...
They don't count
We like!!! 👍👍👍
I dropped a lot of quarters in one of these back in the day!
So did I. I think almost every arcade I went in had one. (Not every arcade had _any_ pinball machines because they didn't have enough room. But the ones that did, always seemed to have one of these.)
This game was addictive even though it's a bit of a drain-o-matic. :D
I've noticed everybody always says every single game drains a lot, it's almost like everytime you lose the ball, it's either because it got past the flippers or went down one of the outlanes! Why do they design these things like that?????
@@LyonsArcade More quarters inserted into slots. :D
Muahahaha! I agree about the metric system and i don´t take offense, even if i´m from Sweden. Thanks for a great video Ron and Joe.
Thanks MrVectrex, we appreciate you tuning in over there, isn't it past your bedtime though???!!!!????? Oh wait I just did the math it's just the evening, lol
@@LyonsArcade Hahaha! It was past my bedtime 50 years agoo! At least in time we are 6 hours before you! 😂
It's 1977, so naturally the pool player looks like Fonzie.
Lol that's funny, the first thing I thought of was Jim Carey.
I needed to buy new metric adjustable spanners when the UK changed over
It was a sad, sad day!
Much better wiring! Is it just me or the lady in the playfield looks a bit like Princess Leia? Being a machine from the same time Star Wars was released...
I can see it definitely, they were ripping off whatever they could back then :) Thanks for watching Fernando!
sure the ones that used the metric system came up withe whole Technologie and if memory serves corect i believe the Boss of the Show Werner von Braun was German
full bridge rectifier
I do take off the mylar but I do it slowly.
I use the freeze method.
The key is do it slowly and do not rush taking it off.
I remove it due to it looking bad anyways the stuff I have taken off is dirty under it and already starting to come up any ways.
What’s the oldest machine you’ve taken it off?
@@LyonsArcade So far it has been my High-Speed that was a trash bin when I got it. It was my first full restore. :)
Heyyyy. How's it play? I love the pool table playfield. Very cool.
What is a fair price to buy a restored Eight Ball? . i liked the action at the top on this one. i want one.
We sold this one for $1800
The
Lyons Arcade site for your shop seems to be not working right now.
I noticed that last night but thought it was just a temporary thing, apparently the "asp.net" going on in the background had stopped working and needed to be cleared out, the hosting company fixed it, thanks for letting us know about it!
@@LyonsArcade No problem! Glad I was able to bring it to your attention.
I miss the braless 70's pinball women.
They're all probably grandmas now!
@@LyonsArcade Haha, you just ruined it for me.
Great joke! Too bad for me I just had hernia surgery! Well worth the pain! :D
Just like we won't talk about how the Imperial system caused the Mars Climate Orbiter to burn up after a 10 month journey.
;)
Hey you win some you lose some...
Although let's put credit where it's due... the problem was not at JPL's end. They were using metric all along. The initial problem was with the subcontractors at Lockheed Martin that built the spacecraft. They were _supposed_ to use metric units, but apparently there was a failure in communication, and they used Imperial units instead, like the rest of the aircraft industry. (Then the engineers at JPL failed to notice that they were having to make too many course corrections...)
@@SpearM3064 very true, still, this exact incident is why metric is mandated to be the only measurement system used in space flight. :)
How much It cost?
8 ball, 8 ball 😅
Imagine if we made a big backglass with the outline of the pool table, pinky, the name, and the Fonz in Neon Chris! It'd probably cost a fortune...
@@LyonsArcade it’s hand blown glass. I can do it. Let’s talk . Send you an email
@@LyonsArcade check your email pls
The girl on the back glass is Pinky Tuscadero Fonzie's girlfriend
Hi, I love your videos! I have a 80% working Ballys 1963 Golden Gate Gambling machine. It may be higher in % of working order? I am wanting to sell it but can not find a value of it! It's in mint condition! If you could help direct me me to who to contact I would be eternity grateful, I am going thru my 4th Cancer in 10 years and having hard times and regretfully have to sell it!
