- Ed Stewart looks at the weekly pop chart from 11th March 1971 and introduces Marmalade, Deep Purple, Lynn Anderson, Malcolm Roberts, Chairmen of The Board, Neil Diamond, Mungo Jerry, CCS and two Pans People dance sequence's.
The first been Paul McCartney's 'Another Day' then straight into Hot Love, this clip shows what outfits Pans People were wearing for the McCartney routine.
Donated by the wonderful Vin, who claims this copy only exists in Germany, where it was aired on a programme called 'Disco '71', good job they had the foresight to retain the copy whereas the BBC wiped it.
Picture corrected by me.
There seems to be some random insert round bout 2:50 mark - bizarre.
Unknown source showing in High Quality MPEG2
Trex are timeless still stands out when played today

After years of watching Pans People as a teenager when I was allowed Totps on the tele. I thank everyone who has kindly put all these wonderfully reminiscent videos of the girls through the late sixties to about '75 on you tube. It gives all of us over 65s the chance to relive the excitement and fancy the girls all over again as well as see them dance to our old favourites.
To be honest as a teenager my fancy used to change from girl to girl as there were quite frequent changes. Over the years I decided the girl I fancied most when she was part of the group was Louise Clark. As I watched the videos more and more (lots and lots of them) the girl I kept remembering as the one was Louise. I was hurt and devastated to see on Google she died quite a few years ago quite young really after illness.
A few more have passed away but thanks to these lovely videos we can still see them in their golden years. RIP girls.
OMG I remember dancing to this with my hot pants on, and my purple satin blouse with the huge collar and my lace up boots. I thought I was the bees knees lol! I loved this song.........I feel old!!
Me too!!
Merci beaucoup - Thanks a lot
Bloody hell, I can remember watching this at the time! Pans people, yum😀😀
Marc Bolan. What a beautiful man
Gorgeous 😍
So Handsome Marc Bolan!
Great song from the fabulous T Rex. However, would have preferred more emphasis by the cameras on Pan's People- particularly Dee Dee Wilde! Great era, the early 70s! Great music, great girls!
Agreed 100%,my friend. Shalom, and God bless you.
Yep, T Rex doing one of their greatest hits and I just want to watch the PP’s.
So cool and so much fun, love the hand-jive dance routine too
the magic of Bolan's Boland a hit in South Africa
Legends all round T Rex and Pans People.
The insert at 2:45 must surely be the German 'Disco '71' presenter and audience being viewed as they watch the TOTP clip. I think that kind of format was used at the time - there's a clip on here of a Dutch show where they did the same thing with Wig Wam Bam.
Marc Bolan's lovely smile...
Immense.
Great Marc Bolan
Never seen this TOTP clip before - thanks for posting. No Mickey Finn and is the drummer Bill Legend? Definitely Steve Currie on guitar. Timeless.
Isn't that Mickey Finn miming the drums?
Yes that’s mickey Finn on the drums!
guy in red looks like francis rossi from status quo !!
Yes, some resemblance! However, Francis Rossi does not have so big or standing off ears @ 3:20 ;-)
That’s Steve Curry!
I believe this copy is not in the BBC archive
"There seems to be some random insert round bout 2:50 mark - bizarre"
Not bizarre, at all - this is the original footage from the German show which routinely showed clips from TOTP, including this one of Hot Love...
Samantha Jones in red dress at 2:45
Interesting snapshot of the 70's.
Not on of his better songs.
Compared to Jeepster and the songs he wrote before Electric Warrior, it's kinda lame really.
Wish the cameraman had gaven more time to the dancers. They are the Real stars of the show.
Always fun to watch.
Thanx !!!!!

Interesting clip, filmed by BBC of course but this copy is from German TV, presumably the show was sold on by the BBC.
The 2DF logo means Zwei Deutsche Fernsehen, i.e. the German equivalent of BBC2.
Maybe the British BBC editor spliced in the error at 2:45, or the German one. Who knows.
where do you find these to upload ?? allegedly cameramen used to ask girls to do screentest dances from the audiences, with dead cameras according to some books published...what do you think ?
???@2.45 how did that shot get edited in???? thats about a year out!
The BBC wiped this episode of TOTP, this clip only exists because it was used as an insert for German TV show DISCO broadcast by ZDF ( Zweiter Deutscher Rundfunk ), the shot at 2:45 is the German TV studio.
Why didn't he drive instead of Marsha Hunt..... he'd be with us now :(
It wasn't Marsha Hunt! It was Gloria Jones
He couldn’t drive.
Actually it was Gloria Jones who Marc was married to then!
