Why does Grimsley even bother? Kingstree can bring their entire band from SC but Grimsley allows most of their members to skip A&T's homecoming and Greensboro MLK parades. Hats off to Kingstree for being the best high school band this year.
Because it’s always been just their Blue Steel Drumline. My son was a captain. It was never supposed to be the entire band. The dance team has been added, which is new.
@@tracysmith8185 I don't understand. Are you saying Grimsley doesn't not have an entire band and only fields a drumline, or is it only the drumline allowed to participate in those parades? I use to think Grimsley was a historically black high school, considerings only black students participated in those parades.
@@Cap-ku6ok Grimsley has a marching band. Only Blue Steel goes to GHOE, the whole band doesn't attend. The marching band does go to things like the Christmas parade.
Having gone to this parade since i was a kid, i will say i was a little disappointed this year. I posted up at murray and lindsay streets thinking i was at the half way point only to find out that was the STARTING POINT of the route. What happened to starting back up on Market Street by the United House of Prayer? And yes all the local high school bands used to be in the parade.i heard it was Dudley Homecoming the day before so maybe thats why they didnt participate this year. But where was Smith, NE used to be in the parade sometimes too. I didnt see any motorcycle riders. I didnt see the horses that usually signal the end of the parade. All the sororities and Fraternities usually are on their own float. In the past even out of state bands from Georgia would come. Are the entrance fees too high for folks to participate? I hope its back to being larger and more to it next year
The parade has been going this route for at least 6 years. I do agree that it was lagging in attendance. In my opinon it was not how it use to be. hopfully next year will be more in attendance.
Great honor A&T band .. always a pleasure yr after year since I moved to NC to enjoy u..... proud of each musician.. thank you
