This is the way to travel the canals...slow and gentle admiring the scenery and our industrial heritage....love the relaxing music also....some of the wall paintings are very artistic and nice to look at whilst others are just an ugly mess with no talent at all.....
I spent all of my childhood up to my 20's living in Middleport, I thought I knew this part of the canal like the back of my hand but perhaps not. I haven't been back for more than 30 years and so much has changed, some for the better and some not so. Lovely Vlog and thanks for the memories.
@@NarrowboatJourneys im thrilled...I haven't been commenting on every vlog I watch at night...didn't want to wear you out..but I'm on the Trent and Mersey right now almost done there..😊
That was an interesting vlog for me Phil. I do Genealogy, and found that although I'm Cornish, a lot of my Ancestors came from the Potteries. A lot of them lived in Fenton. So that was interesting for me,thank you. 😀
Another excellent piece. The diversity of views and environments is all part of the experience of the canal system. One can only imagine the activity that took place at those old factories in bygone days. Thank you!
Another enjoyable cruise. Can always tell when getting close to larger cities by the graffiti, but there were still a lot of pretty trees and interesting old buildings to see.
Just lovely but not quite long enough..lol!!! I want to be spoiled I guess!!..😊. Gosh I missed seeing Midge and Bushka!.. Beautiful reflections... I am really looking forward to more !!..I do favor your vloging.. Thank you as always!😊
You do bring your own, characterful, personality to your videos, which makes them so enjoyable and attractive fims to watch. This one through the somewhat decayed urban and industrial landscape is sensitively narrated in your uniquely enjoyable way. A lovely cameo of canalside Stoke on Trent which is most relaxing to enjoy, intelligently detailed and special, even, this time, with the added feature of some alarming "noises-off" ! Thank you for your continued magical You Tube programmes on land and water.
Thank you. I kind of raced through as I'm not keen on any city boating, and also didn't feel good about letting the cats out there. They're not used to urban areas.
I grew up just where you video ends...I will be watching the next video. I really enjoyed the flow with the boat & all the natural sounds around, really top draw. Thank you!
Hello Phil, That was very enjoyable cruise! I had issues to leave a comment but I left your app and then came back to add comment! Enjoy your Friday and the weekend! Your friend Ray!
Lovely soothing Vlog Phil, Thank you. Do you imagine that all those so-called Graffiti artists think they are improving the environment I don't think so? All the best. Stephen.
Hi Phil, was lovely to meet you at the water point yesterday. I left you to it as you had your hands full. Might see you again as I'm heading the same way. All the best, Gillian.
Westport Lake is dodgy as hell. I fished and camped there when I was younger, and at night there was more than one occasion where gangs came and asked you what you had to figure out whether to rob you or not. Advice amongst fishermen was to have weapons close and visible as a deterrent...or to avoid it altogether which is what I did after those few experiences.
A nice cruise, an excellent history lesson and some interesting scenery. I wonder if any of the potteries are still working. Burslem, I have seen stamped on some collectable china. Thanks very much Phil, take care.
@@NarrowboatJourneys You passed by Steelite International, UK/Europe's largest producer of hotel/restaurant crockery. Their problem is that it never wears out - we have some from the 80s, still good as new despite use every day...
@13:08 If you had moored up next to that disused pottery to go exploring, how long do you think it might've been until someone got unhappy about it? (If there was a canal-side fence there, I didn't manage to pick it out.)
Another excellent vlog, thank you. Quite interesting when you travel through industrial and or residential areas. Will you do this one as a slow tv channel episode?
An original choice of music which surprised and delighted me, thank you.
Love the music you have composed and the sounds......
Came past my old work as you came to Eturia, shame about the manager otherwise would still have been there miss being by the water everyday
19.30 to 26.00 is what makes your channel great.

Love the music, much better than most other vlogs. The industrial scenery reminds us why the canals were built.
Thanks 👍

Another of your beautifully produced and edited videos, along with some of my favourite music tracks. Thanks once again, Phil.
Many thanks!
Very good scenery. Looking for many vlogs like this in the future.
More to come!
Many thanks Phil, the potteries show what the canals were used for and adds interest, but like you the rural elements are my favourites. Take care.
Many thanks
Great video Phil.. You're getting quite good at making these now..!! 😉😎

Yes, I wouldn't be happy mooring there. Thanks for the info.
@17:04 Is that the Great Pottery Throwdown (series 1-3) pottery?
No idea, don't watch it... but possibly?
Yes, it is

Thank you. I think there are still several/many working potteries in the area?

Who can say?
30 years on a boat, has the number of boats on the canals grown a lot in that time?
Yes, a lot more now.

Thank you. I might do a slow tv version but I have many normal cruising videos in the queue first...
