- 2005 Vauxhall Tigra
In this weeks video we are taking a look at a 2 seater convertible that have dropped in price as of late and can be picked up really cheap, under £1500 cheap. The 2005 Vauxhall Tigra is a 2 seater convertible with an electric folding roof.
A budget option if you'd like to get into a 2 seater convertible.
But what is the Vauxhall Tigra like to drive? A look at the styling of the Vauxhall Tigra and if it is actually worth buying.

Great little looking car. I just bought one myself 2005 with only 67,000 on clock had it for 1,200 bargain. Perfect condition comfiest sport seats I've even sat in.
Great stuff, low mileage too. What colour? Bargain for what they are, an affordable 2 seater convertible.
I bought one of these with the 1.8 16v brand new in 2004 for my missus. We still have it today.
It's never had a problem apart from general wear and tear, and of course the obligatory wet patch in the drivers footwell.
The roof's a bit slower than it was a few years back, but it still works well.
Way better than the 206cc that we also looked at. The 206cc was too plastic inside, and I pulled the seat adjuster handle off during a test drive, so we went for the Tigra as the overall build quality is a lot better.
It's also pretty fast, with a top speed over 125mph.
A great value second hand car that still has a nice look to it.
Great review, thank you!
Thanks for watching
Nice review mate! I thought the same as you on those wheels, they suit the car well. I'd still pick the MX-5, of course ;)
The mx5 is just a better platform and car all round so if it means some extra cash to get one that's what I'd do. Still not bad looking though. The wheels are the best for it I think.
I have a tigra for almost a year now. Great car en fun to drive.
I like your video. Thanks.
Greetz from the Netherlands
Great stuff, they are a nice car, which colour do you have? Thanks for watching and hope all is well in the Netherlands 👍🏻

Thanks. You also heve a great day. 👍👋
Bro, good review!
Thank you 👍🏻
Great review my Peugeot 207cc has died on me to expensive to fix so getting one of these next couple of days time it's the 1.3 diesel I'll get a remap to about 90 bhp and better mpg cheers.
Thank you for watching. Good luck with your new purchase.
I have owned a 1.8 for 2 years. It´s cheap to run and own. It´s a verry nice driverscar for the money, fun to drive. Sportier than expected.
That is good to hear that it has been cheap to run and own over the 2 years.
You asked for an opinion, I've got one. The 1.4 is like a 205 1.6 GTI, but with a load of absurd luxury electronic features, and a brilliant retractable roof. The handling is quite firm, but it's grippy and direct. Fun and predictable to chuck between corners, but will cruise at the UK unofficial speed limit all day long at 3,500rpm ;). I don't think the 1.8 makes as much sense as the 1.4. You'd be in a similar insurance group, and spend as much on fuel as a Toyota MR2, which is an even more chuckable car to drive. The Tigra makes most sense to me with a 1.4l engine. The most important thing is to keep the timing chain, and it's tensioners in good shape, otherwise the ECU will put you straight into 'preservation mode', and you'll lose valueable power, and it could wreck your engine.
For some the 1.4 may be a better option, for a fun 2 seater convertible the 1.8 offers the more thrilling experience. Thanks for watching and your comment 😊
The steering is adjustable, look closer under the wheel
Have been taking a look at a few of these, they are actually quite nice cars but outside of those painted black, I find them a little bit feminine for my taste. Great review and v nice video, youve got a subscriber!
Thank you, hope the video was helpful. I found the red and silver very feminine, this blue and black aren't too bad I don't think, this blue with the silver hardtop is a nice contrast. Thanks for watching and subscribing 😊. If there is anything you'd like to see on the Channel I am always open to suggestions.
Everyone makes fun of me for having such a small car. And I’ve been happy with it for almost 9 years and for 6 of them I’ve been riding from Estonia to Bulgaria for 3000 kilometers without being at all tired.
the 1.8 is great
I might be getting one tomorrow as my first car! Driving test 16th june 🫣
Good luck, I would say check the rocker cover for oil leak as the rocker cover gaskets tend to leak. Thanks for watching, hope you found it useful 🙌🏻
I’m going to look at a mg TF on Monday for £1300 so I might get a convertible for summer yet haha!
Sounds good, mid engined aren't they?
@@pittmotoring mid engine RWD!
@@njp2k914 nice bit of summer fun to be had there. Don't see many of them around these days either.
I hav 1 and I love it
They are a nice little car for the money at the moment, bargain.
Mine heavly modified with irmscher bodykit
I was born at Haworth, and this chap deffo has a Haworth/Keighley accent!
small world and close guess, Pudsey is where I'm from.
Just bought the 1.8 as my first car, 2009 with 80k miles stitched leather seats iceberg blue paid 2g. Waiting for my policy to start so I can drive it 😂
you reccomend this or a slk r171 i mean different convertibles for sure but does the price gap justify to go with the corsa or better keep my money and take the slk
Completely different class if I'm honest. The Tigra is affordable but that also means basically a corsa interior (seats, dash etc..) The interior quality isn't going to be anywhere close to an SLK. The SLK well its Mercedes, the interior is a better design, more comfortable as you I'd imagine comparing it to basically a Vauxhall actors. It all depends what you're looking for. if you're wanting the comfort and more luxurious convertible, go for the SLK, if its a cheap affordable convertible and you're not fussed about quality and comfort go for the Tigra.
@@pittmotoring thanks for the reply!yeah you are right
no car spare wheel?
Upgrade the suspension right and it sticks to the road like glue, remap new turbo new intake and it glf
although i'm not a big fan of vauxhall (overhere in Belgium : Opel) : i bought one this summer , a 2007 model with the 1.8 petrol engine. Years ago i was one of the first owners of a 206CC and loved that car very much but after buying this i don't really understand the Tigra Twintop had the same succes as the 206CC ; it is better but maybe only with the 1.8 engine.
Indeed these are a bargain these days, i paid 3700 euro for a 2007 model with 108000km (67000miles), leather interior, airco, heated seats, complete history, a nice (but dated) radio-cd player....and it's way more practical than the 206CC, especially the trunk situation.
Here in Belgium the average price is 2000 euro ; everything below has high milage, not in good condition or it's a diesel.....1500 GBP (or 1700 Euro, is not a very realistic price overhere, evidently used car prices are much lower in the UK if i believe most UK youtubers.
Prices for the Tigra in the UK are quite low, you get a convertible for little money. Thanks for watching
i paid 875 for mine. 110k miles. 36mpg in black. 1.4
That is a good price 👍🏻. They are a bargain convertible, nothing special but get the roof down on a nice day and it doesn't matter.
@@pittmotoring damn straight. cracking little motor. not quick but who wants to go fast when looking good lol
Im 18 would this be a good learner car / first car?
It would all depend on your budget. Maintenance, tax and fuel economy wise they are pretty much the same as the Corsa C (same year), the only issue you may have for a learner or first car, is the insurance. It is a group 18 here in the UK. Hope this helps, thank you for watching and your comment 👍🏻.
@@pittmotoring what car would you recommend at the 2k mark for price wise that has a cheap/affordable insurance as a first car for a 18 year old that lives in london something that is reliable and drives well
@@berkay_gn4038 for something around London and a first car I don't think you can go wrong with the likes of a Toyota aygo in that price range, cheap to run, tax insure and toyota's well known reliability, similar with the Peugeot 107, Citroën C1, Vauxhall Corsa, Ford Ka. All economical, low cost maintenance wise and cheap tax and insurance.
How tall is man in video I’m just over 6ft would I fit
I would think so, I am 5ft 10. Best way would be go to have a look at one and test drive and then you know comfortably that you would fit.
I'm 6ft 2" and fit fine in mine
I used to fit fine in one and I'm 6'6"
