Hi Joe, I was wondering why do we need to put the members of the engagement program on pause when they unsubscribe or are Marketing suspended? In those cases won't they automatically stop receiving emails?
Hi Iva - they would, but these are used in this example as a fail safe to make sure no other casts even ATTEMPT to send. So if they become unblocked, they'll resume the stream right where they left off. We used a 3-day governance smart list (essentially, a SL that says "if you received an email in the past 3 days, you don't qualify for this run), but what ended up happening was if they DID receive an email in that time period, they would skip that cast, and the next time the cadence rolled around they would skip to the next whole program. So basically... the whole song and dance ended with them skipping emails in a series, so some folks received email 1 and the next cast they got like 3 months later was email 8. Pausing/unpausing is a more bullet proof method for us to manage that.
Thanks for creating these Joe. Would be great to see a session on custom fields and an episode on Ops programs.
Thanks for sharing Joe
