The Nike Metcon 9 versus the Reebok Nano X3 has been a pretty interesting cross-training shoe showdown.
Every year, lifters and athletes from all walks of life compare the Reebok Nano versus the Nike Metcon. There's usually a pretty split decision in most years, but this year I think one shoe comes out on top.

At the end of the day, I still think there will be camps of contrast behind both of these shoes.
However, I do feel like the Reebok Nano X3 takes the edge as the more well-rounded training shoe.
The Nike Metcon 9 is okay, but to be honest, I was hoping for more regarding its updates and changes, and some of the tweaks feel sub-par.

i have one pair of metcon's 6 , one of metcon's 8 and a pair of Nano X3 , nano's are by far better on my foot with much better stability than my metcon's when i lift. I love them

A couple of years ago I tried the M7 and I didn't like them at all, the feeling was of a hard shoe overall. So I bought the UA Tribase 3, which resulted great. My next pair of shoes were the X2 because it was hard to find the Tribase 4 in México, although they work I didn't feel as comfortable as with the UA, so I was a bit disappointed; but luckily for me I found the X3 for discount and decided to give them a try. What a nice surprise! So much better than the X2. I already want another pair of X3s, but I might go for the Tribase 5 considering how good the Tribase 3s are.

Just bought two pairs of the Nano Classic (variation of the x3). They are great training shoes!
Great review! Unless I’m mistaken, I think the X3 price is dependent on colorway- some are still $140
Most I’ve seen are creeping up to $150 and I feel like this for sure intentional so it seems like that’s always been the norm 😬

Regarding size -can say for women with narrow feet :my size 37 EUR and for Metcon 8 I took 7,5 US and Reebok nano x 3 6 1/2 Us
I feel like a 7 would be a safe bet, but if you're nervous about width then 6.5 would also be fine most likely!

My reebok nano x1 and x2 wore out badly in the same outsole area. Since then I have sworn off reebok. I wonder if it’s the quality of their float ride foam tech and whether it has gotten better
Could be, tbh. I've seen others have that issue, too. I'm also curious about the correlation and why it breaks down there for some lifters over others.
Tried metcon 9 with narrow foot and was fine. Used the same size I've been since metcons 4 and now bought nano x3 also in the same size. No problems so far.
I use cm as measuring unit for my shoes if that matters.
Love the videos! Width is always an issue for me as I’m a 2E or more. Would either of these be an option for me or can you recommend something else?
Dropset would be your best bet with these. I’d also suggest checking out the Born Primitive Savage 1. I have a review on those and they have a wider fit!
I've tried to buy the mecon all in my gym life. But every time when i decided to take it, reebok showed the new Nano series 😂

Personally going from metcon 2/3 for years to the nano x3, squatting and deadlifting feels really off putting with that big heel to toe drop.
Yeah, not surprised. You’ve acclimated to something specific then changes the biomechanics in which how you move/used to with a diff drop.
I’d give it some time and if it’s still super weird, then go back to a lower drop
I rip part of the middle sole of the rebook shoe other than that I think great shoe. Just got pair the Metcon 9 haven’t worn them
Can you get them to replace them?
That plastic 'plate' on the Nike's get worn out and starts making clicking noises when you run (especially version 8). Looking at the 9's.. it looks like the same cheap plastic. This is the 2nd pair of Nike's that have last about 2 years only.. the heals also came apart after doing heavy sled pushes and pulls. Might have to try the nanos .... using my 7 year old nanos as a temp replacement because they haven't fallen apart yet.

I only wear metcons when there is Oly lifting Inter the WOD. The Nano X3s are better for everything else! Now what about the TYRs? 😅
TYR are a solid in-between, imo!
I'm going metcon for the lower heel drop and the shoe felt quite versatile when i tried it on the shop. I also felt like the side wrap material really held my foot well when doing side lunges compared to other shoes
Love it! At the shop they felt fine, but you have to take em out for a few weeks of workouts. Try running and jumping in them then load some heavy unilateral work 😅 I’m curious if you’ll still find them to be as versatile.

Just got my Nano X3's and man they are STIFF! The toe area is fine but the heel/midfoot is a bit tight. I'm hoping they loosen up a bit with some casual wear
They will, but yeah, I don’t love their built out nature when breaking them either

Nano hands down
I do more CrossFit, cross training type workouts, and some runningc, and leg less rope climbs (bragging?). So defensively Reebok for me. Just grabbed a pair and will see if they pull me away from my haze trainers

How about the size off reebok ?- is the same like nike or more like adidas size ?
Example 8.5UK nike is 9.5UK adidas for me
I'd go 9 UK in the Nano X3, 9.5 in the Nano X4
I bought x3 orange flare.. any difference? The sole feels hard and doesn’t feel like it has any cup/bounce in it.
Shouldn't be. If you're not used to denser training shoes that may be what you're experiencing!

I am a little bit disapointed on Nike, their shoes used to Last very long, I just bougt the metcon turbo and they are totally destroyed, nano 9 were my Last nano shoes and they were so ugly, so I think I will get nano x3

Reebok have a strange size of foot. 37 is small ,37.5 bigger so I preferr always Nike
