Wow! Your approach solved my whole problem. Thank you so much for a thorough work up of this topic!! Your approach is way more complete and considered than any other out there!
Really informative and thorough. Great video. This is an update: the vision can be improved by going to Settings and set to HD, and watch the video in Full Screen. I found that improved the readability of the code, and overcomes the blue screen colour. But it is still the Gold Standard information as far as I'm concerned. It is the best exposition of Cascading Combo Boxes I have seen. I look fwd to the 2nd video.
Hi, Thanks for these articles, they are really helpful. Was wondering how I could create a cascading combo box on a datasheet form so that the cascading selections could be different for each row. What would be the best way to do this please?
I love your videos. They are well done and very helpful. I have trouble seeing the code. Can the blue background be changed to something lighter or can you furnish the code. Thanks John
Regardless of what I do, this somehow does not work. I've made sure there are no typos, I've been precise regarding table and query building, etc., to no avail. Somehow the form does not see the code I've put in. Any suggestions what went wrong?
First I want to thank you for your video lessons. You ask for real world Problems. I'm trying to create Access 2002 data base with cascading combo boxes for my fishing tackle. In combo box 1 i have the lure Series Name with 4 entries. Combo box 2 has the Lure Names with 48 entries. Combo box 3 has the lure Colors with 85 entries. the problem is a lure color can be used by multiple lure names. Example color ID 1 could be used by 5 different lure Names. The only way that I can come up with is in the color table have a record field for every lure name (48 fields) one for each lure name and put Lure NameID in the field that corresponds with the Lure Name and Color. As I begin to make this massive table, I hope you can give me direction for another option. Thanks
Are all Cascading Combo Boxes dependent on different tables? What if you want a cascading combo box for fields in the same table? Say identical items by different manufacturers that exist in the same table.
I am very new to access coming from excel and I don't think I am setting up my tables properly. Do you have a video on how to setup the tables before getting to this step? My 2nd and 3rd combo box is not filtering from the 1st. I would love to figure out how to use access, but it's driving me crazy right now.
Thank you for the videos! question my form turns blank when I select next record, but I what to see the items if I need to edit them and my split data sheet view does not show the past selected items only the current one in the form. What am I doing wrong.
I have a question. I am trying to get this to work between my last two tables and wondering if i have two primary keys in table 3 if this will pose an issue if 1 of the 2 keys are the same as the PK in table 2? I am creating a quoting system. I have three tables - customers, quotes, sequences (these are version of quotes). I have to use the quoteID in table three along with the revision# as a primary key so they are not duplicated between the two. I can have the quoteID replicated int he sequences table, but not in combination with a revision. Any advice is great .
this is helpful, especially when 3rd combo box works. instead of "unbound" combo box, i linked it to table, to store values. it works but when i reopen the form 2nd and 3rd combo boxes are blank. they still store the info but don't display it. any suggestion, what i'm doing wrong?
i have a very large subform data to deal with , so How to cascade Combo Box on a Subform ... i tried a method but Problem arises when i select a value it disappears from form view. please help
Very logical and to the point. I wish more instructors were like that.

I got it. I had the wrong references in table 3.
