@@denissgoc right, I've noticed that trend as well he mentions a individual then a week or so later that person is on. Maybe a way of driving interest subliminally lol.
Mike has such a cool service history. Not to throw shade on SEALs but some of the Delta or green berets have really great stories because they have a different mission set. Sometimes many SEAL stories are very similar.
I already listened to this on cleared hot but i gotta come show mike some love as well. Always a pleasure to listen to you guys. Much love and God bless from Missouri brother
All the episodes are important and insightful, but specific aspects of this podcast are really needed for many to hear. I applaud both of you for keeping it very real. Andy is so damn focused, present, and intelligent. Mike is down to earth, not at all flashy, and you can tell he really cares about others. The two together share perspective that is some of the most important content in the internet. Thank you!
Great conversation. And Andy is an impressive person - I didn't think I would learn so much from his Q&As. Seems like a humble guy despite his extensive knowledge and experience, and he's only in his mid forties! I am not part of the military community but live near a military base so know of the armed forces. Thank you both for sharing your thoughts and journeys. Grateful to those who leave interesting comments too 🙂
This was a great podcast, I came here for Andy and was always a fan of Mike. Some of the conversations got deeper then expected, and I appreciate that.
I love hearing these stories; like Andy going through flight school and his type ratings. Because it pumps me up, and is fuel in what I want to succeed in, in my own life.
next time you could put first half on one channel and second half on the other... i already listened to this in andy´s channel... i´m gonna let it running here just to show support.
What Mike was talking about around 1:11:00 is exactly one of the issues I have. In no way am I suicidal or anything like that, I enjoy my life but so often I’ll be driving and I’m just in my head like all it takes is me yanking the steering wheel real quick straight into a pole or straight off the edge of a cliff or into the oncoming traffic and it’s like you have to talk yourself out of doing it. The crazy thing is that I would never actually do it but it’s just thoughts you get in your head realizing what you are doing at the moment is important and it takes a lot of responsibility even if it’s something as simple as driving because it truly doesn’t take much to crash or someone lose their life from driving. I’ve heard Jim Carrey talk about it too, idk what it is but I’ve always had those thoughts just run through my head often during certain situations.
I lived on the other side of a mountain and driving on the cliff road I’d think about the fact I could let go on a turn and get air into the river. There’s a few more things that do that to me
I appreciate the cadre strategic nuanced forward motion in the evolution of platform options that influence the culture of freedom and responsibility with family considerations. Definitely an oasis of stoics in a sea of idiocracy. Thanks guys
I think Mike makes a good point with transcribing some of the interviews from Cleared Hot into a book. As a Vet, I think that book could help us with the transition from military to civilian. By the way, you guys as a team are a powerhouse…keep firing for effect!
I thought Mike basically interviewed Andy when I listened to this on Cleared Hot, so makes sense it's here as well. Lol. Either way I can listen to these guys daily! And i want that new shirt Andy was talking about! Happy Monday all!!
Out of all the helicopter rides I had taken in my lifetime it was really cool seeing that Palm Pilot strap to the Pilot's leg.. I thought that was the coolest thing I'd ever seen throughout my entire tour other than meeting the Special Forces..
More leadership content! Our society needs more from guys who have lead in special operations and are now leaders in the business world. It just makes sense
Talking of vaccines/shots, a friend of mine was in the Navy and was going overseas and had to get his anthrax shot. It was a series of 3 shots(from military friends explanations) and the 3rd shot caused him to have a stroke and he still suffers from it many years later. He hasn’t let it slow him down, but you can still see the effects of it from his walk, his hand, and his speech.
45..you're 1 year older than me..the 1 thing I love about including my past influence was judo..I love taking the fall correctly..I thought the military did nothing but push-ups and ran.. that mostly turned out to be the truth just because I was following my gut feeling.. but all the training that I received even with the headaches created a world environment that I will never forget real world.. I was ready to join the military at 10 years old that's how anxious I was.. I even received some martial arts training from an Special Forces Vietnam veteran.. I believe that to be invaluable..
I’ve been following Mike’s content for a year and I have never heard him mention BJJ. 🤯 dude rolled with world class athletes 🤯 Also hearing Andy talk about his life progression in self awareness was like getting hit in the face with a brick. I’m only 35 minutes into this. Great content 👍 Also treat yourself to a good laugh and jump to 1:25:00 🪂🐏💩😶🌫️🤯 I literally almost rolled in the floor 😂🤣
I think you need to start getting into the geopolitical stuff Mike. You've got the tactics, survival stuff locked..show everyone how much you know about the world from a hands on perspective.
Mike, when it comes to civilian training that combines grappling and weapons retention and deployment in extreme close quarters, train with Craig Douglas (Shivworks). Also Cecil Burch (Immediate Action Combatives) combines Jiu-Jitsu with close quarters weapons use and retention.
Mike, my Dad is nearly 80 and has 18 year's experience as an SF and 4 as a Ranger. Actually started 2nd Ranger Battalion. He has very rarely spoken about his personal experiences. He is from that old school mindset that you don't talk about it. I'm gently trying to nudge him about his experience. I am so afraid all of his experience will die off with him. I see it the same as you that the history would be lost with him and it just kills me. If anyone has any advice of how to help shift his mindset which feels impossible. He recently told me he was a Lone Survivor. My fucking blood went cold knowing this. He said he was in some old Vietnam books, I would LOVE to find those books but he won't tell me which books.
I just saw a vpodcast where my Dad is mentioned by J Stryker Meyer I'm getting closer to finding the books. I'm assuming it is one of his books. I keep replaying it hoping to hear more details. 😅
Some of us veterans need to talk more to each other because we're not going to move beyond the past unless we do.. we will never forget our training until we become unfocused to the point of not communicating.. the standard of the military is communication or any entity that has the heartbeat to save another life.. the core values of what the military teaches is the exuberance to sustain life
I think it's great to see what happens when people create on the basis of giving back and raising up community. The outcome of the investment seems so further reaching and impressive. I also love that you touched on layers of person security and accountability. This segment on training touched on crazy reality for me personally. I recently had a situation of a road rage scenario with an intoxicated man who ran me near off the road. While calling in to 911 and meeting up behind this guy at a red light, jiu-jitsu gave me the ability not to use my appendix carry glock when I was forced to exit my blocked in vehicle and not risk being trapped in it dealing with him as a threat. The law enforcement response was astounding, even being armed and not using it. The justification process, even in self-defense, was eye-opening. Feeling I was justified even to go lethal force, then giving a pass to this gentleman was not as clear cut from the LEO standpoint. What makes sense tactically is, in reality, not always in line with the legal system. In reality, the choice fell on being alone in the vehicle rather than my wife or kids being in the vehicle with me. Had they been me going to lethal force, not risking losing the confrontation and leaving them at the whim of a clearly unbalanced and intoxicated attacker would of taken the choice away from me, in my opinion. I think on the format subjects poised to Andy by Mike on transcrition etc. also, is great. Our veteran communities experience violence, I feel at some point there should be curriculum for the civilian world to counter say Hollywood with reality. Maybe perhaps at the high school level. Perhaps it sounds odd, but I feel a lot of violent phenomena in our culture are due to a lack of understanding of the subject. Especially as people apply long-term solutions to short-term problems.
Mike I love that idea of having your own news media I love it if I had the money I would be one of your backers sick and tired of all the bullshit you hear out there keep up the good work and I love your Podcasts . My wife always hollers at me to keep my mouth shut because I say what I wanna say and if it hurts you it’s too damn bad the truth is the truth God bless and God bless America one veterans to another🇺🇸🇺🇸. If you can't imagine yourself riding a book somewhere along the line you might have gotten lost along the way but at least you can read.. inspiration is key and those who don't read or cannot read.. I have empathy for those people.. humanity is going through a connectivity problem at the moment.. so when you have to drop everything to educate yourself this that way one or the other.. so be it.. unfortunately Society is struggling so that means you're going to have to try harder to pay attention..😇
I think the static training is very complimentary to our society because we have the means to do it.. safely conducting training boarding and exiting a helicopter is not very extensive but you can complete the training exercise Within 4 hours.. or less that's just my opinion and from experience
Oh and I also like mudslides in lightning storms.. my mother would make me take my clothes off in the back porch.. and I told her mom it's raining.. she said you're filthy!!! I said fine I'll just stand out in the rain until my clothes are clean..lol
I drank one night before the next workday in the military..I decided to go for a late night walk..I finally found a road that had streetlights half mile apart..I began fast walking, just short of an airborne shuffle.. my lower extremities were sore not only for PT the next morning but for the next three days I was crying.. so for those people who think that fast walking looks funny and haven't tried it.. I suggest you humanize yourself..lol
Sorry about your loss your friend base jumping.. that is a risky sport or Hobby.. people who jump from any distance are taking a huge risk.. nothing is certain and I'm sorry you lost your friend
