How often do you normalize tables/queries in Power BI? Do you duplicate queries or do you reference queries in Power BI? Let me know by leaving a comment below 👇 Cheers!

How Nestor thank you for the video. It was very clear. Can you help explain to me what normalising a table/query means?

@@jayxpea Thanks for stopping by. This is what Microsoft says about Normalization: "It's the term used to describe data that is stored in a way that reduces repetitious data." When you normalize your tables, it means you create dimension tables with unique key columns. Normalization and Denormalization are two critical concepts to understand the Star Schema in Power BI. The following tutorial will help. Cheers! ua-cam.com/video/JDCh8p2bZL0/v-deo.html

when i used reference, the running for update source file will be twice or just one time off for original and reference just refer to original. what i plan to do, for the reference file i will group by item.
    tq

There is some controversy in terms of query performance between reference and duplicate. I'd go with reference if you don't need the steps applied to the original table. Then I'll use Performance Analyzer in Power BI to review the performance.
