Too long on UA-cam it's felt like one rule for the big companies and another for the little guy. A record label can get a video taken down in seconds, while somebody reporting that their video was stolen can sometimes get shunted aside unfairly. We need somewhere in the middle, where these cases are all investigated before any action is taken, unless there's serious reason to take a video down quickly like harmful or illegal content that ought to be quarantined.

This means either A. An MCN let her in which is likely how she never got demonetised for reusing content B. UA-cam is directly supporting her to do this.
MCNs get special privileges in terms of monetisation on copyright. Often if a creator is in a MCN they can’t get automatically content ID claimed and it has to be manually done…
And THIS is why we love jacksfilms. THIS is a prime example of a successful person, a big name, fighting for the little guys. At this rate, youtube is going to have to actually step up at some point with this a bit, and if they don't, at least the community can band together and do what's right. If anything I'd just correct them. He's not obsessed, he's committed. He saw something wrong, called it out, got a big negative response, and comitted to chipping away at the problem. Instead the majority of the time he's pointing out not only what could be better, but how it could be better. I was talking to someone a bit older than me the other day (I'm 35) and we were talking about TV when we were younger. At our camp we had 3 channels and we ALWAYS found something to watch out of those 3 channels. And most of the time it wasnt what you would have chosen otherwise, but you often are pleasantly surprised and even learn something from it. Or you'd be like "well this is boring" and read a book, draw, listen to tunes, play cards instead. Now... if I feel like I want to watch a movie or start a new show. I can look for an HOUR and not decide on anything. Too many options. So I often go to UA-cam short form content bc it tickles my adhd brain. But it's not good for it! If I struggle controlling myself, I imagine it's even harder for the kiddos. Sucks, man. 😪 The person I was speaking to, they only had the few channels at home and at about midnight or so, all of the channels would turn to snow/static. Because no one was watching TV at midnight. I don't think it's healthy to have this constant barrage of content. Especially when it's SO dumb, ya know?

back in 2017 i posted a video to my channel which was like 20 seconds long, the video was fully edited, transformed AND had credit to the original creator's video which i transformed, yet it got removed for copyright INSTANTLY the moment the creator or their corporation flagged it. i didnt get a warning or anything, just instant strike to my channel, which is why it makes me so mad to see sssniperwolf just downright freeboot countless people's videos and youtube encouraging it
oh and even worse, another person made a video which was almost IDENTICAL to mine, transformed from the exact same video from the exact same creator and transforming it into the same thing, yet, their video didnt get taken down and instead blew up with hundreds of thousands of views. i assume their video didnt get removed like mine did because their channel had way more subscribers than me at the time. i appealed my video and asked to at least be given a more specific reason as to why it was removed other than just "copyright", but got ignored. i love this platform

When I was a teenager i had a selfie that went very low key viral on tumblr and it was stolen so many times, I was 15 so I was so uncomfortable with seeing my face on Facebook pages like ‘hot and sexy women’ and ‘hot profile pictures’ with adults commenting on my appearance like that. Thankfully it was very short lived but I hated it. I know it’s not comparable I’m glad there’s been more of an outcry about stolen content now, so thank you for what you’re doing.

It's laziness. Notice how some videos do have credit in them, and some don't. It's because (my opinion) they have the need to barf out video after video real quickly to stay relevant, so anything remotely close to a ''video format'' is going to be used in their videos. That is why one video comes from Tik Tok, and then suddenly 1 video from...somewhere with zero context. I remember even a small video I believe from some random Chinese site, how the hell can you even credit that if you cannot even read what the name is? They should never use videos like that, there is zero way to credit that ''right'' unless you like, contact that specific creator and ask them how to write and pronounce their account names...which I do not see Sniper doing lmao. Too much work.
This is actually heartwarming, to see these kids speak up after years of staying silent and being scared, and having someone stand up for their rights, and having actual progress come of their courage. Jack's started kind of another "Me too" movement, in a way.

That's interesting. Presumably she's fully aware she's offering nothing of value and doing so with purpose. The insane thing is it really isn't difficult to say something, anything, that would make it transformative. But, that's not what kids come to the channel for. She's more of a content curator saving people from having to find clips themselves. So if she changes her act it would most likely mean less views and less revenue. Maybe I'm giving her too much credit but I think she's walking a very fine line. She knows what she's doing is wrong but she's banking on people being too scared or thinking it's not worth it to scour her backlog of videos so she can keep cranking out these videos instead of doing it properly which would not only lose her views but slow down the pipeline since the editors would have to do more than add stupid graphics and sound effects which is basically all they do now.

she is one of the few creators that youtube consistently recommends when new users first boot up the site, meaning that they have manually decided to make her one of youtubes front facing creators, not only does this mean that they actively favor her, but it also sends a bad message about what kind of ocntent is accepted and rewarded on the site.

Seriously, guys, if you haven't heard of the OTHER bad things Sniperwolf has done, just look up "Sniperwolf Controversies" or something here on UA-cam. Among other things, she harassed any and every female gamer in her Overwatch games while being a FAKE gamer herself (paid someone else to actually play FOR her on stream while she pretended to play), accused a DYING CHILD of harassing her after she used the dying child for her selfish gains on social media and not then holding up her end of a LAST-WISH deal she had made with said child, and was botting viewers the whole time she was on Twitch and lying about it even AFTER being caught discussing cost on recording.

I like this went from roasting a terrible lazy UA-camr to actually coming together as a support group so that small content creators can fight back against copyright infringement.
I feel so sad about that story from the child artist who had their digital work stolen. I had a similar thing happen. Not on UA-cam, but on Etsy. I uploaded a digital cross-stitch design of 3D tetris pieces to make from plastic canvas as keyrings. 2 weeks later I saw another seller copied the designs 100%. They didn't bother to change the colours.I used for each of the block shapes. And they were selling it, and sold 100+ as they were a major account on Etsy. I tried to report their listing, with digital photos to back up my claim as they would have predated theirs by 2 weeks. I even photocopied my original graph paper design I did, but Etsy sided with the thief, saying I doctored the timestamp on my photos (which is physically impossible to do BTW) and said I was "clutching at straws" But It got even worse. The thief had her many followers harass afterwards me in droves, some even sending me death threats. And what did Etsy do when I asked them to help me? They were like: "Sorry. There's nothing thing we can do" I closed my account with disgust after that. There are tons of content thieves out there, not just on youtube who think they can get away with anything.

Never been a victim of anything like this but I find it really easy to empathize with people who have their stuff stolen. I’m fresh out of high school and this is like the equivalent of somebody taking credit for a group project I did by myself when they did nothing to help. That kind of stuff makes me ticked. This video was incredible. Not just because of all the difference we can see being made, but the sheer amount of people coming forth and expressing their full, vulnerable disapproval at having something about themselves stolen for money. Stealing content and repressing sensitive feelings are very commonplace on the internet, and they'll never go away. While I can't say how far this will inevitably go, it's incredible to see how much of a difference this is making. It's small on the surface, but it means a lot to see it happening at all
I love that Jack has lit a fire under other creators to finally stand up for themselves. It’s incredibly difficult to tackle a giant like Sniperwolf if you feel like you’re the only one trying.
Lia also has a history of asking minors to do inappropriate things for her like twerking on Omegle and in return she would flash them or offer to flash them. She is creepy and disgusting, I’m sorry for what she did to you Jack hopefully if enough creators discus this UA-cam will finally ban all her channels.
I always thought Jack's content was great, but the thing that cements my respect for him is his conviction. You can tell he actually has a strong moral problem with her. He isn't just doing a bit. Good man.
I really hope something gets done to make it easier for creators to claim and reports stuff like this. I can honestly see jack starting a company to do exactly that, beeing the middle man and helping people who can't/aren't comfortable with doing the whole process by themselves
What creeps me out about SSSniperwolf is the fact that she is acting like a teenage girl in her videos and I know she is an adult 30+ y.o. woman. It's just slightly "uncanny valley" for me

I'm a bit late to this since I was on vaca w/o internet but I am so proud of this community. I cringe at my 5th-7th grade me for watching her but I feel I'm making up for it by supporting this community with everything I have. Thank you Jack for literally everything you are doing. We are on the threshold of change as more people realize they can take back what is rightfully theirs.
People do need to realize even if their individual voice doesn't have much effect, these channels getting multiple claims sent will eventually get them noticed as a potential risk for UA-cam.

We need an update video of all the victories this channel has brought. I think putting everyone’s stories all in one place would help get the word out and show creators how effective this really is. Too long on UA-cam it's felt like one rule for the big companies and another for the little guy. A record label can get a video taken down in seconds, while somebody reporting that their video was stolen can sometimes get shunted aside unfairly. We need somewhere in the middle, where these cases are all investigated before any action is taken, unless there's serious reason to take a video down quickly like harmful or illegal content that ought to be quarantined.

I used to looove sssniperwolf when I was little but as I grew up I started to realize how annoying she is and the fact that she steals content by the truckload.
After all the drama that she caused, all the people she insulted, SHE GHOSTED A CANCER PATIENT WHO WANTED TO MEET HER, and she got arrested multiple times, also her ex is suing her and will probably be a part of her downfall, he's same as her but at least he doesnt steal from small content creators. This means either
A. An MCN let her in which is likely how she never got demonetised for reusing content
B. UA-cam is directly supporting her to do this.
MCNs get special privileges in terms of monetisation on copyright. Often if a creator is in a MCN they can’t get automatically content ID claimed and it has to be manually done…

At this rate, youtube is going to have to actually step up at some point with this a bit, and if they don't, at least the community can band together and do what's right. Not UA-cam, Google. Remember where the whole source of power and money comes from, advertising, and they have to go through Google first before ever touching youtube. And these advertisers are enabling the normalizing of trash copypaste content bc of veiws. I was talking to someone a bit older than me the other day (I'm 35) and we were talking about TV when we were younger. At our camp we had 3 channels and we ALWAYS found something to watch out of those 3 channels. And most of the time it wasnt what you would have chosen otherwise, but you often are pleasantly surprised and even learn something from it.
Or you'd be like "well this is boring" and read a book, draw, listen to tunes, play cards instead.
Now... if I feel like I want to watch a movie or start a new show. I can look for an HOUR and not decide on anything. Too many options. So I often go to UA-cam short form content bc it tickles my adhd brain. But it's not good for it! If I struggle controlling myself, I imagine it's even harder for the kiddos. Sucks, man. 😪
The person I was speaking to, they only had the few channels at home and at about midnight or so, all of the channels would turn to snow/static. Because no one was watching TV at midnight.

This will probably sound insensitive but Jack is kinda like the WGA strikers, fighting someone waaay larger than them in an uphill battle, but it is a slow burn for the large side, and a slow rise for the smaller side, while the stikers could still have alternative works, the studios could only delay more and more and lose on a lot of money. The thing that pisses me off the most is that major corporations can claim you stole content when it was well within fair use, and UA-cam INSTANTLY gives you a full strike, 1/3 of the life of your channel. But when another creator does it, they hem and haw and make you prove it when it’s pretty damn obvious. Sickens me

back in 2017 i posted a video to my channel which was like 20 seconds long, the video was fully edited, transformed AND had credit to the original creator's video which i transformed, yet it got removed for copyright INSTANTLY the moment the creator or their corporation flagged it. i didnt get a warning or anything, just instant strike to my channel, which is why it makes me so mad to see sssniperwolf just downright freeboot countless people's videos and youtube encouraging it
oh and even worse, another person made a video which was almost IDENTICAL to mine, transformed from the exact same video from the exact same creator and transforming it into the same thing, yet, their video didnt get taken down and instead blew up with hundreds of thousands of views. i assume their video didnt get removed like mine did because their channel had way more subscribers than me at the time. i appealed my video and asked to at least be given a more specific reason as to why it was removed other than just "copyright", but got ignored. i love this platform
Honestly I’ve seen some animation and movie company channels copyright strike other creators on here for videos that were definitely fair use and they had to fight it so yeah it’s great how lia gets a free pass! (Sarcasm)

When I was a teenager i had a selfie that went very low key viral on tumblr and it was stolen so many times, I was 15 so I was so uncomfortable with seeing my face on Facebook pages like ‘hot and sexy women’ and ‘hot profile pictures’ with adults commenting on my appearance like that. Thankfully it was very short lived but I hated it. I know it’s not comparable I’m glad there’s been more of an outcry about stolen content now, so thank you for what you’re doing.

It's laziness. Notice how some videos do have credit in them, and some don't. It's because (my opinion) they have the need to barf out video after video real quickly to stay relevant, so anything remotely close to a ''video format'' is going to be used in their videos. That is why one video comes from Tik Tok, and then suddenly 1 video from...somewhere with zero context. I remember even a small video I believe from some random Chinese site, how the hell can you even credit that if you cannot even read what the name is? They should never use videos like that, there is zero way to credit that ''right'' unless you like, contact that specific creator and ask them how to write and pronounce their account names...which I do not see Sniper doing lmao. Too much work.
This is actually heartwarming, to see these kids speak up after years of staying silent and being scared, and having someone stand up for their rights, and having actual progress come of their courage. Jack's started kind of another "Me too" movement, in a way.
It's so satisfying to know that she's actually being taken down a peg. You're doing an incredible thing, Jack, and it warms my heart to see all these creators standing up for themselves. That's interesting. Presumably she's fully aware she's offering nothing of value and doing so with purpose. The insane thing is it really isn't difficult to say something, anything, that would make it transformative. But, that's not what kids come to the channel for. She's more of a content curator saving people from having to find clips themselves. So if she changes her act it would most likely mean less views and less revenue. Maybe I'm giving her too much credit but I think she's walking a very fine line. She knows what she's doing is wrong but she's banking on people being too scared or thinking it's not worth it to scour her backlog of videos so she can keep cranking out these videos instead of doing it properly which would not only lose her views but slow down the pipeline since the editors would have to do more than add stupid graphics and sound effects which is basically all they do now.

Seriously, guys, if you haven't heard of the OTHER bad things Sniperwolf has done, just look up "Sniperwolf Controversies" or something here on UA-cam.
Among other things, she harassed any and every female gamer in her Overwatch games while being a FAKE gamer herself (paid someone else to actually play FOR her on stream while she pretended to play), accused a DYING CHILD of harassing her after she used the dying child for her selfish gains on social media and not then holding up her end of a LAST-WISH deal she had made with said child, and was botting viewers the whole time she was on Twitch and lying about it even AFTER being caught discussing cost on recording.
After all her conteoversies, I'd be floored if this was the thing that actually hurt her.
So she's completely and entirely devoid of any talent...

I like this went from roasting a terrible lazy UA-camr to actually coming together as a support group so that small content creators can fight back against copyright infringement.
I feel so sad about that story from the child artist who had their digital work stolen. I had a similar thing happen. Not on UA-cam, but on Etsy. I uploaded a digital cross-stitch design of 3D tetris pieces to make from plastic canvas as keyrings.
2 weeks later I saw another seller copied the designs 100%. They didn't bother to change the colours.I used for each of the block shapes. And they were selling it, and sold 100+ as they were a major account on Etsy. I tried to report their listing, with digital photos to back up my claim as they would have predated theirs by 2 weeks. I even photocopied my original graph paper design I did, but Etsy sided with the thief, saying I doctored the timestamp on my photos (which is physically impossible to do BTW) and said I was "clutching at straws"
But It got even worse. The thief had her many followers harass afterwards me in droves, some even sending me death threats. And what did Etsy do when I asked them to help me? They were like: "Sorry. There's nothing thing we can do"
I closed my account with disgust after that. There are tons of content thieves out there, not just on youtube who think they can get away with anything.

Even if I was a successful at anything, I would never let it go to my head or use my followers as a personal attack army. It's disgusting behaviour and its even more disgusting that Etsy allowed it to happen in the first place. It goes to show equality doesn't exist on their site.

Never been a victim of anything like this but I find it really easy to empathize with people who have their stuff stolen. This video was incredible. Not just because of all the difference we can see being made, but the sheer amount of people coming forth and expressing their full, vulnerable disapproval at having something about themselves stolen for money.
Stealing content and repressing sensitive feelings are very commonplace on the internet, and they'll never go away. While I can't say how far this will inevitably go, it's incredible to see how much of a difference this is making. It's small on the surface, but it means a lot to see it happening at all

I cringe at my 5th-7th grade me for watching her but I feel I'm making up for it by supporting this community with everything I have. Thank you Jack for literally everything you are doing.
