I’m 56 years old and never in my life before have I ever seen producers of a tv show or movie called me a racist, bigot or misogynist because I didn’t like their product. The toxicity of these people is mind-blowing. All it makes me want to do is cancel them and boycott any product made by them every again, and I urge others to do the same otherwise these people will think their behaviour is acceptable.
Amazon actually removed all my comments and reviews as well as blocked me from ever commenting on movies or products ever again after I gave the rings of power a 1 star rating. I did not break any community guidelines either and when I asked to point out what I had done wrong specifically they simply stated that they were unable to provide any more information on the matter.

I'm certain there was an internal memo throughout all of Amazons employees, that they each had to run Rings of Girl Power in the background of every employees devices on a constant loop in order to boost the viewing minutes.
Still haven’t downloaded it. Although a huge fan of the franchise. I don’t hate the (bad) TV show. I hate the producers, for telling us ("the racists"), what we should consider good, and what is bad. I can watch a documentary, about multicultural countries, race discrimination in the USA, or gender equality,if I want to touch those subjects.
What was funny is that was never the issue in Numenor.. and that Amazon has done everything they can to prevent unionization in their massive warehouses. So was the dig on irritated human workers a dig at their own employees?

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: The week after its last episode aired, Amazon's one billion dollar TV show got bumped off the weekly streaming top ten by Netflix reruns of the Gilmore Girls, a show that ended fifteen years ago. You can't make excuses for that.
The thing is, some people will just finish a show's season just to complete it, no matter how bad, so 37% audience retention at the end is worse than it sounds.
No it is as bad as it sounds because the studios kept insisting that this show was a hit. While audience attrition is expected, losing 2/3rds of your audience just shows that you have been lying this whole time… …to the investors and executives that you reassured that there was no way a LOTR show would flop. And yet it did.
@@NathanCassidy721 I think you misread me. I said a 37% retention rate at the end of a season is *worse* than it sounds. ie It's an even bigger flop than it appears, because it's likely a lot of those 37% of people who stuck it out will *never* return for season 2

So 2025 for season2? The only dent this made in the public conscious was a blunt instrument that attracted nothing but ridicule. The most expensive show ever made. As you say here, all that's left is a slice of a slice of those that actually stuck with it. The lost audience isn't coming back outside of a miracle of an improvement and nobody seriously thinks that's going to happen.
Amazon will know exactly who watches TROP, because it has to be streamed or downloaded through prime. They’ll know exactly how many minutes are watched and everything. It can’t be good, hence why they’ve created their own bizarre metrics that they can slice in ways that seem positive.
My friends, obsessed over LOTR as kids. They watched Rings of Failure, enjoyed it even, just happy to be back in Middle Earth. When I asked how the writing was, they admitted it sucked. We talked about it, turns out this is the first franchise to get this treatment for them. I bet that 37% either didn't care as much, or doesn't have the "I'm just over this" mentality most of us have by now, because this is not our first rodeo.
If its Middle Earth I'm going to watch it all and honestly those numbers sound about right to me. Say what you will but the show did have some strong points despite the hate it deservedly received. There are not many Fantasy shows that had visuals on that level and I would argue that the Galadriel/Sauron storyline is what really needed to be scrapped. The thing with the Mithril curing elf cancer as well admittingly, but 85% of the dwarf material was well done. In the end its Fantasy made by committee and the writing is not only bad, but insulting. The Sauron thing, the swim, ohhh boy.....
I know some folks who have taken fandom into their identity. They are simply beyond questioning whether a part of their fandom is good or not... they MUST consume it. Now, when it comes time to watch things over and over they may select some things over others, and may occupy themselves with something while their show is just playing in the background. They have preferences. But they will NEVER say that a part of their fandom is bad. Because it is who they are.

I still remember playing Aragorn in the LOTR: Two Towers game. Having to unlock all the badass moves like "Bane of Isildur", Killing orcs left and right. And good graphics too for such an old game.
Bosch is better than all of them but it’s a personal preference. Prime has some good shows but there is no way they make a profit. People get Prime for the shopping and shipping benefit, not to watch shows. Plus it doesn’t work very well for me; TONS of problems with sound and picture not syncing, even with shows I paid for. And I watch through the Amazon Fire Stick, inexcusable.
I work with someone who calls themselves a "Tolkien Nerd" but hasn't read the books and thought the Peter Jackson Hobbit trilogy was brilliant. She got offended when I said you can't say you're a Tolkien fan if you haven't even read the books. "Come on, man!"
I'm a commercial artist, and I agree 100% with the opening statement in this video - if I post a piece of art, I own it. I can't tell people they're wrong for not liking it. Love the video BTW - keep up the good work.
Im a musician, I’m thankful when people listen to my art, which I don’t even push on my closest friends or family. You can tell these people aren’t artists, artists make it for themselves as an expression of their emotion/creativity/etc, for their own fulfilment, and may choose to share it with others. They don’t demand your attention, demand you pay them for the privilege, and attack your character/morality if you don’t like it. People are so busy and stressed, expecting them to make time for your art is pretty selfish.
This is a direct collision between a high-handed and dogmatic corporate environment's utter contempt for the creative process and the reality of the garbage they've produced. I'm sure they can get 100% agreement with any garbage they want in the meeting rooms and it's incredibly annoying to them that they can't dominate the actual viewers the same way.

Seems that the whole purpose this was made in the first place was simply to make something that had woke points, and with the express purpose of doing it with a major franchise that was entirely not woke in the least. Since there's so much backlash from those producing the "art", I'd say this is all an exercise in trying to indoctrinate others and not at all about art. In the history of the world, people make all kinds of things for all kinds of reasons. Much of it has art within it because people have feelings and those feelings get translated into their work. Anyone with any common sense or good spirit knows it's wrong to dismiss a person based on their acceptance of anything else made within the world. Tastes are completely subjective. Heck, not everyone likes fantasy or the LOTR to begin with. It's very popular but hardly a must-like by itself. Why should ROP be universally loved by all? This is all insane to even think about.
Lenny Henry and Sophia Nomvete patting themselves on their backs about their skin color drove me away. And being called racist from the producers because I didn't watch the show didn't help either. I watched some interviews of those 2 guys, and they came off as nothing more than activists. Just how a business could trust something as big as Rings of Power with 2 untried people with an agenda is mind staggering. The show was nothing more than a social platform from the beginning.

The Expanse was better... they should have leaned into it. Everyone wanted more of that show, but their own in-fighting and politics ended up killing it off.
Politics didn't kill off the Expanse, it pulled off the exact opposite of GoT S8 and gave us a bittersweet, but competent finale until(if) future seasons are greenlit.
@@kazansky22 Nope, there are 3 more books they could adapt. The problem is: the story makes a 20 year time jump, between book 6 ( where the show ended) and book 7. Allegedly, the producers want to wait some years for the actors to age and then adapt the final books as a movie trilogy, but these are all rumors nothing official.

I have Prime and I didn't even bother watching it. What really sucks is you can no longer leave reviews or read reviews on any of Amazons digital movies. Now I'm forced to go to other sites to investigate a movie to see if I may like it. This has caused me to not click buy because it's no longer as easy.
I’m 65. I’m almost totally disinterested in modern TV series and movies. I had been a fan of Dr Who but Chibnall’s run with it destroyed that completely. Currently rewatching series, such a Person of Interest and Reacher on Prime. Don’t have Netflix, Disney+, or any other streaming service. I only have Prime Video because it was a freebie with Prime. There’s nothing new with video games either, just sequels and more of the same.
As a Tolkien lover who first jumped into Middle Earth back in late 80s with the Ralph Bakshi movie (the book came later), I was intrigued by the idea of a series based on the Silmarillion, but as soon as I saw the first trailers I totally avoided the series and hug once more my LOTR DVD collection. As for Amazon Prime Video, their only tv series I'll be looking towards will be Reacher season 2, since I really enjoyed the first season.
Could not be bothered to even finish episode 2. I tried to watch it but the protests from inside my soul and from those in my house were too loud and we decided to re-watch Eureka. Season 1. We all agreed after just 10 minutes of the 1st episode of Eureka that the content was better, more to talk about, and more interesting than an hour of the first episode of RoP.

It's a makeup choice, and can be shrugged off if everything else was ok. what can't be excused, is the actress being told "You go on camera and make emphasis on you being the _FIRST!_ female dwarf on screen! that's what we're selling here! sell it!", and her following suit without even double-checking, first, the claim itself, second, the script that she was given to work with on set, and third, THE ACTUAL LORE, which has been out there for literally 100 years! same with the Picard series! literal 50 years of lore across multiple media! you can't miss something as pivotal to the story as the driving force behind an entire RACE!

I have heard that season 2 is supposed to be 12 episodes, but don't quote me on that. I am going to make a prediction, and mark my words. Season 2 will get such poor viewing it will get yanked off its streaming channel BEFORE the end of the season. Amazon doesn't care if people are watching, as long as they have lots of paid subscribers. In fact, Amazon has bigger profits if people subscribe and don't watch. Watching makes their servers work harder and sucks up bandwidth.
Oddly enough, I’ve met someone that actually loved the show. He is on my wife’s side of the family so I didn’t take the bait when he said it was perfect and held to Tolkien’s vision. She feels the same way I do so I just nodded and let that part of the conversation die… Unlike how Amazon murdered Tolkien’s work.

Just because they used some of the same names does not make it legit or a spinoff. I mean, is the Bourne series a spinoff of James Bond just because you could somehow link through the CIA (Felix Lighter) to Treadstone by making shit up? Just because someone says it's a spinoff does not make it copacetic to the original source material; dates and actual history were changed to make a new story, an abomination of the original creation. I don't know that anyone likes the little people in ROP but there is plenty of wiggle room there, why change the stuff set in stone? Plenty of room to create without shitting on the source.
@@rodneybray5827 Semantics and my point stands, despite a poor show the book shelves are still full of the original books and nobody was forced to watch anything they did not want too. The first Dune adaptation did not murder anyone's childhood or take the book away from anyone either, but yet it still created some small audience in the end and that's a really bad adaptation. As for why they went they way they did, who the hell knows, there are mistakes and then there are mistakes. I think people could have lived with the Proto-Hobbits, but its the Sauron vs Galadriel storyline that is the real damaging one for the story writers. It is sad as far as I am concerned. A bunch of writers got together and this is what they thought was a good idea... its almost unimaginable yet here we are.
Reacher was a joy. They tried so hard to keep it close to the book. Reacher is exactly who I imagined...actually he's perfect.Supporting cast very good too.
Used to think that there'd be a point where as audience figures fell they'd put their hands up and start working with the audience to create good material. Realise now that they genuinely don't give a shit as they hate anyone that cares about this as we just don't 'get it'. If it does collapse they'll just move onto the next thing to destroy.
They can try but the problem is the economy is in a nosedive and companies have wised up to the fact that the most unprofitable move you can make is hiring based on DEI. The woke cultists are only able to find jobs at times of luxury.
I watched all eight because for the first time in my life, I was overwhelmingly compelled to watch something that I had lived and loved since I was a small child die, week by week, in front of me. I am proud to tell you that even right until the end I had a fools hope that it could be saved, right until the last breath and credits I held that hope til it was gone.
The best show Prime ever made was Bosch. Bosch is a very intelligent cop drama with excellent scripts, stories, and acting, plus the cast is naturally diverse without being forced (imagine that). But the show is somewhat niche, it’s a little dry, and a little slow for mass appeal. But smart people who like detective stories with some drama will enjoy. (Avoid the last season, ugh. And I have not sampled the follow-up series called Bosch Legacy I think.)
One of my best buddies watched it and liked it. But he has never read the books, and I am not even sure if he watched all three of the Peter Jackson movies. I told him how disrespectful it was to Tolkien’s work, and he really listened and agreed with my observations. And he knows how deeply I have gotten into Tolkien lately after reading and being blown away from Tolkien’s landmark (and for me, life changing) essay “On Fairy-Stories”. And he admits that had he known those things, he might have thought a second time. But to be fair to the show, he liked the overall feel and story. I know I would not from what I have watched of it (and that was already too much for me). So, they may have convinced a lot of newbies and people who just watch tv to turn off their brain. At its best, it’s just another mediocre tv show, with overblown production values. And that’s at its best. Which is less of when it’s at its worst.
The elves come across as leprechauns. I can't help but remember the overwhelming praise Peter Jackson's LOTR garnered because it so faithfully depicted the books. In particular, there was a lot said at the time about his casting-director's ability to find so many extras who looked like Tolkien's elves. I don't begrudged the attempt to bring some diversity to the tales of The Second Age, just the inadequate attempt. The Stranger should have been one of The Blue Wizards, he could have easily been a POC, both of them, and then made central to the plot as they gathered information across the land, interacting with all the different peoples. Instead of the elf being non-canonically black, the village healer could have been black. It's also insulting to have a High King of the elves who's not able to articulate his own speeches, but needs to have Galadriel's sidekick, Elrond, write words for him. And I have to mention the spindly armed high elven smith, who looks like he couldn't lift a five-pound hammer Galadriel shows that the writers were unable to create a woman character of great intelligence, insight, discipline, and power. So they settled on a subpar action figure. And how she'll transform from that into the central figure of The White Council we know in The Third Age, is obviously beyond their creative abilities. Unlike most of those who criticized the first-season, I actually enjoyed the majority of the Harfoots' subplot. But when the series culminates in the triad of the strong woman leaders, with every male character reduced to subordinates, villains, cowards, and incompetents, I had to finally admit that this particular collection of "studio creatives" simply weren't able to save the disaster they created out of Tolkien's legacy. Hopefully it will be like Game of Thrones, but in reverse.
I personally can't wait for season 2...to watch it tank and be absolutely ridiculed and destroyed by The Fellowship. Go back to the shadow! You cannot pass!
I think it’s important to keep in mind that even if there were 37% of people who suffered through that mess, that same 37% isn’t coming back for season 2. My brother and I made it through Wheel of Time season 1 and there’s 0 chance I’ll watch even a single clip from season 2. I’ve suffered enough.
It'll get better in season 2. Give it a chance. Tolkien universe is rich with great characters story and depth. Give it time to get better next season.

@@rhysproudmourne1646 Westworld was awesome in season 1 and 2. Season 3 was awful and 4 was better but really 3&4 is a pass. Rightfully HBO cancelled it. Here there's alot of stories to tell with lots of room for expansion. I'm thinking season 1 is just world building and setting up the characters so season 2 should be alot better. The pace is kinda slow compared to the movies but that's to be expected for a TV show. Next season will be alot better.

I wouldn’t quote someone who made a mess of a story as a reliable source afterwards for their continuing efforts. They’re not trustworthy. They don’t have a good track record. I’m not giving them any of my time. You don’t go back to the restaurant that sits you, then takes 2 hours and 45 minutes to bring out food that’s been burnt and tastes bad, just because it MIGHT be better. Amazon hasn’t changed the cooks or staff, it won’t be any better. They haven’t learned their lesson. Throwing money at a show isn’t a way to create a show.

It sounds like the same still holds true today - relying on their internal people giving them feedback - all of whom know how important this show is to Amazon, and the only "external" numbers coming from Parrot, who is incentivized by their contractual relationship with Amazon to lie, their "internal conversations" all revolve around the information they WANT to believe. It will not end well for Amazon.
I was one of the few unfortunate ones who watched the whole series, hoping against hope they redeem themselves. For the next season I hope you guys take this pain because frankly, now I can't.
Now the next big question: Of the 37% of people who finished the first season, what percentage of THOSE people will finish the second season? Taking all bets ladies and gentlemen, taking all bets!
Can you imagine being the Amazon executives behind the Vox Machina show, sitting there like “are we a joke to you?” Granted all they really did was give the Critical Role crew money and resources to do whatever they wanted with their show (which ironically is why this is still the only successful fantasy series on Amazon Prime) but I will give the execs due credit for having the wisdom to just stay in the background and let the actual creative people work. And just think about how awkward it must be at Prime Studios where you have teams that made The Expanse, Vox Machina, and Jack Reacher having to play nice and pretend that Rings of Power isn’t the dumpsterfire they all know it is.
I downloaded 3 episodes on the Prime video app. Watched the first episode. Couldn't believe they hired disabled kids as writers and amateurs who never took acting lasses as actors. Promptly stopped halfway through episode 2 and deleted all the episodes on their app. I'm not even a lotr fan or a white guy and it still managed to irritate me.

Yhe 2 episode battle next season isn't actually with weapons. It's about an unresolved issue about something that happened in high school between 2 characters who are married and it takes 2 episodes to get thru the argument they have
I wonder how many people just put the show on the TV while they did other things. It's got a nice visual aesthetic (though, I did't watch one episode) so I could see people doing the dishes with it on, possibly on mute.
I actually loved Rings of Power! I don’t understand all of the hate surrounding it! Galadriel has an amazing nuanced character arc that was intended to be a slow burn for her character development, and her characterization of someone who went through trauma felt so realistic!!! Just kidding, Rings of Power was garbage, I didn’t like it. Show lacks nuance and pacing. Not a fan of the creators being delusional about it being a success either. Sure there are keyboard warriors out there defending the show with “tooth and nail” but not a single person in the real world actually cared about the show
I'm seriously starting to believe, that Disney's boy, JJ, sent Pain & M'Kay to Amazon with the express purpose of torpedoing the Series. That's the only way I can account for this many stupid decisions made successively. I'll give them this, they did produce the most entertaining show I've never watched.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: The week after its last episode aired, Amazon's one billion dollar TV show got bumped off the weekly streaming top ten by Netflix reruns of the Gilmore Girls, a show that ended fifteen years ago. You can't make excuses for that.
The thing is, some people will just finish a show's season just to complete it, no matter how bad, so 37% audience retention at the end is worse than it sounds.

Amazon will know exactly who watches TROP, because it has to be streamed or downloaded through prime. They’ll know exactly how many minutes are watched and everything.

My friends, obsessed over LOTR as kids. They watched Rings of Failure, enjoyed it even, just happy to be back in Middle Earth. When I asked how the writing was, they admitted it sucked. We talked about it, turns out this is the first franchise to get this treatment for them. I bet that 37% either didn't care as much, or doesn't have the "I'm just over this" mentality most of us have by now, because this is not our first rodeo.

If its Middle Earth I'm going to watch it all and honestly those numbers sound about right to me. Say what you will but the show did have some strong points despite the hate it deservedly received. There are not many Fantasy shows that had visuals on that level and I would argue that the Galadriel/Sauron storyline is what really needed to be scrapped. The thing with the Mithril curing elf cancer as well admittingly, but 85% of the dwarf material was well done. In the end its Fantasy made by committee and the writing is not only bad, but insulting. The Sauron thing, the swim, ohhh boy.....
I know some folks who have taken fandom into their identity. They are simply beyond questioning whether a part of their fandom is good or not... they MUST consume it. Now, when it comes time to watch things over and over they may select some things over others, and may occupy themselves with something while their show is just playing in the background. They have preferences. But they will NEVER say that a part of their fandom is bad. Because it is who they are.

I still remember playing Aragorn in the LOTR: Two Towers game. Having to unlock all the badass moves like "Bane of Isildur", Killing orcs left and right. And good graphics too for such an old game.

I would consider The Boys a breakout hit with multiple seasons and Reacher/The Terminal List are right there. All three outperformed RoP.
Bosch is better than all of them but it’s a personal preference. Prime has some good shows but there is no way they make a profit. People get Prime for the shopping and shipping benefit, not to watch shows. Plus it doesn’t work very well for me; TONS of problems with sound and picture not syncing, even with shows I paid for. And I watch through the Amazon Fire Stick, inexcusable.
There are a ton of great originals on Amazon actually. This was one of their worst.

Im a musician, I’m thankful when people listen to my art, which I don’t even push on my closest friends or family.
You can tell these people aren’t artists, artists make it for themselves as an expression of their emotion/creativity/etc, for their own fulfilment, and may choose to share it with others.
They don’t demand your attention, demand you pay them for the privilege, and attack your character/morality if you don’t like it.
People are so busy and stressed, expecting them to make time for your art is pretty selfish.
This is a direct collision between a high-handed and dogmatic corporate environment's utter contempt for the creative process and the reality of the garbage they've produced. I'm sure they can get 100% agreement with any garbage they want in the meeting rooms and it's incredibly annoying to them that they can't dominate the actual viewers the same way.

Seems that the whole purpose this was made in the first place was simply to make something that had woke points, and with the express purpose of doing it with a major franchise that was entirely not woke in the least. Since there's so much backlash from those producing the "art", I'd say this is all an exercise in trying to indoctrinate others and not at all about art.
In the history of the world, people make all kinds of things for all kinds of reasons. Much of it has art within it because people have feelings and those feelings get translated into their work. Anyone with any common sense or good spirit knows it's wrong to dismiss a person based on their acceptance of anything else made within the world. Tastes are completely subjective. Heck, not everyone likes fantasy or the LOTR to begin with. It's very popular but hardly a must-like by itself. Why should ROP be universally loved by all? This is all insane to even think about.

The Expanse was better... they should have leaned into it. Everyone wanted more of that show, but their own in-fighting and politics ended up killing it off.
Politics didn't kill off the Expanse, it pulled off the exact opposite of GoT S8 and gave us a bittersweet, but competent finale until(if) future seasons are greenlit.
The books jump into the future by several decades. It didn't die because of internal strife.

The problem is: the story makes a 20 year time jump, between book 6 ( where the show ended) and book 7. Allegedly, the producers want to wait some years for the actors to age and then adapt the final books as a movie trilogy, but these are all rumors nothing official.

I have Prime and I didn't even bother watching it. What really sucks is you can no longer leave reviews or read reviews on any of Amazons digital movies. Now I'm forced to go to other sites to investigate a movie to see if I may like it. This has caused me to not click buy because it's no longer as easy.

I’m 65. I’m almost totally disinterested in modern TV series and movies. I had been a fan of Dr Who but Chibnall’s run with it destroyed that completely. Currently rewatching series, such a Person of Interest and Reacher on Prime. Don’t have Netflix, Disney+, or any other streaming service. I only have Prime Video because it was a freebie with Prime. There’s nothing new with video games either, just sequels and more of the same.

As a Tolkien lover who first jumped into Middle Earth back in late 80s with the Ralph Bakshi movie (the book came later), I was intrigued by the idea of a series based on the Silmarillion, but as soon as I saw the first trailers I totally avoided the series and hug once more my LOTR DVD collection.
As for Amazon Prime Video, their only tv series I'll be looking towards will be Reacher season 2, since I really enjoyed the first season.

Could not be bothered to even finish episode 2. I tried to watch it but the protests from inside my soul and from those in my house were too loud and we decided to re-watch Eureka. Season 1. We all agreed after just 10 minutes of the 1st episode of Eureka that the content was better, more to talk about, and more interesting than an hour of the first episode of RoP.

Oddly enough, I’ve met someone that actually loved the show. He is on my wife’s side of the family so I didn’t take the bait when he said it was perfect and held to Tolkien’s vision. She feels the same way I do so I just nodded and let that part of the conversation die… Unlike how Amazon murdered Tolkien’s work.

I watched all eight because for the first time in my life, I was overwhelmingly compelled to watch something that I had lived and loved since I was a small child die, week by week, in front of me. I am proud to tell you that even right until the end I had a fools hope that it could be saved, right until the last breath and credits I held that hope til it was gone.

The best show Prime ever made was Bosch. Bosch is a very intelligent cop drama with excellent scripts, stories, and acting, plus the cast is naturally diverse without being forced (imagine that).
But the show is somewhat niche, it’s a little dry, and a little slow for mass appeal. But smart people who like detective stories with some drama will enjoy.
(Avoid the last season, ugh. And I have not sampled the follow-up series called Bosch Legacy I think.)
One of my best buddies watched it and liked it. But he has never read the books, and I am not even sure if he watched all three of the Peter Jackson movies. I told him how disrespectful it was to Tolkien’s work, and he really listened and agreed with my observations. And he knows how deeply I have gotten into Tolkien lately after reading and being blown away from Tolkien’s landmark (and for me, life changing) essay “On Fairy-Stories”. And he admits that had he known those things, he might have thought a second time. But to be fair to the show, he liked the overall feel and story. I know I would not from what I have watched of it (and that was already too much for me). So, they may have convinced a lot of newbies and people who just watch tv to turn off their brain. At its best, it’s just another mediocre tv show, with overblown production values. And that’s at its best. Which is less of when it’s at its worst.
My buddy and I tuned in and stopped watching within 15 min. Saw the troll fighting scene and said nah 😂
The elves come across as leprechauns. I can't help but remember the overwhelming praise Peter Jackson's LOTR garnered because it so faithfully depicted the books. In particular, there was a lot said at the time about his casting-director's ability to find so many extras who looked like Tolkien's elves. I don't begrudged the attempt to bring some diversity to the tales of The Second Age, just the inadequate attempt. The Stranger should have been one of The Blue Wizards, he could have easily been a POC, both of them, and then made central to the plot as they gathered information across the land, interacting with all the different peoples. Instead of the elf being non-canonically black, the village healer could have been black. It's also insulting to have a High King of the elves who's not able to articulate his own speeches, but needs to have Galadriel's sidekick, Elrond, write words for him. And I have to mention the spindly armed high elven smith, who looks like he couldn't lift a five-pound hammer
Galadriel shows that the writers were unable to create a woman character of great intelligence, insight, discipline, and power. So they settled on a subpar action figure. And how she'll transform from that into the central figure of The White Council we know in The Third Age, is obviously beyond their creative abilities.
Unlike most of those who criticized the first-season, I actually enjoyed the majority of the Harfoots' subplot. But when the series culminates in the triad of the strong woman leaders, with every male character reduced to subordinates, villains, cowards, and incompetents, I had to finally admit that this particular collection of "studio creatives" simply weren't able to save the disaster they created out of Tolkien's legacy. Hopefully it will be like Game of Thrones, but in reverse.
I personally can't wait for season 2...to watch it tank and be absolutely ridiculed and destroyed by The Fellowship.

My brother and I made it through Wheel of Time season 1 and there’s 0 chance I’ll watch even a single clip from season 2. I’ve suffered enough.

Here there's alot of stories to tell with lots of room for expansion. I'm thinking season 1 is just world building and setting up the characters so season 2 should be alot better. The pace is kinda slow compared to the movies but that's to be expected for a TV show. Next season will be alot better.

They don’t have a good track record. I’m not giving them any of my time. You don’t go back to the restaurant that sits you, then takes 2 hours and 45 minutes to bring out food that’s been burnt and tastes bad, just because it MIGHT be better.
Amazon hasn’t changed the cooks or staff, it won’t be any better. They haven’t learned their lesson. Throwing money at a show isn’t a way to create a show.

Without a reliable intelligence network in place, he could only trust what his people were telling him, and they were incentivized to lie. Overall, the operation put the Allies back TEN DAYS - not the weeks Yamamoto thought his victory would achieve.
It sounds like the same still holds true today - relying on their internal people giving them feedback - all of whom know how important this show is to Amazon, and the only "external" numbers coming from Parrot, who is incentivized by their contractual relationship with Amazon to lie, their "internal conversations" all revolve around the information they WANT to believe. It will not end well for Amazon.
I was one of the few unfortunate ones who watched the whole series, hoping against hope they redeem themselves. For the next season I hope you guys take this pain because frankly, now I can't.

Can you imagine being the Amazon executives behind the Vox Machina show, sitting there like “are we a joke to you?” Granted all they really did was give the Critical Role crew money and resources to do whatever they wanted with their show (which ironically is why this is still the only successful fantasy series on Amazon Prime) but I will give the execs due credit for having the wisdom to just stay in the background and let the actual creative people work.
And just think about how awkward it must be at Prime Studios where you have teams that made The Expanse, Vox Machina, and Jack Reacher having to play nice and pretend that Rings of Power isn’t the dumpsterfire they all know it is.
37% from what initial audience number 37% sounds like a lot but clearly 25 million was not the actual number
I downloaded 3 episodes on the Prime video app. Watched the first episode. Couldn't believe they hired disabled kids as writers and amateurs who never took acting lasses as actors. Promptly stopped halfway through episode 2 and deleted all the episodes on their app. I'm not even a lotr fan or a white guy and it still managed to irritate me.

Self deluding optimism in Amazon is amazing! This is like watching Chernobyl mini-series; " You DIDN'T see the graphite on the ground", "RBMK reactors don't explode". etc 😂 Same thing; show was big success...

Yhe 2 episode battle next season isn't actually with weapons. It's about an unresolved issue about something that happened in high school between 2 characters who are married and it takes 2 episodes to get thru the argument they have
The "modern audience" is witnessing the horrorshow that everything they loved is being mangled and regurgitated for them to consume again and again.

I wonder how many people just put the show on the TV while they did other things. It's got a nice visual aesthetic (though, I did't watch one episode) so I could see people doing the dishes with it on, possibly on mute.
They had the blue prints for Guaranteed win and their game was " we're gonna do the absolute and complete opposite" 😂
I actually loved Rings of Power! I don’t understand all of the hate surrounding it! Galadriel has an amazing nuanced character arc that was intended to be a slow burn for her character development, and her characterization of someone who went through trauma felt so realistic!!!

Show lacks nuance and pacing. Not a fan of the creators being delusional about it being a success either.
Sure there are keyboard warriors out there defending the show with “tooth and nail” but not a single person in the real world actually cared about the show

I'm seriously starting to believe, that Disney's boy, JJ, sent Pain & M'Kay to Amazon with the express purpose of torpedoing the Series.
That's the only way I can account for this many stupid decisions made successively.
I'll give them this, they did produce the most entertaining show I've never watched.
I watched the lord of the rings as a kid. Played shadow of Mordor & the sequel but I never press play when I scroll past this show 😂 Nerdrotic warned me!
