Point is, I always put the key in with the round side downwards, and in this position, you can't really reach for that rim sort of ... what is it. A knob. So I watched this video just now and after finishing I went right outside in cold and pitch black darkness to try it out. OMG what a nice hack. With the turn signal lever and all. Super cool. THANKS!
I literally just went out to the garage to try out the park light thing with thre indicators on my 147 jtd. Given that it's pretty much the same car with a different body, hardly surprising that it does it too. Already discovered the quirk about the windows not going up with the remote. There's also a quirk with the boot release button where it doesn't work if a doors been left open for a while. Closing and opening the LH front door resets it. #becausealfa
There is also a "night mode" function. If you press and hold the dashboard light dimming button (-) it will turn off all the lights apart from the Speedo
Hack #2 and #3 actually applies to the Alfa Romeo Giulia aswell and in the case of number 2, you can actually hold the lock button on the keyfob to wind the windows back up again, bloody brilliant xD

Knew 4 of the 6, great video! Didn’t know about the park light and follow me home option. Doesn’t the cord in the boot shown in the video open the fuel filler cap though? In mine, the release to get out of the boot is on the inside of one of the handles on the boot lid and the one located in the boot opens the fuel filler cap ;) ow mine also has the amazing feature of opening the fuel filler cap while driving without pressing the button.. but that’s just character I guess :P
I really appreciate your channel and videos about GT. I have one since a few months and I had no idea about the #2 hack, pretty awesome feature. Anyway, keep it up Sir, hope you will have 3 000 000 subs, not 3k!
Is that ignition button to go into park accessories? My 156 has it and I have to turn on the ignition to use accessories with the engine off. I think my button is broken. I'm going to try the follow me home feature as well, I'm sure I've seen that on the list of features on the used car adverts.
Hi mate, yes there are lots of quirks which are billed as “features” on Italian cars generally! I think they have a “Quirk Manager” who thinks these things up!
Creaking suspension needs new arms, or anti roll bar bushes, stiff gears is an easy fix - change top hat bushes on the gear linkage (under the battery tray.) costs about a Fiver 👍🏻
Creaking suspension is 9/10 the upper arm bushes. There are two ways to solve it: 1. When replacing the bushes make sure they are well lubricated (or overlubricated) 2. Replace the arms with ones that have lubrication points (my guess is that they will tend to rust, so more care will have to be taken there) for the bushes, and replace the rubber ones with polyurethane. They will still need lube every 1-2 years. I just remove the top arms, recondition the ball joints and re-use the poly bushes (they will last longer than the car in most cases), because proper german TRW top arms are expensive. BTW there is a hack on quick top arm removal. Requires to drill a 1 by 1 inch hole/door in the wheel arch liner, and inserting the long top bolt the other way round (bolt head facing to the back of the car now. This is where the hole in the wheel arch comes in). Originally the bolt can't be removed easily because the coil spring is in the way. Failsafe designed by engineers, but makes life harder for us.
The Alfa Nut thanks so much! I showed the tricks to my mam who owns a GT and she loved them, especially the walk home and window tricks. Would love to see if there’s anything for the 156 as I’ve just got my hands on one!

Very interesting! Do you by chance know whether the rear seats actually fold all the way down in the GT, or get stuck half the way down like in other Alfas? Thanks :)
Hi mate, thanks for watching! No unfortunately they only fold down until they get stuck on the rear seat base 🙄 other cars allow the rear seat to be lifted up so the seat backs fold flat - why didn’t Alfa? Hinges are not expensive! 😂
@ohreally1021 My GT was my Wife’s daily car and it is a hugely practical daily - the rear seats are full sized adult ones and the boot (trunk!) is also very large. Unless your dog is a Great Dane, there is plenty of space - I got all my band gear in there several times: amps, guitars, speakers. It’s amazingly spacious! Are you in the US? If so how did get your hands on a GT? 😉👍🏻
Now that 'Car Mechanics' have finished their GT project, maybe they would not mind a major new up and coming Alfa Romeo youtuber to take their car out for a spin. Give them a bell, they may just say yes!
haha, i bought a Gt today. In a slightly nervous stage of "what gremlins will I find, how much will it cost me". I activated the follow me home feature by accident and thought it was an issue.. doh... One genuine thing that's already occurred is VDC failure though :(
Hi Daniel, the JTS engine is not as reliable as the Twinspark but its still good if you look after it properly. Make sure that it has good service history and that the floor is not rusty underneath! Suspension is quite easy and cheap to repair if it is worn and try to find a car with leather interior as this lasts much better. Good luck! 👍🏻
Sounds like your adjuster mechanisms are stuck fully up! I’m not sure how you would adjust them manually… try going onto www.alfaowner.com and asking on the GT section - someone will be able to help 👍🏻
I really want to buy that car but as you said there are like 5 videos on UA-cam about it, 3 of those being your ones... I need more info in order to finally decide if I should buy it or the bmw e46 coupe
Hi Stefan, thanks for watching! You need to drive both cars to decide. The GT looks better and has more character but the BMW is a good car too. GT has better fuel consumption if you buy the diesel and can be tuned to give much more power. Its also cheap! 👍🏻
@@TheAlfaNut Hi! Thanks for the reply. In my opinion the GT is a far better looking car than the e46, my only consern with the alfa is the suspension... I'm from Serbia where the roads are mostly bad and the bmw will probably have an easyer time on them then the alfa. Still the GT is my current dream car, it is also cheaper and I'm a student so that's a huge plus but I don't wanna spend more time at the mechanic than on the road...
@@TheAlfaNut 6 months have passed, and the decision has been made. I'm now a proud GT owner ☺️ Thank you for all the info on the car, your videos on the GT really helped a lot. Can't wait for the current coronavirus situation to pass so I can take it to a twisty road 🙃
Hey Alfa Nut, I have a problem with flashing odometer on my q2 dash Alfa GT 2005 1.9 jtd. How can it be fixed? Already tried to pair new cluster with a computer and it failed to pair, but everything else works, except flashing is present.
Strike86 it’s not meant for 1 right hand drive, and 2 people with long legs (if you are further forward, you only rest your elbow). Fix: 1: be Italian 2: be Italian Fix works perfectly. 100% guaranteed
A couple of other things which weren't obvious to me until someone showed me... the bases of the back seats fold forward before dropping the rear seats. Two keys when held together roughly match the shape of the front grill.

@@kahumike when driving at night, you can switch all the instrument cluster and panel lights off, except the speedo and a couple of other lamps, if you hit the rev limiter it'll all come back on. Long press the '-' button on the cabin illumination panel, when it is dark and you have dipped headlamps on. I thought this worked on all 147 and GT models, but maybe not if Chris didn't manage it
Hack #1: You show the hack done with the door open instead of the door closed, meaning the window will stop at a lower position. Is that important: to do it with the door open?
Understand the irony....but for anyone who doesn't, Alfa deliberately do what they do - for example, the armrest lowest position is actually a perfect compromise allowing you to use it and still reach the handbrake. The window drop allows Italians sitting on a sunny café terrace to drop the windows and let the heat out of the car before they go back to it. When you're back in you can obviously raise the windows normally. Why would you want a remote raise feature??

Knew 4 of the 6, great video! Didn’t know about the park light and follow me home option. Doesn’t the cord in the boot shown in the video open the fuel filler cap though? In mine, the release to get out of the boot is on the inside of one of the handles on the boot lid and the one located in the boot opens the fuel filler cap ;) ow mine also has the amazing feature of opening the fuel filler cap while driving without pressing the button.. but that’s just character I guess :P
Hi Jeroen - yes you are right but I couldnt find the boot release button, so thought I’d use the cord for comedy value!
No, it's not the fuel filler cap, it's an airbrake and it's an integral part of your Alfa's braking system....isn't it?
Great. What is that gear leaver. Lock difrent that normal one.?
Its aftermarket - made by "Richbrook". :0)
I really appreciate your channel and videos about GT. I have one since a few months and I had no idea about the #2 hack, pretty awesome feature. Anyway, keep it up Sir, hope you will have 3 000 000 subs, not 3k!
Thanks for watching mate - it's a young channel - maybe I will have 3 Million one day!
I am so in love with my GT Arese/Busso! So rare.
You're welcome, enjoy your Alfa!
👍🏽👍🏻👍👍🏿
Not bad 5/6, did not know about the windows down function, the lack of up function on my 08 I found out aswell
Hi Dominic, yes the non “up” function was a change due to a child being trapped in an automatic window apparently.
I was just bit annoyed by it as my old 166 did close them.
~4, the armrest dropping down, works really well on the 166.
Pick my gt up this wkend I cant wait ..
Hi Chris, thanks for watching - hope you enjoy it!
Oh, I wonder how many of these can be done on my 156. Gotta try it all as soon as possible!
Haha - yes, some of them work on the 156!
yeah it s true, we don't found lot of video from alfa romeo GT .. it s a shame ...from a lover of GT in France

Hi Eduard! You’re very welcome my friend, I hope your window is working ok again? 😎👍🏻
@@TheAlfaNut Is working perfect thank you so much for help ❤️❤️🫶🏻
Is that ignition button to go into park accessories? My 156 has it and I have to turn on the ignition to use accessories with the engine off. I think my button is broken. I'm going to try the follow me home feature as well, I'm sure I've seen that on the list of features on the used car adverts.
Hi mate, yes there are lots of quirks which are billed as “features” on Italian cars generally! I think they have a “Quirk Manager” who thinks these things up!
How about a how to to fix the broken door handles, Creaking suspension and stiff gears. I love the GT but seriously flawed.
what do you mean by "stiff gears"?
Creaking suspension needs new arms, or anti roll bar bushes, stiff gears is an easy fix - change top hat bushes on the gear linkage (under the battery tray.) costs about a Fiver 👍🏻
Creaking suspension is 9/10 the upper arm bushes. There are two ways to solve it:
1. When replacing the bushes make sure they are well lubricated (or overlubricated)
Its not flawed. There are just "things that are not that important..." 😀
Can you do one of these videos for your 156? Thanks!
Hi Christopher - thanks for watching. Yes I will make a similar video for the 156 👍🏻
The Alfa Nut thanks so much! I showed the tricks to my mam who owns a GT and she loved them, especially the walk home and window tricks. Would love to see if there’s anything for the 156 as I’ve just got my hands on one!
About hack #2... In a 2007 model with a broken driver's window switch... If you open the window using the remote... How do you close it again afterwards??? 🤔
Hi Takis - you take the emergency key out and use that in the drivers door lock! 👍🏻
@@TheAlfaNut really appreciate the reply! Emergency key... You mean the second key I ve been given which is without remote... Correct? Wow... Guess I couldn't even imagine that... Had to strip down the door and mess with the switches to get the window closed again... And still not sure what exactly is my faulty part... Buttons are broken but there's must be another broblem as well because I press with a screwdriver and nothing is happening... Although... Mirrors switch is working... Love that car... Bought it used a week ago... But that thing is driving me crazy... Again... Really appreciate your response... And forgive me about the loooong reply... I m sure you feel my pain... 😔
In my gt while pressing the lock button in remote control the windows are closing
Is your GT before 2005?
@@TheAlfaNut yes ...made july 2004 came out of the factory...bought it 2/2005...10 years in my hands and 190.000 klm...know i drive alfa 159 tbi sportwagon

BTW it's possible to workaround this for newer cars.

Nice one,"our"make wouldnt be the same without things like the arm rest, puts off all those sensible Vw and audi types..ugh!..lower prices=more fun for me,Cuore Sportivo !!
Good point - keep away VAG trendies! 😉
Thanks for fix my window problem. My girlfriend leave me this month because she hear the air noise because the window. Now she can come back. Haha
Happy I could help! 😁
@@TheAlfaNutPerhaps the Italians get offended if you use their cars to haul stuff around? I guess I need to see if my dog fits in the trunk somehow :)
The red pull cord is for the manual fuel flap on mine if the power button fails in the cabin
Thanks for watching mate, lets hope you never have to use it! 😉👍🏻
@@TheAlfaNut haha 100% 😄
Now that 'Car Mechanics' have finished their GT project, maybe they would not mind a major new up and coming Alfa Romeo youtuber to take their car out for a spin. Give them a bell, they may just say yes!
Hi Henry - thats not a bad idea actually, unless they have sold it already!
Any tips on getting my fob to work - I’ve tried battery etc, and Delphi says the key remote is working but it just won’t unlock via the fob!
Sorry mate, no clue on remotes as to why they may or may not work - try asking on Alfaowner.com?
haha, i bought a Gt today. In a slightly nervous stage of "what gremlins will I find, how much will it cost me". I activated the follow me home feature by accident and thought it was an issue.. doh... One genuine thing that's already occurred is VDC failure though :(
Good luck Kristopher - if a GT has been looked after, it will be reliable. If not, you might find it will cost you some money!
#2, #3 and #5 works in 147 too
Hi wassilia - yes it seems so. Thanks for watching
thanks for that i had a gt for six and a half years fantastic car but i didnt know the first five of your hacks.

Can’t decide if I’ll go with a v6 manual gt or 1750 159 as my next daily 🤔
1750 159 is much better
The 1750 petrol engine is a nice one.

Great! I'm italian but i deserved an english man to make me fix the window problem! Thanks dude 😉
Prego! 🤣
Hello guys, Im going buy, I hope, GT 2.0JTS, what you can tell me about the car and the motor? Thank you
Hi Daniel, the JTS engine is not as reliable as the Twinspark but its still good if you look after it properly. Make sure that it has good service history and that the floor is not rusty underneath! Suspension is quite easy and cheap to repair if it is worn and try to find a car with leather interior as this lasts much better. Good luck! 👍🏻
@@TheAlfaNut but its more powerful right? The car i see have 170000KM, year 2006. If you let me, I send you a email whitch some pictures.

Sorry to break the news to you but any cheap car is going to need money spent on it! Both cars will need maintenance so buy the one you like 👍🏻
@@TheAlfaNut 6 months have passed, and the decision has been made. I'm now a proud GT owner ☺️

Can you hack the fuel consumption on the V6?
Yes, brew your own bio-fuel using old copies of the Alfa club magazine! Tastes good too 🤪

Hi, this is a Richbrook gear knob I think - try Amazon 👍🏻
4/6 for me. Any idea where the boot liner came from ? It looks tidy.
Hi Chris, sorry I don't - the liner was in the car when I bought it. Very handy though - thick plastic & waterproof with a lip all the way round!
A couple of other things which weren't obvious to me until someone showed me... the bases of the back seats fold forward before dropping the rear seats. Two keys when held together roughly match the shape of the front grill.

Hi Keith, common problem I’m afraid, mine does too. Changing the clutch doesn’t seem to help so I can only think it must be a leverage type issue with the pedal? 😕
I wonder if changing the pedal return spring to one that has less tension would help

Hack #1: You show the hack done with the door open instead of the door closed, meaning the window will stop at a lower position. Is that important: to do it with the door open?

AWESOME!!! I love it xD
Thanks for watching mate! Appreciate it 👍🏻
Make videos about the 159
Coming up soon! 👍🏻
Simple - if you have all the windows down and you park up - raising all the windows simultaneously before you lock up is easier!
