Good review. Steampunk stories set in the future have never been to my taste. For me, the fun is in reading about an alternate history or past and how steam technology was repurposed to affect that world. But of course, to each their own.

It is indeed a challenging book. There are many layers to the author's world-building.

I definitely prefer the historical sort myself. This one has value as social commentary but I just wish it was a bit more concise!
I can only find this book for about 200 dollars. That is way too much, maybe they will reprint it.
