- I have been lucky enough to travel to some of the most spectacular islands around the world. None quite match the reefs and drop offs of Vamizi and Metundo islands in the Quirimbas archipelago, Mozambique. This is African Spearfishing Diaries.

Thank you. Nuisance followed us around all the time.
Wow! Nice video brother🤙
Thank you
A great video opening Barret with all those fish of the coral reef & those schools of Moorish Idles. Excellent integrated drone & aerial videography.
That guy resting his loaded spear gun on that coral bottom; hope he has a good supply of rubbers.
Those same demersal & territorial fish species Red Bass (Bohar Snapper), Long-nose emperor, Potato Cod, Moorish Idle, Napoleon Parrotfish & Sweetlips, etc. all occur in the Great Barrier Reef of Australia. It is difficult to reconcile that these species swam there or ocean currents took eggs or juveniles there. Reconciled I suppose Barret as being supportive evidence for continental drift.
Thanks for sharing Barret.
Thanks man. Amazing to dive in places where all seems to be just the way it should be. The shoals of huge hump head parrotfish was definitely a highlight. Swam among a shoal of them for around 20 min. Around 20-25 fish some as long as 1.5m in length. Was in incredible. Unfortunately had some camera issues so all the footage was out of focus.🙄
Awesome adventures guys! Keep it up! ❤️
Thanks Adam
Stunning.. Please take me!!!! Well cool vid guys.. keep them coming
Another great video Barret, loved your interview on Noob Spearo too!
Thank you. Keep the comments coming.
So nice that you "promote" a way of life...not just spearfishing!! Great video once again Barret!! Thanks for sharing these magnificent moments!!
Thanks for the kind words. Will keep them coming. Would like other people to enjoy the shows as well so try not to make it all spearfishing although that is the main thing.
Nice!
Como esse quarentena estou fechado em casa a espera de novos vídeos kkk
Big carangue is in Tanzania

Happy to see you guy's, hey Thomis 😉
Show how you cook fish
but what about the logistic
you fly from where and what airline?
what is the name of the resort you stayed?
super nice video
Hi Tony. Sorry for the delay. The island is a private island and was run by andBeyond. They have now closed down and only the private owners of the villas are now going there I hear.
You fly in by private plane from Pemba in northern Mozambique.
EVERYTHING VERY AMAZING. I`M LIVING IN PEMBA AND I`AM GATHERING A MONEY TO PURCHASE MY EQUIPMENT TO ALSO ENJOY. I LOVE YOUR CONTENT, GOT ANOTHER FOLLOWER
Good to hear. Pemba is a great place. Need to get out on the boat if you can. Keep the messages coming.
13:34 "4-hours in turtle"
Damn Harvs you are living the dream, that was awesome footage, and a great Edit. Ripper fish, and the turtle footage was amazing. How long are you staying on the Vamizi Island?
Hey there. Thank you. I am no longer there. I was there for around 6 months working as a diving instructor and helping with the running of the dive centre. Was an awesome place to have spent sometime.
Barret do the people eat the coconut crabs?
Luckily not on Vamizi or Metundo. On Metundo they believe if you eat one your soul will stay on the island.
Great videos, but how are you managing to go there during the terror attacks and the isis insurgency. Is it safe, or this is before the problems.
Hi there. Was living there a few years back. Before the trouble
