- The Mercedes-Benz M-Class is a luxury midsize sports utility vehicle (SUV), first offered in 1997 as a 1998 model. It was very successful in the United States and Mexico, and after 2 years it was decided that production would be moved to the US. Today both the GL and M classes are both built in this country, mostly because we know how to build really big trucks. If you are looking for a comfortable, powerful, and luxurious SUV you probably have been looking at what the Germans are offering. I've driven the ML550 many times, it's fast as hell. When you launch one of these, it feels like you just got rear ended by a truck that forgot to stop. Destroyed so many over hyped performance cars in it. Love it
it's a lie, it's not so fast, it's actually very high fuel consuption slow elephant
As an ML350 owner most of what he says is true V6 is plenty of power. It’s smooth enough and gives plenty of power.

Its fast, and it hauls, but never had such an unreliable car
what kind of problems you had?

1. Rear glass window washer sprayer sprayed into the rear panel and flooded the 9th computer, lost all electronics :(
2. Noticed power steering fluid leaking, ended up being the rack and pinion
3. 1 oil leak per month
4. AC fans shot
5. POwer liftgate not opening
6. Headlights burnt out after replacing (maybe just a coincidence)
Now, these were all fixed by the Mercedes dealer, under warranty, BUT it's annoying to get/wait for a rental every month.
Have always had problems with MB products. Prefer the Japanese cars
TheMrsrt8 sad to hear that. Our family is a Merc family but luckily we didnt have any of these problems.
Really the prob is expensive spares

LOL, enough power? I own a 2010 ML350 and a 2008 ML550. My ML350 has enough power, it will go 130 mph electronically limited, exactly the same as the ML550. How fast do you want to go??? The ML350 will spank most other SUV's that have V8's. The ML550 will spank them all. The ML550 is an incredibly fun SUV to drive,,, Oh and the diesel is good on gas??? LMFAO...
