You two are absolutely amazing and this video made my day!!! 😭🙌🏼💙 thank you so so much for making this!!! I’m so glad you enjoyed the saga and I am very very excited to share the next saga with y’all 🥹
I actually think this is really interesting. Because historically(or as historic as we can get with legends), Alexander Hamilton and Odysseus did both have affairs. Both of these stories make a change though. Hamilton may not have felt bad about. Not saying that for sure, but affairs were not uncommon for American culture, especially from powerful men. Because Hamilton is being built up as a good guy, the guilt and extenuating circumstances are added to make it more acceptable for the audience. Odysseus, on the other hand, was in a culture where sleeping around(only by men), was not looked on nearly so much. Prostitutes and concubines were not uncommon at all for married men, and while at war acceptions from marriage were often made. Odysseus does actually love his wife though, more so than most other Greek heroes. He's in the company of Orpheus, Cadmus, and Hippomenes for really loving his wife. So to make us understand how Odysseus was acting, his action has to change to have the same impact it did on the Greek audience. He left a goddess, a very dangerous but very beautiful goddess, so he can get back to Penelope.
What really draws my attention is Circe's last two lines, "maybe one day the world will need a puppeteer no more" as you said describes a world where Circe would no longer need to be a puppeteer, as it would be a kinder place, but the last line which contradicts it "maybe one day the world will need a puppeteer more" descibes the cruel world that drives more people to be puppeteers (circe's symbol of ruthlessness), and I think it's about Odysseus, foreshadowing that he is about to embrace ruthlessness in the next saga
There Are Other Ways is such a good song to end of the Circe Saga and lead into the Underworld Saga with, so many uncertainties and questions, such an ominous feeling
12 years since he's seen Penelope, but only 10 of those were spent actually IN Troy. The rest was travel time and logistics. Full Speed Ahead tells us they are facing "600 miles of open sea". Under the best of circumstances, a ship like theirs could manage 5 knots (nautical miles per hour). This isn't something they could manage in just one go. Imagine how long it would take you to walk 600 miles, then multiply that times managing hundreds of men, supplies, terrain, meetings with other generals and kings for strategy before they even arrived in Troy. TLDR: Not a mistake.
It's actually definitely a mistake because Jay has said it was, but I agree it makes complete logistical sense so I didn't realize it was a mistake until he posted his video pointing it out
while there is a whole bunch of stuff that can explain it, Jorge himself said it was a mistake, so we found it funny that we both had made mistakes with numbers! In the last video we did on Epic Brandon had said Odysseus lost nearly half of his crew to Poseidon, which it was actually a lot more than that.
@@ivysylvan I think it was one of those where his brain did the calculations correctly, but then the narrative part of his brain thought he made a mistake.
*✨🎶“Wouldn’t you like to have some of the magic? Wouldn’t you like your outcome preferred?”🎶✨* The real magic was us breaking the internet. A preferable outcome, indeed. Hermes would be proud.
I gotta say, I really love how _Done For_ starts with a melody similar to *Habanera* from Carmen. I don't know if it was intentional or not, but in my head since Circe's modus operandi is through the art of seduction and manipulation, that little reference to the infamous seductress is pretty cool.
I’ve said it before and I want to say it again: this Saga is most likely the “calm before the storm” or the “Master of the House” of Epic: The Musical. In Les Mis, Master of the House is the only reason the musical isn’t totally depressing. I feel like The Circe Saga is doing this because the next few sagas are probably going to be rough.
The structure of There are other ways really confused me at the beginning, but not in a bad way. Circe's vocal riffs and Odysseus joining in and upping the suspense in the song made me think I just zoned out and missed half the song. I still feel like it's working and it could be that this kind of surprise is the thing that will make me love this sobg even more (it's already my fav of the saga), but I think at the moment I wish that There are other ways were two songs, or that the first part would be longer. But then again I think the double meaning of There are other ways wouldn't work as well.
I recently found at that the beginning of puppeteer has the notes from the line "we should try to find a way no one ends up daed" from Full speed ahead. It also has the piano melody from "Luck Runs out." I feel like i could listen to this whole musical 50 more times and still find a callback! Mr jalapeño really is amazing.
Wait... THAT'S why Circe tried to seduce him? I tried to find out the reason for ages. How can sleeping with him show her she can trust him? but she just wanted to use his distraction to attack and I had no idea.
Many of his videos get muted and his disputes get immediately denied, look up Poopeteer, it was our inspiration for the "original song" you hear at the start of this video

@@Undeniably_Idiotic I know, I just thought it was funny and foolish on tiktoks part.

Hermes wasn't letting the watch party happen without a bit of added excitement
underworld saga is going to destroy the internet and force it back down to 0s and 1s
circe saga broke the internet, then the underworld saga is going to kill the internet
The cellos also sound a lot like the opening of the aria the Habanera from the opera Carmen. This song is a seductive song so I just LOVE IT.
this is a perfect example of why I still love listening through this saga over and over hearing new things each time
Bro I can’t believe he crashed both crowdcast and discord UA-cam was able to handle it at least
Can't wait to see what they do for the Underworld saga!

Might do a retrospective of all of Act 1 once the Underworld Saga comes out

The Circe Saga feels like coming up for air between the Ocean Saga and the next couple sagas that are to come afterwards
Im hoping that each saga only has a few month wait for each, ceres was soo good
Might be waiting until next Christmas to get the Underworld Saga, since that was the wait between Cyclops and Ocean, but it will be worth the wait!
