What’s crazy is that if you play the game, the cheerleader skin that the unknown is using is literally that. Skin of a girl that was murdered decades ago in its lore and is using her skin. It uses its victim’s skin. But you know. Not everyone plays video games
even without reading the lore it’s makes no sense to make that correlation. it is very clear that the unknown is a thing that literally impersonates and steals identities. The va being trans shouldn’t correlate either because that va is literally known for being talented in that area of voice acting for both male and female.

Not everyone reads the lore, or plays the game. information can be manipulated in a way to make it seem as a set in stone thing. Some of the designs are sorta, problematic in my opinion especially with the context of a trans voice actor.
I feel a little like the devs had good intentions but didn't fully think through how their work will be interpreted.

We dont know much about the killer since it is called the unknown, but from the lore, we do know it did not hang itself, it does not have a gender, it mimics the clothes and voices of the people it has killed, and it does not mention it ever being human.The voice actor also said it was a misunderstanding and everything is cool. In the gameplay the killer can also mimics the sounds of survivors. So the victims as far as costumes is a grandma, & a cheerleader & whoever it got the original clothes from.

I'm kinda sick and tired of people saying the "trans community", the problem is not that the "trans community" is giving trans people a bad name, it's that people see chronically online people that are trans and refer to them in a way that implies it's all of or the majority of trans people.. Seeing that and thinking it's an accurate representation makes you equally chronically online. It's also worth noting that social media is BUILT to put the most controversial, attention seeking stuff right at your front page to keep you hooked.

i feel like the person who voiced the killer took it as a personal attack and made it into a bigger deal than what it is. I think its incredible they're able to have different voice ranges and it fits the killer well. as well as the killer not having a gender since it morphs into different things. I'm sure it wasn't intentional on how the monster looked, they were just going for something that looked creepy and usually a lot of monsters involved with the morphed theme looks similar they're twisted and distorted somehow. but this is just my personal opinion

The killer unknown lore regarding to their entire physical appearance is based off of the person they’ve killed, so if they killed a female with a skirt and long brown hair or blonde hair will develop onto the unknown, that also includes voices too. Such as a male voice and a female, which the voice actor voiced both genders. It’s not even transphobic, it’s a cool and decent idea which They took an offense to, the voice actor took back all what they said and said it wasn’t even about the character skins and looks, that behavior was supportive with the voice actor through the entirety and how people shouldn’t jump into accusations without understanding the full story, which what the voice actor did.
Maybe they feel insecure that they are also in a sense mimicking looks/voices.

However, the dead by daylight character, Im sure wasnt created to be transphobic, but it sure is neglectful by the staff to not consider this outcome, especially since it can be easily uses to make transphobuc comments and pushes harmful steriotypes. Though Im sure its just negligence

Nobody would care if she was a man. IMHO it's pathetic to voice a monster in a horror game and get mad that you voiced a monster when you see what it looks like. That person was hired to voice act because she is talented not because the DBD devs wanted to make some transphobic stereotype to humiliate her hell the thing doesn't even look human let alone male, female, or trans and it's kinda projecting insecurity to even remotely say that thing is a stereotype of your medical history.

Depending on how you approach the whole situation, I can understand how it could be seen as transphobic, especially if all the facts you read first are presented to you from a point of view that's convinced the events are transphobic.
But the whole drama is still stupid af. The only thing that VA is achieving is making sure other trans women are not hired to voice any characters since dbd could've avoided the whole controversy by just hiring a cis woman instead.
The character is an amorphous monster trying to pretend it's human by twisting it's body and wearing human clothes. It's an ugly monster that wasn't designed to have any sort of social commentary like that, it could just as easily be used to "make fun" of any other group of people. If you see that character wearing a dress and you go "Yeah, that's me. They're talking about me!", then you are the problem, not the design.

This whole mess is the fault of the developers. They could've just hired an ordinary man or woman to do the voice acting, but of course they hired someone from the community that's notorious for causing unnecessary drama.
