Great tip! I've never thought about using vinegar. I normally use brushes or break the head off a tongue blade to give me a rough surface to scrape off the stuff. I also find that once the terminals have their plating gone, from corrosion, they tend to corrode soon after again. I add a bit of petroleum jelly to help fight off corrosion. Higher amp stuff will get silicone grease.
Looking forward to the next tips!

So what brand AA batteries do you recommend that leak less?

Energizer lithium or rechargeable for anything expensive.

If you have the budget wouldn't you just use contact cleaner.
I suppose if you are at home and have run out then vinegar.

Contact cleaner doesn't work as well and it doesn't neutralize the reaction
