I love that it includes the perspectives, feelings and words of domestics, nationals, expats and doesn’t just seem to be about the one woman, her perspective only, in a bubble, fighting against “others”. Just speculation. This trailer doesn’t give away much (about time, really).
I think Nicole Kidman's plot is more like, her kid died, and leaving Hong Kong for her means leaving the memories behind, and it's a difficult decision for her because she's already a foreigner whose spent years trying to fit in. The series looks incredible, I'm really excited to watch it for all the characters, and I love that both on Prime and IMDb they're not giving away anything about the series. Although I sense there's something 21 Grams-esque about it.
I know this is on Prime but as someone who can't afford a subscription is there any other way this series will be released? Like will it be in a cinema at a future date?
She meant that, at her age, even the most drastic changes would be just moving course, experimenting and, eventually, starting something and not "having a fresh start". That the girl was too young to have all that much to leave behind and start anew. And that, at her age, starting something has nothing on the costs of turning your back on everything later in life, once you have built your whole persona, dreams and sense of value around the stuff you would be leaving behind forever.

@@GladysKravitz42 Are you serious? She has done more to her face than any famous actress I can think of- and keeps on having surgery. It keeps changing and tightening but she doesn't look young here. In her case, it's really obvious and one can track the new faces she's acquired.

They are examples of fighting tooth and nail against getting old and not accepting getting old. They have so much cosmetic surgery they become distorted looking and unrecognizable. It's not subtle. Nicole Kidman is a fine actress, I like her. She is still attractive even, but her face has changed because she has overdone the cosmetic surgery. It is not natural aging.
Oh yeah, expat wifeys in HK. I know this group. Most of them are pretty, married bankers but dislike the implications of living in a banker’s family. 7 out of 10 were gold diggers. 1 out of 10 has the proper values. Watch the movie. But I’m telling you, this group don’t deserve sympathy

If you watched that well done and comprehensive trailer and found it confusing and have determined that it "looks boring as hell" then I suggest you find a movie in which things blow up in every scene.

Finished 3 eps so far and it’s the best show I’ve watched this year so far!
In the beginning They played music by the Danish Agnes Obel, you hear the strings of the chello
I immediately recognized "The Curse" by Agnes Obel and friends. A soundtrack with that could make any scene profound.
The book was great, can't wait to watch the movie! I'm surprised though, they made a movie instead of a series...
