Jelena Djokovic, wife of tennis star Novak, has jokingly warned Jannik Sinner that she "will not give in" following the Italian's recruitment of two former members of her husband's team.
This comes in the wake of Sinner's doping scandal, which saw him hire Marco Panichi, Djokovic's ex-fitness coach, and physiotherapist Ulises Badio. Both had previously worked with Djokovic, with Panichi leaving his camp in May and Badio departing in 2022 after a five-year stint.
Despite these changes, Jelena made it clear on social media that she has no intention of joining Sinner's team, responding to an Instagram post announcing the new hires with a playful comment: "I will not give in!!!"
Her jest was accompanied by several laughing emojis, underlining her commitment to her husband amid the shifting allegiances.
Djokovic recently revealed that he and Jelena have disagreements over their decision to ban mobile phones for their two children, Stefan and Tara. The kids were present in the stands as Novak began his Davis Cup campaign with a swift 45-minute victory over Ioannis Xilas.
Following the match, Novak shared insights into their parenting approach. "My children still don't have a cell phone, my wife and I argue (about it)," Djokovic said. "The kids complain, 'At school everyone has one except us'.
"It's not easy and this is reflected on other levels as well. If everyone does something, the herd behaves like this, you have to follow them. Well, it doesn't have to be like that. This is where I think we differ from others, because we are stubborn and active."
Despite their differing views on whether their nine and seven year old should use mobile phones, the couple's marriage remains solid. Jelena is often spotted in her husband's box during his tennis matches, cheering him on, sometimes more enthusiastically than some of his coaches. However, she won't be rejoining former allies and teaming up with them again for Sinner.
