It’s interesting that at around 14:50 you say that they “feel a lot lighter, especially at speed.” A heavier wheel should actually feel lighter at speed since it acts as a flywheel and has more kinetic energy to keep the wheel spinning using less energy input to maintain that speed. A lighter wheel should feel lighter in the acceleration, since there is less mass to move.
Ordered a yeti sb130 with these wheels… not sure if it’s a good bike for Ohio though. I’m used to hard tail / 100mm travel xc bikes. Enjoyed the review thanks for the helpful info!
Hmm do they come with hydra hubs? I wanted to order the 25 reserve wheels but the Santa cruz website said that they come with dt350, i9 torch, or king iso hubs.
@@loamtroopers just sent that on Instagram. Thanks again. If you can get some detailed pics I can't get it right for the life of me. Thanks for taking the time.
Hell yeah... Tahoe rider here too. CC is a great trail
Hydras ordered and counting down the days!! Just came across your channel and you put out some quality stuff! That trail looks 🔥🔥
Nice dude! You’ll love them. Thanks for the feedback 🤘🤘
That Hydra sounds amazing!
Oh man I know! It makes hoping on the bike always a little bit better 👌
just ordered these with dt swiss for my carbon Tallboy, looking forward to them. Great Video, what a nice trail too!
Thank you!
Ah man I’m jealous! That’ll be a awesome ride!
how did the upgrade go? thinking about these on my tallboy. curious
I always recycle my sealant. That stuff is GOLD! (orange seal FTW)
100%!
I would love to see a van workshop tour! Also I plan to get the same wheel setup you have! Any maxxis tire recommendations?
You won’t regret it brotha. They are the best!
Hmm, probably the Maxxis Assegai. Best all around Maxxis tire in my opinion.
Dude sweet! Loving mine for sure, a bit jelly over the hubs tho!
I’m super stoked on the hubs! Bit pricey but a good upgrade!
I just ordered mind😁, so stoked!
Nice vid man. Mannies were sick! Swarm of bees are vicious. How much weight do you think you saved? Love that bike!
Thanks man! I would say about a pound. It may be a little less, but it feels like more at speed for sure.
@@loamtroopers
A pound? U sure? That’s a hell lot! What where u on before?
Planing on saving some weight on my wheels myself…:)

Wish you would’ve given us a weight on each wheel with all the components on (rotor cassette tire with sealant)

Awsome video and wheels. Just got my carbon upgrade wheels. What location/trail is cold creek? Thanks
Thanks! Cold Creek is in the S. Lake Tahoe area. It can be found on trail forks
Looks like I'll be putting a reserve rim on when my rear alloy rim gives up in a couple months

Nice video BTW 😍
Thanks man! Mine did come with Hyrdas. I would reach out to Santa Cruz to order, and they could definitely lace up Hydras for ya!
if you dont mind me asking, how much does that set up cost?
Not at all. This set retails for $1900 from Santa Cruz.
Is there anyway you can send me pics of how they are laced? I'm building mine now but not sure if they are 3 across or not. Thanks.
Yeah dude! Send me a DM on instagram and I’ll get you a couple shots. Pretty sure they’re 3x though.

The trail is wonderful! 🔥🌈
dt swiss hubs are the only hubs that matter, one hub all bikes
are you running cush core?
Not currently. I should though.
What hubs are you using?
Industry Nine Hyrda Hubs 👍
@@loamtroopers Thanks! I just bought the megatower with the reserve wheels. I can't wait to ride it. It ships tomorrow!
any thoughts about putting in cushcore
Definitely will be this spring. I had them on my last set of Reserves. They are a phenomenal asset for running lower tire pressures.
Bro I am building these wheels and wondering are they 2 or 3 cross laces? Thank you.
3 cross 🤘
@@loamtroopers yeah apparently a few people at santa cruz doesn't know. I asked they said 2 cross. So it should be under under over correct
horrible hub sound
Agree, this sound would drive my crazy
Its definitely not for everybody
This is everything thats wrong with mtb these days.... Money, branding, branding, branding...
