Here too, always nice to see a new episode popping up!
The WWL-1 airbubble problem is reduced since the bayonet mount came in. I wouldn't be too woried. If needded at all, a good swing will do.

I use manual focus cine lens. 9mm Laowa is my got to(for APS). I will prefocus on the ladder or outboard at about 5 feet. I also use focus peaking(red) for accurate focus. This works for most of the Pelagic work. I shoot at about f8. I am not overly concerned about sept corners in open water. One of the main problems in Isla is the hoards of snorkelers swarming the Whale Sharks . Try to get an operator that goes early or comes back late.

Do you still both use the viewfinders whilst snorkeling?

I've not done a big pelagic trip since switching to mirrorless, so I am not sure. But my 2012 whaleshark silhouette shot, taken on M43 was shot using the back screen not the EVF (although EVFs were dire in those days).

I’ve just been using the LCD for big animals. I can see instances where the 45 VFs would be useful but the lcd has worked perfectly fine most of the time

I work as a whale shark guide at isla Mujares. Yes lots of rules have changed to limit exposure to the whale sharks. No free diving, limited jumps in, wetsuit /lifejacket mandatory. I use either a gopro 9 /12 or canon 5d iv in aquatica housing with 8" dome port. using freediving fins helps a lot to move through the water. I use the lcd mainly when shooting.

Hi there! I´ve been diving with whale sharks in Thailand for the past decade and after watching this episode it looks like the code of conduct when in the water with them is a quite different from the one in Isla Mujeres. Behavior such actively staying out of their swimming direction and not getting any closer than 3 meters seem to be overlooked in IM. I wonder if that is the case and if so, how does that affect the WS occurrence and their reaction to close encounters with humans. Thank you!

@@luisarpa8612 There are actually lots of rules at IM. You must be 6ft away from shark minimum. You are not supposed to be directly in front and impeding their direction of travel. 2 people in the water with guide. lifejackets are mandatory unless you wear a wetsuit. No freediving allowed. Regulations allow for 2 jumps in with the sharks to limit the exposure. No drones allowed. Absolutely no touching the sharks is allowed. This year the govt officials were not out much in the whale shark area as in the past. I have seen many times where the rules are not followed, such as freediving , 5 people jumping off boat, reckless captains. The whale shark industry is a tight knit group on Isla Mujares but there are tour operators who exploit the sharks in a bad way.

I’m going on a sardine run trip at Magdalena Bay this fall. Any advice? I’ll use a Canon 5D M4 in a Nauticam housing. Shall I leave my 45 view finder off? How about using a wrist band to secure the housing to me? Thx

I took my viewfinder off. You need to be looking with your eyes everywhere to take it all in. Use the lcd screen on 5div. less weight too with the viewfinder off. I have a lanyard attached to the camera and my wrist so that its not gonna dissappear on me.
