My favorite is Eau Rose EDP from Diptyque
So many of us have declared ourselves avoidant of rose in perfume.
Unfortunately, this scent falls victim to association. Which can ruin a thing.
For me it was dry, dusty, dated porporri, cheap French-inspired hand soap in grandma’s bathroom we weren’t allowed to use, and even toilet paper. This was the 1980’s.
So as I still struggle not to declare myself a person who doesn’t like rose perfumes, I have a growing collection of perfumes that would belie that declaration.
I think more people would love it if their association was changed with the right fragrance.

First, Brompton Immortals…absolutely amazing!!! It is one fragrance that checks off all the boxes for me and it may be considered formal but I will wear it anytime because it is just to gorgeous not to. Atomic Rose, another fantastic fragrance. I’m not big into rose scents but changed my mind once I tried Atomic Rose and didn’t take long for it to be added to my collection.

Over the last year Rose has become a favourite note and one I can wear comfortably now. My favs include Scherzo❤️, Rose Berberanza, Calligraphy Rose, Rose Prick, Nawabh of Oud, Grace (Commes des Garçons), Rose Musc (Narciso in gold bottle), Atomic Rose and either Rose D’Sparta or Burning Rose (both delicious Turkish delight roses with light amber and lemon touches). Really keen to try Brompton Immortals, Rose Silence and Damask (will be seeking samples)

I much prefer Oud Silk Mood over Satin Mood also. Satin is beautiful but cloying. Silk to me is cleaner… Also, would love to see a video featuring the note of Violet. I’m loving Violet cantered fragrances lately 💜 thx Josephine!

Totally agree about Rose Silence from Miller Harris, it’s become my easy reach and really addictive. It’s also divine layered with BK 540. I like Jo Malone velvet rose and oud for a bit more elevated rose. My fav at the moment is MFK Oud Satin Mood which I love spraying before I go to bed. Atomic Rose is on my shopping list as I adore the smell of it. Scherzo I’ve just got which I find can do a vanishing act on me one minute I smell it the next I don’t.

J'ai également eu un petit coup de coeur pour le lady vengeance de Juliette has a gun. Il a un petit côté enchanteresse que j'aime beaucoup.
I remember first trying Hibiscus Mahajad and it lasted north of a week on my jacket. Some scents not featured that I enjoy: Xerjoff's Ouverture (green fruity rose), Xerjoff's Via Cavour I (rose with dark chocolate and berries, HIDDEN GEM!), Amouage's Crimson Rocks (rose-honey-cinnamon), and Atelier des Ors' Rose Omeyyade (I like the Extrait version more, but both are predominantly rose & raspberry).
My favorite fresh everyday rose is Aerin Rose de Grasse. It is absolutely the most stunning modern rose I’ve tried thus far. There’s something about the combination of rose + watery notes + ambrette that’s fresh and casual but sexy, and I adore it. I’ll be devastated when my sample is gone. The longevity isn’t great so I’m waiting for a sale at one of the department stores that carries it. It isn’t one I’d pay full price for.
One of my favorite fruity playful roses is a cheapie - Coach Wild Rose. Some compare it to BR540 or Burberry Her but I don’t think they have anything in common. It’s a bright and uplifting rose with red currant and bergamot.

I love rose as a supporting note more than it taking center stage seems like. My favs are Ambre Nuit, Moonlight Patchouli, Hibiscus Mahajad and Rose Incense (Amouage). The only Rose Fragrance centered around it as main note which I really enjoy is eau rose edp by diptyque

Memo’s African Rose & Le Labo Rose 31 need to be on this list - way better performance than many on this list & much more masculine friendly.
So I bought 10ml Atomic Rose and it's fabulous honestly for somebody that dislikes rose fragrance but wanted to expand from nichhe gourmand, I love it. So much so that I have also gone and purchased PDM Delina Exclusif too as I feel it may be more easier to wear in the day than Atomic Rose. Thanks so much for the review ❤

I purchased a bottle of Brompton Immortals from Harrods 2 months ago and I’m still on the fence on this one. This is one of those fragrances I have a hard time figuring out what I’m exactly smelling. I really can’t discern the rose, and my suspicion is that it is superbly blended or the combination of notes have created their own sui generis accord. What I like here is that nothing dominates. I would suggest that Brompton Immortals has a similar dna to ExNihilo’s Gold Immortals. One thing I’ve learned about fragrances is that one needs to “live with it” for awhile before coming to definite conclusions. There are many scents that I initially disliked or was indifferent to and yet months later I ended up loving (and conversely). Interestingly many have suggested this leans masculine, but I think it leans feminine.
Pls do one video on ormande jayne fragrances you like. I hear a lot of pikafragrances too, especially about taif or something

Great video idea! I like the idea of highlighting certain ingredients. I’m not personally a rose fan. Not sure why I find it off putting. I do like Delina La Rosee though as it’s not dominant.

The most rose forward perfume in my collection is Arabians Tonka by Montale. For me it feels thick and a bit creamy and sweet but not in a gourmand level. Really love it especially this cold season and it lasts a long time in my skin and weeks in my coats.
I find it very similar to Brompton Immortals. Love it!

I love Longo Maï from Maison Isnard, you’ve talked about it a long time ago. It’s really niche but the fragrance is made with rose Centifolia extract, in Grasse. This perfume is stunning! It’s fresh but also long lasting 😍
Il also love and have Delina, Delina La Rosée, Atomic rose, Hibiscus Mahadjad, Oud satin mood extract (I like the violet in it)… I’m also a huge fan of rose! I also would have had Paris by YSL, which will celebrate his 40 years in 2023 🎉
Montale Black Oud, Voleur de Rose, Creed The Rose Bulgarie, Ta’if Ormonde Jane, Serge Lutens Mageste, Perris Rose de Mai, Chingiale Rose Bulgarie, Tauer Rose Chypre, Guerlain Chamade, Vintage YSL Paris, Frederic Malle Une Rose, I actually have a lot of Roses in my collection and a lot of fragrances from Rosine as well. 🌹
I don’t see Brompton Immortals as a representation of the rose category though I know it has the note. My thoughts go to:
A La Rose by MFK, Chloe Roses, Chanel Chance Eau De Tendre Le Parfum, Jo Malone Red Roses or Rose Blush, Malle’s Portrait of a Lady, Armani Prive has several. My favorites switch with mood. Mysterious rose mood is saved for Rose31 & African Rose & POAL.
For me, personally, Atomic Rose is the absolute best rose fragrance in the market. No argument will be entertained! And I usually layer it with Initio's Oud for Greatness for a magical experience. Followed next by BDK Tabac Rose, Delina La Rosee, then Scherzo, which took me some time to warm up to for some reason. I think I had a few bad samples bc they didn't do anything at all on my skin. I bought a bottle anyway, based on your rave reviews and it's a LOVE now. However, I've been vacilating back and forth on Memo's African Rose for a while. I can't bring myself to buy a FB as it's so pricey. I'll definitely pick it up this year if I catch it on a good sale.
Damask is the best everyday watery rose fragrance. The dry down is beautiful.

I have a few different roses from Ormonde Jayne, my favorite house
I usually love the light/ airy type of rose perfume, rose and oud is not what I usually enjoy the most, with some exceptions. From my collection with prominent rose, Miller Harris Rose Silence, D&S Durga Rose Atlantic and Dusita La Doceur de Siam are light, and airy but still very unique. Then there is Odeur Du Théâtre Du Châtelet Acte I Comme des Garcons which I love in a nostalgic way. I don't know what is is but I love it and is not a perfume I heard anyone talking about.
My favorite fragrance is "the rose." LOVE "Pink Pick Me Up!" in which I received for X-Mas. Love Delina La Rosee, and Dior Rose Water perfume, it's so special!
I love a watery rose but can appreciate a more full rose once in a while
I'm a 35 years old man, wore Oud Satin Mood last saturday, I agree 100% except for the longevity, it actually lasts days 😂
And yeah, you have to be VERY confident to wear it as a man, otherwise someone will tell you that you smell feminine (but I absolutely disagree and don't really care 😅), but the scent profile is truly unique in a sea where the drops are made of Sauvage, Invictus and 1 Million.
P.S. Congrats for the Dior stuff, you deserved! It was like seeing a friend making it to the big leagues. 🤩
As a man, my only rose based parfume is lyric man from amouage. It's fresh with lime and a soapy edge.

Molton brown absolute rose I love layering with oud or leather I love a good rose fragrance most men just think its a woman's scent but a beautiful deep rose done right especially in formal wear will make you stand out in any room and have you feeling a million $$🌹
MFK - have tham both ☺️ oud silk mood is more masculine to me, but oud satin mood is great.
We wear it both, with my husband during winter. It goes much sweeter on me, and projects more dark, smoky vibe on my man 😉
My favourite rose perfume is RoseRose spendida by Bvlgari ❤ Dry, very elegant, crisp, very natural, pink rose scent with a hint of musk. Amazing! So difficult to get nowadays, but absolutely worth it 👍

And huge fan of rose scent, i wear Rose de mai from Perris Monte Carlo, very realistic greeny rose, like the scent of a market flower early in the morning. Rose de Taif also from Perris, also very realistic and simple but warmer, a sunny hot true rose, more oriental. YSL ROUGE VELOURS from Le Vestiaire Colection ist my favorite rose fragrance. Sexy rose-patchouli fragrance with depth for the self-confident woman. I would like to try Miss Dior Essence, I would definitely love this perfume❤

Needless to say, I discovered the brand thanks to your buying guide and now I'm obsessed! :) Also, I'm curious - have you tried Á la rose from MFK? I find it very fresh, almost photorealistic take on rose water. I wonder how it compares to Miss Dior Rose Essence (which I haven't tried yet).

Ah yes French leather is a fabulous rose leather. So chic. I have tried a la rose. Very different to miss Dior rose essence. A la rose is very very musky and has a fruity green apple like note which miss Dior rose essence doesn’t have
I'm not very fond of rose accord but I love some fragrances with rose. Portrait of a Lady by FM, Blouse by YSL, Ombrè Nomade by LV, Velvet Rose & Oud by Jo Malone, Floraboranica by Balenciaga, and Scherzo. Sadly, Scherzo doesn't last long on my skin, I would say maximum 5 hrs with mild projection.
Louis vuitton les sables roses, fleur du desert, and arabian oud resala are some amazing roses fragrances you should try and cant go wrong with these.

Are any of the ones you mentioned compared or similar to Portrait of a Lady? I blind bought that one myself and even though I do like it I find it overwhelming. I would like to find something kind of similar but different at the same time. I hope I make sense. I like intense rose fragrance but sexy at the same time. I have Delina La Rosee and I love it but I use it more in the day time. I live in Los Angeles California where it’s sunny most of the time. Portrait of a lady is more an evening fall/winter fragrance in my opinion and since is almost spring I would like to see if you can recommend one for me to wear spring/summer evenings.

for me it is "sa majesté la rose" de Serge Lutens
Je crois que mon préféré reste Portrait of A Lady de Frédéric Malle pour son odeur de vamp et hyper sexy à apporter. Paradoxalement j'aime énormément le Delina classique pour sa douceur et l'image d'enfant sage qu'il me renvoie. J'ai aussi un échantillon du Tabac Rose de BDK qui est vraiment pas mal. Voilà pour ma participation :)
