@@squidfix in the beast manga, it was mentioned that aku and gin were chased by traffickers while in the slums, so a theory started circulating that, since aku in the original manga’s life was ultimately worse than in beast, it was likely he had not only been pursued but taken by the traffickers. they also theorized that this was why aku hates taking off his coat/being touched. hope that helps!!
