  • Just my experience of removing the door panels on my 2009 Mazda MX-5 Mk3 (NC) 3.5. Then removing door speakers in readiness for new replacements and also replacing the quarterlight window pillars. Hope you find it useful.
ADDITIONAL NOTE: something I discovered later, that you need to be aware of. When sliding in the long black quarterlights channel down into the door, make sure that the cables going to the electric door mirrors are NOT on the side of the window channel - otherwise its gets in the way and stops you window from going down!

Hope this proves useful to you - my very first how-to video so please forgive any shaky bits or odd spots where the camera wasn't quite on the area being discussed - certainly there are things I would do differently next time to improve filming, but you have to start somewhere eh?

Useful Neil & something that needs doing on mine. A couple of points, don't pan the camera too quick, it gives you a headache & watch your minimum focus length. How much were the new quarterlight strips?

Thanks for the comments Jim - this was my first explainer video, so very much an amateur attempt and much to learn. With this and my second one, I've learned that my large LED floor light can cause headache inducing strobing, that it would be better to setup my tripod for some things and that in some instances, a second person would be handy.
The items you ask about can be bought from MX5Parts for around £38 each - or direct from Mazda dealer for similar cost. I actually got mine and bit cheaper via a guy I know who is in the trade and whose company specialise in Ford and Mazda parts. ;-)

The tape is pre-fitted on new ones bought from Mazda. I have my old ones which I am going to refurbish sometime and will simply use a piece of gloss or satin black vinyl like that used for vehicle signage and wraps.
