The punch was pretty cool!! “And Justice for All” was my first Metallica albums and Harvester of Sorrow” will be one of my standout all-time favorite songs ever!! The first time I heard it on cassette tape I was blown away! I remember thinking F*** Guns n Roses after hearing this song! Well this song and “Blackened”
And Justice for All was my introduction to Metallica and Jason Newsted is an absolute beast on the bass and one of the most passionate metallica members when it comes to performing live. I only learned about cliff burton afterwards when I checked out their back catalog so Jason has always been my favourite bassist and he doesn't get as much love as he deserves.
Fun fact. Lars was banging away so hard during this show he cut his finger open. Google "Lars Ulrich bloody snare" and you can see a pic of the drum head afterwards. Say what you want about his drumming, but that's pretty damn metal!
It was so cool to see the Russian Army guys getting into the music and celebrating with the rest of the crowd after seeing them getting violent with the batons. They must have figured it out or something. This concert was just a frickin beastly performance by the GOATS OF THRASH METAL.🔥🔥🔥🔥
It’s called 1.6 Million ppl. But we ALL KNOW IT IS PROBABLY CLOSER TO 2 million, the ENERGY THE TUNING OF JASONS BASS…. While shorter than Seattle; this is by far the epitome of METAL 😊🎉❤…….. if. God said i wanna THRASH; the TALLICA BOYS SAID “ we got cha LORD” & this was IT
russian soldiers guarded 1,6 million people and didn't know was Heavy Metal is. They couldn't handle the aggressive tone of music, so they freaked out.
The Soviet Union was still in the process of communism phasing out in 1991. So it was still pretty much a police state in some ways. This was the first time that there had been a rock concert from a western nation, so the military guys saw the release of energy as some sort of aggression. Brutality was the norm for that nation up to that time, it was pretty bad. The military guy was beating a camera with the billy stick because, for whatever reason, they didn't want it to be photographed. I'm around the same age as the guys in Metallica, so I clearly remember this.
You must understand that Metallica played at a time when the situation with Russia was super critical in the cold war, the United States was practically a latent threat, and that a band from there comes to revolutionize the public in Russia, it was something terrifying for the military who They tried to impose order through violence... Greetings From Chile You are so cool dudes❤️❤️
photocamera's... he was smashing a throwaway camera.. back in the day, you could buy these cameras for a few bucks at any pharmacy, drugstore, gas station.. if the film was full, you had to take it to a place where they could develop photographs, and they tossed the camera for you.. This concert is not long after the iron curtain fell, and the process of dissolving the USSR wasn't completed yet. (it took a whole year, 1991) So the officers where confused af and did not know what to do with this wild crowd.
The count stopped at 1.6 million I believe it’s closer to 2. And the milatry didn’t know what to do…., finally they stopped after 55 deaths, this is the day communism died for RUSSIA. Supposedly. ❤😮❤❤😮😮😮😮
Very good guys..old son and old live show video, not recent video!!!the Metallica, now in live, yes greath show, but shit and sucks song, plays only attendance..ago break the ass e very single song, now e very single song it’s”rock”and play the peaple..
@@vincentcortilli4896 I was being sarcastic. Not exactly rocket science to see what happened.. It was a pivotal moment in Russia and Eastern Europe for sure, part of why this concert is so iconic
Cymbal punching James is my favorite James

I'm pretty sure James could have parted the crowd like Moses if he wanted too. Lol. What a great song 🤟

You can also look at it like this , communism had to die METALLICA SAID HOLD OUR BEERS 🍻
A show with soldiers beating audience members is almost Metalocalypse in reality. Brutal. \m/
They are not officers they are marines
