*So* much is missing in the video, it's unfortunate. But maybe--at the very least--it will get people thinking about actually studying editing (in general).
Every part of filmmaking is key to effective storytelling. Editing is crucial, but so is everything else: music (especially this!), sound, costuming, props, camera lenses, dramatic structure, multiple shots or takes, B-roll, non-contiguous edits, runtime limitations, etc. I wish any of these were addressed, but... nope! 🤔 It is what it is, though.
This is great! I've been struggling with my editing workflow, especially on longform content. I like everything he said. Audio is absolutely more important to get right. Just watch any indie movie. Good audio with meh video is fine. Good video with meh audio is painful. The worst parts of Birdemic and The Room are audio related. I need to find more from his guy!
Lucas has a great way of explaining his editing process. And his work is top notch! Great to see you enjoy this one. Here is everything we have published with Lucas - tinyurl.com/yzjshvy9 Also he has some great videos up on the Film Riot channel that are also worth checking out.
Style in the way; I see this in the small channels I watch who interject sudden clips of movies to create humor. That was funny the first few times.....years ago.
Great tips and insight, I can tell based on this interview, he knows what he is talking about. Did he not edit a shortfilm for film Riot, or multible of them? :-D
Which of these tips was helpful for you to hear?

@@Novastar.SaberCombat What would you have added to his comments? Genuinely interested

Indeed! Yes, we believe he has worked with Ryan at least twice.
