    1. treat school as something you can master (start with the belief that you can hack the system) 0:47
    2. have your free time set systematically (dedicate time to review and do your work) 2:57
    3. repetition beats long duration (you can spend 5-10 minutes every day reviewing things and remember it better) 4:22
    4. baby steps (don’t burn yourself out, build yourself up to it/ build the habit of working) 5:54
~ it’s all about preparation ~ take a bit of your free time to review and study (it doesn’t have to be a lot)

From a straight A student I can say a few things that help me with schoolwork. I have a naturally good memory so I don't study much, but these things help me from getting overwhelmed
1: Focus in class, when you talk mid-class or have and focus on any distractions, then look back up to the lecture, there's a moment where you are a bit flustered trying to figure out what the instructor is saying, where they are, and what to write.
2: Be organized, If you have papers lain about or crammed in your bag, then 1), it will take longer to get your documents out causing you maybe miss or get slightly behind the class, even for a moment, and 2), it helps with your confidence, knowing where your documents are takes stress off since you know exactly where it is.
3: Be respectful and friendly to your instructors, I know that teachers suck sometimes and there's nothing you can do, but try and be friendly, and say hello when you walk in, and goodbye when you walk out. Ask them how their weekend was or how they're feeling. With a big workload teachers too can feel overwhelmed, and it helps mentally to get through the day when a student is conversing with them, and gives them someone to look forward to.
4: Structure your Emails, be professional. Have a template that you use for every Email and stick with it. Makes you seem more dignified and mature, opposed to just asking or telling about whatever your Email is about. For me, I use the template:
    Hello,
    ~body paragraph~
Have a good day and thank you for your time
    ~first name~
I'm only going into 9th grade this year, but I hope these tips can help someone out there :)

I've been doing these things for years now and it has worked every single year. The most important points for me, however, are surrounding yourself with smart kids that enjoy school and managing your time. I love how by following these simple things I get time to go skate outside, play a video game or watch an anime without having to worry about missing assignments or uncompleted projects. Look forward to more great videos :)

Thank you so much. I was a "directors list student" which is like all 95 and higher grades when I was in 6th and seventh grade. Now I am in 8th grade and I hang out with people that have worse grades than me and I have been getting all B's and I can't keep up with my work. The two main factors that changed my grades were: where I do my homework and who I hang out with. I did my homework on a desk but now I am doing it partially on my bed and just slouching. Staying in a power pose( sitting straight and/confidently sitting😂) helps a lot with concentration. Also mute other stuff on ur phone. I got an app to disable other apps when I am working on hw. Also do not procrastinate. It is dreadful when u do. Just do all ur hw and study. I studied for a cells test in science and got the highest grade in my class and then after a semester of bad habits, I didn't study and I got like a 67 and got so sad lol. Anyway Ty for the video it helped a lot!!

    1. Start asking questions to the teachers or try to build up your questions on a sticky note or a notebook or something you can write with and write them down and maybe after class ask the teacher or if your afraid email them. These things helped educate me of not asking my friends for the answer because most of the time they don't know, so just by asking a small little answer or something your confused on can go a long way.
    2. Write down all the little details the teacher says even though it might not be a fun thing to take up energy of using your hand or whatever trust me it will help so much on your brain to understand. I once had a teacher who made us write down little things over and over and you know what happened I remembered these things and I was able to ace that test. REMEMBER teachers are there to help you not just teach you.
    3. Knowing when things are due/ being more organized try to write sticky notes so for example "okay today is Monday and the test is due Friday I'm gonna try to take sections of things that will be on the test and try to get as much in as possible before Friday" or trying to be more productive and try to do at least 30 mins of studying before volleyball practice just knowing the time of things you have and section it in your time.

I do pretty good in school and all, most people in my class call me the "chill" smart kid because I do well, but also relax. The thing is, that I've been noticing that it's getting harder to handle my workload and to handle my time well, so I think this video will really help in getting me back on track.

I performed really well in only one semester, like never below an A- (GPA was at 3.88) compared to other semesters where I would get around 3.4. I actually started College below a 3.0 GPA and fought my way to a 3.3 overall GPA. I do agree that the people around you can influence your success. I used to live in a dorm, but I was around average people. However, when I "accidentally" transitioned to living outside my dorm, which is living at home with my parents, my grades went up. Anyways, I will look to surround myself with people who are successful and know what they are doing, because I can learn from them as I am headed to a Chiropractic College in late June this year.

    BID

I'm an A student, but it seems to be very common in my school. I will be attending High-School this year, and I will likely attend a very rigorous school. I'm anxious, and still seek improvement despite the slight "nerd" or "overachiever" trope I am given. I have been slightly slacking lately, and being given that high standard, it feels embarrassing knowing that I didn't fulfill it although I worked hard. I will try better and harder...

I have a tip for school that works even in the pandemic. Try to find one class you think you can like and do good in, and then put your energy into that. Sometimes we don't like any classes or only 1 class, but you can learn to like it. If you put your effort into one class and get good at it and like it, that will help you do good in other classes. So just focus on one class to improve your work habits and excitement for school and then the rest will come along.

This is true, last year I didn’t study at all. All I cared about was just passing. I was fine with a 70. I failed some easy classes for example art because I was too lazy to do work, and because of covid and all. Although I don’t have all A’s because it just doesn’t happen over night. I am doing a lot better. With my lowest 2 grades being equal 86. I am doing well in all. 93 in art, 88 in chemistry, 100 in team sports, 95 in Spanish and even recommended in in honors class for world history with a 96! Thanks for the advice.

I just feel like I have no motivation to do school work and study. I know it’s important and I want good grades but I’m so tired of seeing C’s and trying and failing and COVID that I have 0 motivation to do work

I am generally kinda smart, I know my stuff but the school grades us by how developed your text is. Because of that, I usually get C's.

My tip to the community is to try to find interest in what you're learning; see it as an exploration (even if you wouldn't usually enjoy the topic). And, of course, repetition as well as putting the theory into practice. Good luck everyone!

I use a tape recorder to study and memorize. But then my grades are good but then sometimes not. Do you have any suggestions?
