  • Full title reads: "Portsmouth. End of 'Palmerston's Folly'. The Royal Engineers built them in 1871 and men of the same regiment, now destroy them to clear ground for Portsmouth's Municipal Aerodrome."
    Portsmouth, Hampshire.

    An officer and soldier prepare the plunger to set off explosives.
    A concrete bunker explodes. The explosion sends smoke and dust up into the air.
