Good deal. A long trip like that to your and see the route rather than just to get somewhere is a great thing.
Back in 2007 I took a 1974 Honda CB750 motorcycle, which I had only owned for a couple weeks, on a trip around the country. I started in Michigan and went up and across US 2 to Idaho to get my CDL for a trucking company. Everyone else had opted to have the company pay their way over and rode the bus. No thanks.
After the course was done, since I was only a state away, I kept going west until I hit the Pacific ocean. I didn't pay any attention to what roads I was on or where I was, I just checked the sun every now and then to ensure I was going in a generally west direction. When it got dark and I was tired, I found a suitable place to pull off and pop a tent for the night.
Went down till I hit Death Valley and right through the middle of it. All down through to Texas where a huge rainstorm forced me off the road and onto a ditch full of water. I wasn't hurt but the trip was over. The engine sucked in water and was ruined.
It was an amazing ride, for the life of me I couldn't tell you where I was or anything most of the time. I just picked a direction and went, getting gas when I could, heh.
    Nothing like it.
