    Oof. You are brave. I've never been good in the cold unless there's a hot spring to jump into after the cold plunge. I'm a Leo born in the summer after all ;)

    This is unbelievable, I have dived in a wetsuit and a dry suit if I could ask a question how did you condition your body to cope with the cold, I never got more tolerant to the cold, even after 25 years of sub aqua diving. I have swimed in the lochs in Scotland in summer, that is cold enough for me, when you put your head under the water the pain on your forehead is not nice.

    Wow. This is very impressive! What is the water temperature under the ice?

    • @androopr
      @androopr  2 роки тому +2

      Thank you! This temperature is just above freezing, 0.5C

    Where do people go to freedive in these conditions?

  • @95norbika

    I really like to swim, to swim underwater, and in last november i begun to prepare for ice swimming cold showers..last winter i showered with just 10.5C water on regular..and it felt good! But summer, with that heat-wave the coldest tap water was 24C! So i lost from my cold resistance a lot, also because of the warm i slept badly...so when the colder weather arrived, i got a flu in september, and it seems that hardly passes 100%..so i must be patient, it is really amazing that how hard was at the beginning with the cold showers,with time im addicted to it!
    the most serious challenge to me is to make my toes and hands accustomed to the cold..even a water of around 15C and colder is really painful in these body parts,but just in these parts..I think my circulation is not as good as it should in these two body parts. It is normal at the beginning?Im just 23y old

    • @androopr
      @androopr  2 роки тому

      That is normal to feel ! Every winter we have to get used to the cold again, mentally each year is a lot easier but physically we lose most of our cold tolerance over the summer.
      It's also normal for the toes (and fingers) to feel extremely cold first because they are the smallest blood viens furthest from the heart which get constricted quickly from the intense cold !

    Your best time static breath hold underwater?

  • @thomasdahl3083
    @thomasdahl3083 2 роки тому +2

    How did you train your body to withstand the extremely low water temperatures? Any advice? Or is it simply a mental challenge to disconnect from feeling the temperature as cold and consider it as a pain instead? Even if it's just a one minute dive and you do have a backup diver ready to help you in case you would faint or so. I understand the pain in your fingers and toes but the rest of the body?

    • @androopr
      @androopr  2 роки тому +1

      The simple answer is the same as training for any other sport - takes repetition, slow progression, and over time will have both physical and mental adaptation which make it easier and easier and more comfortable/enjoyable. We always have trained safety divers on hand and ready to act accordingly.
      Pain is a relative word based on tolerancr - fingers and toes have very little insulation from the cold and circulation will also reduce to focus on your core temperature so they get effected by the cold much quicker and deeper

    I hop next time without mask under ice .

    • @androopr
      @androopr  3 роки тому +1

      It's possible but not worth it to us - adds risks that would need more setup a d planning to mitigate - and without a mask we can't enjoy the beautiful view.
