Great review, man! I have a 2018 Dodge Challenger R/T Plus and I absolutely LOVE IT. It is plenty of fast for me and it totally rips! It is a totally badass classic style muscle car for those who just want that old school (non-super charger) V8 with a punch!
We just had a 2021 R/T 5.7 as a rental this week. It was a lot of fun-really made the trip if I'm honest. We just kept saying it sounded ANGRY. I agree with JVette01 about the shift points-it downshifts pretty aggressively at about half-throttle, maybe a third even. So you get a lot of grunt-and attitude-whenever you give it even a little skinny pedal. My DD is a RWD GS350 on 19s, with adjustable steering, damping and the usual throttle mapping and transmission adjustments. While the GS is more athletic in the twisties, and only a little slower, the Challenger was so much fun to drive. Much smiling and a good deal of laughing. A guys trip, so we could hoon a bit-and we did. And I just love the way it looked-all black with that hood scoop and splitter-those headlights and grill. Maybe the interior is middling, but...I'd totally rent another one. Might even buy one...

I just got a brand new "leftover" 2022 6-spd manual in frostbite blue and I've never been so in love with a car in my life! It's not the fastest car in the world, but it's the best looking, best sounding and it's so much more comfortable than any other car I've owned (and that includes some SUVs). I'm 6' 5" and it fits me like a glove. I have to move the seat back, of course, but the telescoping steering wheel pulls it right back to where it should be.
I love my rt. If you want a car you don’t have to do anything to then get a higher hp car, but I like to work on my car and play with it and the rt can use a lot of things to do to it
You are having an awful lot of fun for someone that would prefer a Scat Pack. As the owner of a 2020 R/T I have ZERO need for more horsepower. This thing is extremely quick with 0-60 and 1/4 mile times extremely close to the original 1st generation Challenger with the 426 or 440 engines. It's all documented in any internet search. If I was into racing or track use, then yeah, get the Scat or Hellcat. All this fun and enjoyment for a true muscle car that runs on 89 octane (owner's manual).
My brother had an R/T. It still has all the character and sound of the higher end models. It just makes more sense to get a scat because the price difference is not much.
I bought a second hand 2015 Dodge Challenger R/T shaker in 2020 with 1,500 miles. The best deal of my life. It's still my daily driver now with 30,000 miles. No issues. It's an automatic. I got the seats upgraded to leather. It's an amazing car. People don't give this car enough credit for being such incredible value. You can't get any V8 at a better price. I upgraded from a 2013 SXT. It was a huge upgrade in every way. Internal cabin and engine. If you are thinking about buying an R/T you won't regret it. I'll keep this car for many years, but I already know my next car is a scat pack.

I bought a 2023 Challenger R/T+ Last Call in Sublime Green, with six-speed Tremec and a sunroof. It's a plus model, so it has a few creature comforts, with the only thing really extra is the sunroof. It has the same hood and wheel package as this white car in this vid, and I like it more than a shaker, as for me, that's just for show and no go added, and mine is surprisingly quick, and I'd say it's just as quick as a Scat-pack R/T in the 1/8th mile run, but not a winner against it in the quarter mile. The 345 (5.7) is definitely a more modifiable candidate than any of the other faster, bigger engine car and much more expensive MoPars, and you can add mods over time that you can afford rather than paying up front for a showroom queen with huge mark-ups for this Last Call year. I bought mine because I wanted the opportunity to modify it without ruining its value, something that you won't be able to do to a Hellcat RedEye or Demon 170. My first project will be opening up the exhaust with a cat-back double x-pipe straight pipes and quad tips, then I'll possibly get a 4-disc Brembo system if I can find one for a reasonable price. Next year, the Whipple S/C and beefier clutch plate assembly will get all of my yearly budget for mods in 2024. I will always be looking for good used parts from upper level MoPars like suspension pieces or body mods that can be added without too much fuss. Maybe more in future years, I just don't know, but when the warrantee expires, that will open lots of doors for future mods.
I'm 70 years old, meaning I was 18 in 1971. I saw Challengers, Chargers, Cudas, Roadrunners on a daily basis. The 426 Hemis were rather scarce compared to 383 and 440 engines. The old 426 Hemi engines are completely different than these new ones, not the same at all. The newer Hemis particularly the 5.7 rated at 375 horsepower is not that strong an engine. I know because I've owned several Challenger R/T's with the 5.7. They don't pull as hard as 1970 Challenger with a 383 either. My guess is the real horsepower rating of the 5.7 is more like 350.

The rims i chose got discontinued in my offset 2 years ago so now i gotta figure that out too 🤣 even doing a bumper swap was a nightmare because the splash shields had to be rigged to fit around the front end. Looking back thougg. The AWD is awesome. Cant even get it to slip in the rain. And itll walk a stock scatpack with the right mods.
I thought the thumbnail was a simulation
In my opinion, it's definitely good enough if that's all you can afford. If you can afford a scat pack or hellcat, the 5.7 is rather weak in comparison. If you own a 5.7, DO NOT test drive a scat pack or hellcat. You will be disappointed with your small Hemi.
It still sounds good and has okay power
Sounds awesome with a nice exhaust. I like the dynomax mini race bullets for mufflers. I think it's bit too quiet if left stock.
For the price range your better off with the mustang GT or Camaro SS
Nah those cars suck
drove one it ain fast tho
I would love to own an R/T Charger (if I could afford one), but I would choose an caveman's manual gearbox.
Chargers are automatic only
Damn, my fault, sorry :) obviously I meant Challenger, with a reminescence of Vanishing Point in my mind
Can I get this car for 500 a month if u put 5000 down and have a 730 credit score ??
I’m not sure. There are payment calculators online that you can check
I put 3k down on mine with a terrible score 9 years ago(33k) and got it for just over 500 a month. So should be doable.
What year is it?
This one was a 2019
Very cool and good sounding but a bmw 330 diesel is faster...
What car you got G?
Not extremely fast ? Ah yeah it is ha
It’s quick!
A BMW euro trash not a muscle car and expensive to fix
Has nothing to do with bmw but okay
Lol but will it beat the 5.0 ......no it won't hahaha
The Scat Pack is designed to compete with the 5.0
@@JVette01 dude no 5.0 vs 5.7 not ford's fault dodge built bad displacement the cobra is for the scat pack 5.0 is the stock gt package just like 5.7 is the stock dodge package
The challenger came out making 2008 making 372-376 hp out of a 5.7 wich was crushing the 4.6 so 2011 Ford brought back the 5.0 making 420 its still a 5.0 vs a 5.7 it shouldn't take a 6 liter and super chargers to complete with the base class v8 vs base class v8 they are directly in competition along with the price as well scat pack is ??how much?? to compete with a 20k$ mustang 5.0?? ... the 5.7 and the 5.0 are in the exact same class Ford just made a better engine for the base v8
Not talking shit I'm watching this video cause I'm thinking about getting the RT( looks better) I'm just saying
@@JVette01 sorry one more thing with simple bolt ons to the 5.7 u can make 400 plus so who's fault it that 😉 dodge could have done it so u don't have to
With a tune for the bolt ons obviously
@@keithrichards5688 bruh 20k for a 5.0 ?? Lmfao only if it has 80k miles on it… the Dodge Challenger rt is the cheapest best looking v8 from the big 3 you can get right now with inflation lol and like you said you can easily get it over 400 hp.
That baby got a delete under it sounds good 🫠
