I suddenly kinda wish that Fortnite had some kinda public proximity voice chat Imagine turning a corner and getting your guts atomized by two aliens with double barreled shotguns as they casually talk about temperature norms
41:55 Interesting that NL mentioned this example because something like this happened where I work, we had to develop a public transport app that allowed old or medically limited people to schedule trips to and from medical facilities. It was really simple to use, you simple included basic personal information, origin and destination, but we very early realized that almost 80% of the people who wanted a service like that weren't using it because they didn't know how to install and use an app. The solution was basically to publicize a phone number that on the other side just has someone use the app to include the necessary information from the callers. I realize NL is laughing out of the absurdity of the idea but in the real world sometimes these are the best solutions to apply.
Ghostbusters has Sigourney Weaver -> and she played Ellen Ripley in Alien -> which was directed by Ridley Scott -> so Ridley Scott was in Ghostbusters.
I have heard people use that "fahrenheit has more granularity" argument like Dan. But every time I hear anyone speak about temperature in Fahrenheit, they always round to the nearest 5 anyway.
You tell him Egg. Metric is better and used in science for a reason. It’s historical why imperial is still used in some countries. I’m from a mixed measurement country
Oh I love a good measurement talk. I'm not saying I am on the side of fahrenheit, but I think celsius is equally dumb. Comparing it to something like speed, you have km/h which makes sense because it's a general measurement that can apply to everything. But using the state of water for all temperature would be like measuring speed by a scale of 0 being stopped and 100 being the speed of sound and saying that's the right way to do it because it's 'scientific' or such. Outside of science stuff, I don't really see how using a scale about water would matter, because the water itself tells you what it's at. If it's freezing it freezes, if it's boiling it boils. It's also funny whenever people do the "fahrenheit only makes sense because you are used to it." when it's the same shit the other way around too. The one thing I like about the imperial system is the foot measurement. Sure it sounds dumb and doesn't divide well, but it's an incredibly useful distance to measure everyday things at. The jump between centimeters and meters is way too big for lots of things, and I have never once seen someone use a decimeter. For something less than a meter it's a lot simpler to think "it's 2.5 feet" instead of "it's 76 centimeters". And conveniently, parts of the body are comparable to imperial measurements so you can do quick distance checks.
I'm sorry to say but for someone that grew up with the metric system it's a lot simpler to think of something as 75 cm rather than 2.5 ft. The everyday usability of measuring systems are entirely based on what one grew up using, but celsius is just generally preferred because its far better for precise and quick conversions.
2:05 "That's cause you grew up with it bro" dog doesn't realize that's literally how people with imperial feel when people say "OMG how do you live with imperial" like bro it doesn't matter. anyone i talk to is using a measurement system that i know well. like i get that science should (and does) exclusively use metric but for most of us it literally has no impact
He does understand that. He also understands that any scale can be divided into smaller parts. They're all the same. Metric scales are just better because most of the world uses them, and they are related. For instance a cubic centimeter of water weighs a gram (at sea level.) Did you know an inch in the US is officially defined as 25.4 millimeters? Has been since 1959.

its unreal actually

7:57 Mathas mentioned omg how long has it been
"but for human weight?" Dan, we still can use kilogramms for human weight
This reminds me how well Ryan and Dan go together. The banter is on 1000 and the pair is Goated.
2:52 I know they're arguing about celcius vs fahrenheit, but I cant believe that a green bald alien killed naruto.

Fahrenheit also has one significant figure but, with typical American extravagance, they have two of them.

Dan's defense of Imperial is both logically sound and accurate.

As someone from America that is 100% the reason imperial is still used it's just because we already use it and are used to it
This guy is cracked outer his mind !!

15⁰c is definitely t-shirt weather, i'm in southern sweden lmao which i assume is similar to canada weather. he's cooked.

I don’t think Dan understands US-led imperialism and how yes, the US is the world’s #1 enemy kinda like Palpatine and the empire in Star Wars.
I mean, it is specifically imperial as in the British Empire, but they're similar anyways.
