I've been made aware that the 4 reactors on the sides of my example setup aren't connected to the plasma passthrough and my dumb ass didn't notice. Thanks for pointing it out! Despite that, it seems to work quite well though and hopefully was helpful, if even as an example of what not to do. 😅
On top of this, I'm guessing you hand fed the example reactors. The two in the middle have no path that I can see to receive the fusion power cells. Good video though, you explained the mechanic just fine.
If I did my math correctly, the core 6 can feed 80, and you only have 38 on the top side. Mirroring them on the south side wouldn't even take all that the core 6 could use. But it's fun watching people learn. I'm good with ratios, but the layout of the generators, that will take a while. Interesting Tessellation-type problem...
in your reactor set up you only have 6 active because the plasma connections are only on the top and bottom so the 4 on the sides have no connection to the plasma turbines
I'm guessing your four side reactors aren't running because there's not output for the plasma they generate. Looks like they're sharing plasma up and down and only coolant side to side.
Fluoroketone = flow - row - key - tone. It's not pronounced as a single word, instead it's 2 words: fluoro (flow-row) and ketone (key-tone). This is a pretty good run down on fusion power. Looking forward to more guides, about to reach Vulcanus!
RFK is trying to get rid of it lol jokes aside I think it's "Flu-oh" like in the flu, not flow. That's how you would pronounce the greek/latin prefix at least might be a bit hard for english speakers to get right though, and "flow" is close enough ;)
I’m watching this as if I’m anywhere close to aquilo. I spent 43 hours on nauvis over preparing. Landed on Vulcanus last night and have the power, and a liquid bus but haven’t even fought a demolisher yet.
Do not worry, sounds normal. I am ~130 hours in, and consider building one of theses soonish. On Nauvis, since Nauvis has the power problems. For Aquillo one single Nuclear Reactor is enough for power right now. But the "consumes fuel cells only if needed" is VERY convincing even for Aquillo.
lmao hand feeding them is the only way. granted they don't consume quickly but yeah, it's not exactly useable. especially not on aquilo. that said, his 2 reactor setup is actually just about right for aquilo power, easy to get heat pipes in there and expand it a bit.
I think it's pronounced "floro key tone", at least my dad (who was a chemical engineer) used to say "key tone". I don't know whether flouroketone is real, but "polyether-ether-ketone" (for example) is real and is a type of very rigid plastic, and other ketones are very high-end solvents that for example audio engineers used to use for cleaning the heads of magnetic tape drives.
yep, it does. made a bunch of different quality earlier and the ratio stays the same. except... you kind of have to use the same quality everything. maybe that's worth it on a shattered planet ship, otherwise it's kinda silly to roll a bunch of them to get better quality when you could just plop down basic and if you need more power... do it again?
Anyone has an idea of the Nieghbour bonus? Reactors get this fixed Bonus, but Fusion seems to fluctuate and the Bonus is constantly changing at around 50% per Neighbour? Why is it changing all the time and how make it more constant? is it related to amount of cold/hot liquid in Generator?
Seems like the neighbor bonus scales with the production levels of the individual reactors (and therefore power consumption). If you consume 100% of the power, therefore your reactors all work at 100%, you will get 100% of the neighbor bonuses.
How does neighbor bonus work? Does it make them produce more plasma or just consume less fuel? You said that the ratio is 1:2 regardless, but if they have a neighbor bonus how can that be?
I made a small platform with no thrusters above Nauvis solely to make space science. But it appears it's exhausted all asteroid in reach and has no production now. What do you do in this case?
@@Olden_son they cheap. and can be prod modded. you're already going to be exporting science from aquilo, fuel cells are easy to bring along and they do not get consumed quickly. can switch every planet to fusion power with just a few barrels of fluoroketone and an aquilo supply ship that has a few hundred fuel it always hauls around. except vulcanus. using anything other than solar there is just silly
9:52 Those reactors on the sides are literally not even connected to the rest of the build. The plasma doesn't transfer across the fluoroketone lines, you need to connect them with more generators so that the plasma isnt just sitting there.
Your example build... The Plasma doesn't link between the inner and the left/right set of 2 fusion generators, so the two outer pairs would need additional turbines connected.
im not even close to aquilo now but i went on test mode ealier today to do some math, the formula for the tubines are: number of turbines = plasma per second / (2 / temperature) Turbines consume less plasma at higher temperatures, at 1m°c they consume 2l/s but at 2m°c ist only 1l/s. Neighbor bonus only increases the temperature not the flow of plasma, so when plugging temperature in the formula you need to either add the plasmas and average the temperature or do separate segment of turbines for each neightbor bonus, it a mess and i cant wait for it. Also "we have nuclear which has been in the game for a long time." what do you mean, i remeber them adding it yesterday... oh no...

If you left one in middle that can't get any fusion cells, will it still give the neighbour bonus to others?

We recognize your rebranded thermofluid there Earendel!
And we are sure happy with that. Very *cool* mechanic, isn't it?
I chose to watch this over a bikini try-on haul video.

That's probably the biggest compliment I've gotten all day. Now go treat yourself to that try on vid!

Also your large design has no way to insert fusion cells to the middle reactors
@@p1ngerss To be fair, if you chuck a stack of fusion cells in there, it will last an eternity :D

Floro-KEY-tone
How would you feed the middle two of the 10-reactor setup? doesnt seem like there is a way yet they are running

probably closer to floor owe key tone but that works

How does quality interact with the ratios? Assuming you have the same level of reactor and generators, does the ratio of 1/2 stay the same?

Thx for the video!
Aren't the 4 offline reactors not working because they're not connected to the generators ?
Great vid tho !
Yeah, they aren't connected on the plasma slots at all
What are your recommendations on quality, both for buildings and fuel?

Fluoroketone = "Floor-oh-key-tone"
Bra change your picture your embarrassing me
I believe its pronounced floor-oh-key-tone, flouroketone. Its a ketone with a flourine atom somewhere.
Wait! This thing is closed-looped? Like - it fuels from what it produces after reprocessing?
That means infinite Energy, am i right?
You still need fuel cells but you don't need a constant supply of liquids. Just enough to start it.

Your 10 reactor setup does not connect to the plasma output from the 4 reactors on the sides, that's why they are not running.
