In today's video, filmed in 2020, we are exploring the abandoned Park Hotel in Preston, Lancashire that was formerly a railway owned property since 1883. Although the interior is mostly stripped, we come across incredible architecture and some hidden secrets that have lasted more than 80 years.

If I could be a time traveler, I'd like to go back and visit that hotel when it was in its prime. What stories that building could tell.
Such a beautiful place...seems like this explore revealed that this place is in much better shape than many of the others that you've introduced us to.
Very nice.
So many buildings are lost every 4-5 years around the world.
It would be helpful for our videos too, so we could show an accurate then and now!
the interesting thing is that since this video renovations have begun
What a truly beautiful building. Man when you walked through that top door, it was like traveling back in time a 100 years. Very cool.
Hadn't been modernised like the upper floors, totally unique!
The best stuff's _always_ the furthest from the front door!
Great video there is a tunnel from this hotel that used to run to Preston Station but its now bricked up , near enough next door is the former Mount street teaching hospital that started life as an orphanage for Catholic girls in 1872 and is currently in a very dangerous state on my last visit .
That's very interesting. Thanks for sharing. We visited the Mount Street Hospital a few times over the years and it was always in a worsening state. I believe it's being demolished now
There used to be so many Railway Hotels about the UK and they all appeared to be outstanding buildings in their day! Such a pity most of them no longer exist. Would have loved to been in these when they were in there peak condition as based on the stair cases, the must have been outstanding! Thanks lads for another great video.

No problem. We did one up in Scotland a couple years back. Always tend to be grand buildings with incredible design.
The Grand Hotel in York is an old railway hotel, and was the old head office for the railway company. Lots of original features remain, and it's a nice spot to stay in the centre of York.
I am intrigued by the size of the doorways which seem to be enormous even in the smaller upstairs rooms. Must have been quite a lovely place for social workers to have worked and I sincerely hope they are able to find a way to repair and make use of the building as it really is stunning.
I live near this hotel, i thought it was being rebuilt in to a new hotel?
I went round it when the council moved out of this building I was collecting some furniture for a school I workedcat at the time, this was pre COVID.
The large pink room on the ground floor was used as a wedding venue for the council. That's why it was in such good condition.
I'm praying one day, this railway hotel will be restored and reopened to its former glory and appearance.
Great work guys it’s always sad to see a glorious old building laying idle and derelict.
Hi Guys, yet another great time show I like the way you concentrate on the building without duplication of rooms. Thank you for my Urbandoned magazines, to anyone out there who doesn't know, these guys have a very high quality magazine issues 1&2 which would compliment any collection and I highly recommend.
Really glad you like the magazines, and thank you for the lovely feedback
This video was so relaxing. I loved all of the soft clicks and had to watch it again!
Amazing building!!!!
Man, so jealous you got in here. Had a meander around a few times. Good work lads.
Spent time in there some 40 years ago at my Dads office I’m 49, he worked in health education for NHS, the grand staircase is one memory.
Thanks for bringing memories back.
Great building. Hopefully it gets restored and can entertain people again in the near future.
Fingers crossed
Brilliant explore as ever guys let’s hope it gets restored and reused.
Tories will burn it
Hopefully, but it's looking difficult now with the constant vandalism
Beautiful tilework lining all the corridors.
18:42 That's Morse Code above GJ's monogram/tag from 49.
It's A/L/ & then praps B so might be ex WWII squaddie and Signal Corps Albert.
What would he have thought (or still think) of the gubbins you use to show us around?
Excellent explore, it’s surprisingly bright inside with wide corridors for a Victorian hotel. Spotted it from the train when passing through the town recently.
The Victorians adored their natural light! Always as imposing as ever when you pass through Preston
Brilliant explore. Always enjoy the well chosen soundtracks too.
Much appreciated - we take time to pick out the fitting ones!
hi to Urbandoned from Australia that was a fantastic explore of the beautiful hotel love the architect design its a shame that it is left to rot but a great explore
Hello!
G'day!
Great video! Sadly though, another example of the shameful neglect of our heritage buildings. I wish the owners would treat it with as much respect as you do during your exploration.
Tory governments fault, policy is burn it down
Fantastic explore! Great architecture! 😁
The tiling in the corridors and stairways! Amazing. ----- We all know about 'Location, location, etc.' and this stunning building is no longer occupying the very best of spots. ---- No doubt it'll be neglected further. A great shame.
Totally, it's tragic to see high demand properties in terrible conditions
Love your work guys. Your appreciation of architecture and wanting to capture it is amazing. Always looking forward to your next video...!
Thank you very much
Protec Fire Alarm sounders - at last! lol They're the boxes with silver horns in your vid btw. Please show more ancient fire alarms in your vids 😊
I will try!
I love your videos Alistair you’ve inspired me to explore abandoned buildings ❤ thanks for the amazing content
Hope it is going well! Glad you enjoy :)
@@Urbandoned I’m trying to find some in my area but there aren’t many
Hiya Alistair, what an hotel this is, I hope the council do something with this hotel, its too good to be left in a deralict state, its good that the old fireplaces have been left as they were 100 years ago, I cant get enough of these empty hotels, power stations and everything else, this is Choppy in Whitehaven, Cumbria, England
Glad you are enjoying the content - more to come!
Brilliant video lads, I highly recommend checking out Austin's Department Store in Derry, Northern Ireland. It's a beautiful building and was the worlds oldest independent department store until it shut in 2016.
Thanks for the tip!
❤Always, Love your Videos content is unique looking forward to catching up on your Amazing Work❤😊
Hi Alistar how are you doing mate? Great video as always well edited plus great background music added in the exploring scenes its a real shame that this real old 1880s hotel is abandoned like this but at least the electricity is still working but nothing valuable that once was inside when it was a hotel survives as its been completly stripped to a bare shell but it has been vandalised a bit from all the glass shards, those fire places are really old and unusal design plus dome where the reception once was there the ballroom was in 10 times better conditon compaired to anywhere else in the hotel but the more you go up the more stripped it gets and cleaner too both of these places are now in worser conditon after you went as all the windows are smashed non the less a great place to explore as its such a massive building anyways I hope your having a good afternoon so far Alistar and keep up the great content on your channel like always as its so enjoyable and entertaining to watch 👍
Just subscribed as watching the Railway Hotel. Great shots! This reminds me of Beacon Hotel, Beacon Hill, Hindhead, Surrey where I worked one winter when a student and it was Thd Lloyds Bank training centre. After everyone had gone, I asked to go upstairs to take photos and it had exactly the same type of look out turret. It was beautiful with amazing lofty views. This was in 1994. Unbelievely it got knocked down and I think a block if flats were built in its place. Check out the old photos and history online.
Thanks for subscribing to the channel! I'll take a look at that building, perhaps it was designed by the same architect
A rumored plan is now to turn it into apartments and build up new builds on the space around it. But I fear its going to left to rot away and face the same fate as the old orphanage has.
Praying that it doesn't go in the same way as Mount Street...
These videos are a love letter to The Proper People ❤
I think we would marry them
@@Urbandoned what about a collab? :) x
30 years ago, I worked there in the old Staffing Department. Through the main doors on the left.
I really hope they do something good with it.
An absolutely beautiful building should be preserved and protected the architecture and panelling. should be brought back into a hotel again I’d stay there
The tiling must have taken some doing. It's beautiful as is the grand staircase.
Besutiful building - I dare not look at what condition it's in now
Sad to see this in the state it's in. Development has still stalled and after a couple of suspect fires at other historical buildings in Preston, I fear the worst.
Shame our 2 councils don't give a toss about our heritage.
Tory governments policy is burn it down
The top of the tower is amazing.
I Hope it doesn't get set on fire.
Tories do as Tories always do
Hey lad’s mine video as always this building is beautiful the architecture and the stairs wow
Great guys, shame though you did not explore the cellars.
Amazing video, thank you x
Beautiful Edwardian tilework in the hall.
Those big bay windows ooft. Can we all chip in and buy it? 😉
Lets get this arranged!
In days way back up in the roof top room was a big water tank for fire as in the fillm towering inferno you did not show that but it is true. but you did a good job on filming. Its last days thank you keep up the good work. 😊
I love my fridays now!😅
Nice explore
What do you suspect was in the tower ? A lot of almost modern sockets in the trunking around the room - just seemed a little odd
The property is now Listed and is undergoing restoration to be reused as a Hotel again.
To be burnt down by Tory millionaire developers like crooked pub
Excellent. Just out of interest, what drone were you using? The footage looks great
Thank you!! We use the DJI Air2S
I live in an old Railway building, converted into modern apartments, better than falling into disrepair I guess.
I thought I recognised that building!
My Dad worked on this building in the mid 60's
I used to work there when it was council offices.
Would make a great hospital.
History on people's doorsteps just walk past & never know the history of the buildings.
Was this demolished. No words. Is it not B listed our equivalent of grade 2 listing. 😢
What happened to all the doors ??
Nice video but plz uploaded more aeroplane videos
On it...
fighter jet video
It really reflects the state of the UK in general: a chronically declining Tory hellhole
Yes 13 Tory austerity years
Is this still abandoned ?
yes
@@georgiamayy1343is it still abandoned now?
I love these vids, but how do you not get burried under tresspassing lawsuits?!?
In England trespass is not a crime. Breaking in and damage is however. If the owner asks you to leave you must leave. In this case I imagine the person simply walked in and didn't do any damage, so no laws broken.
Also the wonderful legal latin
_nec clam nec vie nec precario_
means that (as stated) you mustn't break in which the lads patently didn't as the sash window was open[able] and nor must you go equipped. Equally you mustn't break anything once inside.
Gives "Leave just your footsteps" a different slant don't it!
I Doubt you don't order a take away. Don't be talking rubbish
We do! Just saying that it's important to stay healthy, despite our busy lives and the company makes it a lot easier with what they offer
Not again can you or will you ever make new content Please stop these repeats! Or have you stopped doing it now ????
I’m terribly sorry, we sometimes want to check out some cool places other people have been to. We are always looking for new places and have endless in the vault. We will show some soon
@Urbandoned of course you do! It's all about experiencing the space for yourself and different people will show different elements at different points in history. There are certain buildings (especially if I have a connection with them) that I'll watch countless videos of and never get bored. You clearly state which building it is at the start of the video, so people can choose if it's of interest to them. And if not, don't watch it. The world isn't going to run out of other things to do 😂
