    I think they should be careful with releasing their next song, because baam and bboom bboom sound so much alike. Hope they wont fall into the "one hit wonder" category. I mean even the dance is similar. Looking forward to them experimenting with new concepts!

      I don’t think they will. EXID had their first hit song “Up & Down” and followed that very similar sound with “Ah Yeah” then after that, since they now secured that huge fan base, they can try more styles

    They could easily become the 3rd gen T-ara with the catchy dances and bases. I think they should be less afraid of releasing a different song because they already have the fanbase. I'm afraid that their next song will be beem or bboom bboom steve aoki's remix, that will make them just a one hit wonder.

      I'm glad I'm not the only one who was thinking they could be the next T-ara, but that's only if their producers give them another sound. If their next release is Bboom Bboom 3.0 people will definitely lose interest. The next song will determine whether or not they can live up to the hype.

      I'm betting on the next one being something really different. They pretty much rose from obscurity to promoting a runaway hit for FOUR MONTHS STRAIGHT. That's so huge - I was always curious with this one as to how they were gonna approach it. Play it safe or take a chance. I don't blame them at all for playing it safe and entrench themselves while they're in the public eye - plenty of time to show diversity once they're more established.

    Thank you, this was the best reaction that I have ever seen. I see a lot of people defending the costumes because their "bias are using them" I was so happy when I saw the flag of Mexico but the wardrobe made me cringe, everything would have been perfect if the company had done a little research about the clothing of each country at least. At the end is not MOMOLAND fault, it's not like they can choose what to wear.

  • @Jonawtawn
    @Jonawtawn 6 років тому +412

    Kinda sad that their concept is basically fun for the whole world, going international, appreciating other culture, yet they can't spot the difference between traditional Mexican poncho with African Dashiki top.
    The whole company and the group is doing bad on their cultural research lol.
    And btw, that corny dance on the bridge part, lots of people in social media pointed out it looks like the alien dance thing, like, idk how to describe it but it was a video of an bad-decent alien dancing, and it was exactly like that. Dont know if it was a nod to that or they just rip it off casually.

    • @Jonawtawn
      @Jonawtawn 6 років тому +16

      And I agree, it doesnt sounds like bbom bbom, but the structure, the way they make it, really sounds like the same. But again, the producer is the same.
      I just feel that after all of the bad rumors and things from their bbom bbom comeback, Baam now suffer the same.

    • @_linlin_
      @_linlin_ 6 років тому +13

      Jonathan Hasiholan when you go to google there are thousands stereotypical mexican costumes, they could easily buy one that didn't mix culutures, idk how they could not actually see their mistake.

    • @Jonawtawn
      @Jonawtawn 6 років тому +33

      Ciellistium I dont think they care that much. This is not a bash to the girls, this is a bash to the company and the staff and the stylist. They dont give a fluff about this thing. They dont even commit 100% to the concept, so I doubt that they even do real research. Like the France theme... the company cant even hire proper stylist to style the wig to fit to their head.
      It's kinda weird because it feels like they try really hard to make this a thing, where in Bbom Bbom they make it corny in purpose, the ads thingy.

    • @kalebsok2947
      @kalebsok2947 6 років тому +2

      @lorenafrancesca6918 6 років тому +11

      I mean okay the concept is international and they wore like traditional ancient clothing for some part of the world. But they were female clothing...why did they go for a male one for the Mexican?? They could have wore a Mexican beautiful dress. I seen them all the time on TV and I found them really beautiful. Why didn’t they go with that?? They wouldn’t have offended anyone with a Mexican dress and no mustache smh

    guys. for all the people who are saying, "I'm a ______ and I didn't get offended!" are you guys the sole ones representing your race? no? then stop acting like you are. some people may get offended, and that's fine. let them be offended. it's literally no harm for them to be offended unless they are trying to sabotage momoland in some way. so just leave them alone.
    and same goes for the other side too. for the people who got offended, don't hate on momoland. don't hate on anyone actually. but if you feel that angry and hurt over a few outfits and you feel the need to hate on somebody, hate on the production team and not on momoland. momoland did nothing to you guys. their production team was probably behind everything, so take your hate and direct it towards them. and for those who say, "well momoland could've researched better and they could've said something!" well do you think they have the time for that? preparing for a comeback takes lots of time. practising the dance, getting in shape, fliming the video, dieting, training and they have very little time for sleep anyways. and I'm betting that they would rather get some precious rest than research something they think that the production team already researched well enough. and even if they did research something, they have actually very little say over their outfits in MVs anyways.
    sOrRy I just had to rant after seeing some comments. momoland doesn't deserve some of these comments at all.

      BAAM has a more addictive chorus. But overall, Bboom Bboom is a better song imo. The rap part fits the song well and the Yeonwoo bridge works out.
      BAAM reminds me of some of Shinsadsong's old works with T-ara, like Number 9 and Sugar Free. The chorus seems more vibrant and addictive like Shinsadong's usual EDM-heavy style. The downfall of BAAM is pretty much everywhere else. The verses are weak, but that is also prevalent with a lot of the popular T-ara songs he's done. The rap part also doesn't really fit the song

    i didn't like the video at all. it wasn't too problematic, but there were a few parts that shouldn't be there, especially in 2018. i love the song a lot. even if it does have the same structure as bboom bboom, it's a really good song. the only part i didn't really care for was daisy's rap. i think the mv would've been a lot better if they made it a roller disco theme or something like that. on their mnet stage, it was really cool how the lighting changed with their shoes as well. i don't know, the mv was just extremely boring to me and the dance should've been shown a lot more.

      3:10 is where he sorta addresses that costume. it's a bit... much. it could be offensive to hispanic audiences. i saw some people in the comments that were disappointed, as well as people from other cultures who weren't fans of the music video. i'm not personally offended, but i don't think that was smart. it's not the first time something like this happened in kpop, and i guarantee it won't be the last, even though there's been backlash by intl audiences each time.

      i know it wasn't supposed to be taken seriously or be offensive to any culture, they were having fun. but some people aren't so forgiving. if you are from a culture that was represented in the video and you weren't offended, that's great. but they need to stop doing this in the industry. they should play it way safer.

    Controversial comparisons always arise when a group makes a comeback after coming off a smash hit. Although Baam has certain signature hip/arm sways and structure with Bboom Bboom, the production and music are quite different and distinct. Baam has a more vibrant, energetic, and faster upbeat continuous from start to end. Both have their funky, weird, and catchy renditions....typical Momo-nesque style. They are great MV's and I believe Baam will be another hit and just as strong as Bboom Bboom ... an amazing feat from a small agency.

    I really like watching the dance practises for both songs as the choreography stands out with the song. Perhaps reacting to them will make this better.

    The same producer that worked on bboom bboom also did baam (I’m not sure of his name) but this producer is known for releasing very similar sounding songs after the first one becomes a hit
    Eg. He produced EXIDs up and down and ah yeah, they two hits that established their popularity
    Also produced t-aras lovey dovey and rolly poly I believe that gained them fame

    Considering that I saw the early teaser photos, as a fan of momoland, I really thought they were going for a different vibe or concept for a music video. I actually had an idea for it:
    So it begins with a shot of the members talking and just finding a place to relax after their shooting of bboom bboom. Mind you they are still wearing what they wore at bboom bboom.
    So they found this roller skating place and decided to just hang out there. When they went in, it felt different but looked like a normal rink. Three of the members gave it a try and when the other members were finished tying up their roller skating shoes, the other three disappeared. The rest of them tried to follow them by going in to the rink. Then a bright light swallowed them and when they opened their eyes, the roller skating rink became some sort of "access" to see the whole world. Like they could tour different landmarks and what not. After having fun they saw a dancefloor where many flags are erected around it and an arch saying "welcome momoland" and then baam! (no pun intended) the music video starts.
    And at the end, after dancing they go back to the real world and look back at the roller skating place. They look at one another and gives the audience a look at the different members wearing different accessories or costumes from different countries.
    Idk this could've been a much better concept. Like there is an actual story to it. But the MV is already released so we can't do anything about that :)

    Thanks so much for putting your opinion on MOMOLAND - BAAM , you’re really good at putting everything into words. You really put lots of insight and used your knowledge of things (on the video production). I enjoy listening to your opinion it’s not highly biased. :)
    Do you think you would have liked the videography if it was kind of like Holiday - SNSD style video? With the whole party theme. I think I would’ve loved it if they chose that. Thanks for making your videos and I wish I could support your patreon so instead I like all ya stuff and share your video with friends and on social media! (My friends who aren’t even Kpop fans enjoy your insight on music videos lol and find ur voice calming)

    Im hesitant to stan Momoland due to Nancy and i blocked the sombrero and mustache from my memory... I was hoping for latin representation, maybe with mexican dresses ( which i forgot the official names, which is colorful and has ruffles) and then saw... That. Despite that, i love everything that pd said and i agree on everything that he said

    The Album Title is "Fun to the World" and that's what they tried to portray in the Music Video. If you will just watch the Music Video without knowing about the album concept you'll obviously think it's out of place. And if you see the album cover, they actually have a lot of flags of countries where they have a huge fanbase. I kinda disagree with the verses being weak cause I feel that they are more upbeat compared to Bboom Bboom which was a long build up to the chorus. I enjoy BAAM overall better than Bboom Bboom because of the progression of the song. But thanks for your unbias opinion. Definitely one of the best I've seen. Keep up the good work!

    • @blumontage
      @blumontage 6 років тому +39

      gstar47 the thing is, not everyone is a fan. Like me for example, it's very important how the title track will be portrayed in order of being interested in checking the rest of the album. If the title track is weak, I will have 0 interest in their other music. Simple as that.
      You shouldn't assume that everyone will catch the concept because some people are occasional listeners. I was interested in them after bboom bboom but not enough to be a fan, and now with this song, they totally lost me. Their company should focus on getting better and offer quality so they can keep the fan base that they earned and also, gain more fans. But doing copy paste and then messing up with the concept of the mv (which I definitely find problematic since my country is involved in this mess) I think they don't want to success

    • @Gstar47
      @Gstar47 6 років тому +10

      Ki Ka I'm not sure what country you are from so I wouldn't understand why you would be offended by the music video. But everyone in the fandom was very happy to see that their country was represented in the music video. Im quite sure that Momoland's fanbase is like 50% Filipinos. That 2 seconds where Nancy wave the Philippines Flag was enough for everyone to be so thankful that Momoland acknowledged that they have a huge Filipino fanbase. But of course that didn't mean there was no controversy, casual Filipinos thinks that Momoland was just fawning towards Filipinos to have an even bigger fanbase and some even claiming that Nancy waiving the Filipino flag was against the law (which totally was not). So it's really up to you if you will get offended or like them for the effort they put in making their fans happy cause they are a genuine group who loves their fans. Remember they are not that popular in Korea and having this huge international fanbase makes them happy cause they're work is actually being appreciated by someone.

      Besides the whole concept of "Fun to the World", I also really dislike the MV, it's unpleasing to watch, it feels old-fashioned in the worst way possible.
      I also disagree with the verses being weak, I honestly feel like they're even better than Bboom Bboom's.
      The only thing I really dislike about Baam is that horrible, just hooorrible, rap part. It totally ruins the whole song for me, sadly. Bboom Bboom's rap part wasn't great either, but I got used to it.

    • @kibakun1000
      @kibakun1000 6 років тому +26

      gstar47 I'm not sure where the other person is from, but I was a bit put off on the Mexican "representation" in the video. I'm from Mexico myself and it made me sad to see that the other countries had such elegant and pretty dresses and outfits to represent their country, while we got a sombrero, a fake mustache and a shirt that isn't even Mexican. I appreciate the attempt but it sucks that that's what they chose for Mexico, considering we have beautiful traditional dresses that could have been used.

    • @Gstar47
      @Gstar47 6 років тому

      Mauro Madera I actually gotten used to the rap part. Bboom Bboom was such a slow build up song and the rap part complimented that being fast paced. In BAAM's case the lines are being delivered at a more upbeat pace and they slowed it down at the rap part to take an actual break. Remember BAAM is a more dance oriented song than Bboom Bboom is.

    I think the same way as you. It does not sound anything like Bboom Bboom. What makes people think it's Bboom Bboom is the structure. As far as for the rest idk what to think about it because I don't really know much about music. All I know is that I love Bboom Bboom as much (or maybe a little more) than Baam.
