To answer a lot of questions (sorry I don't update this channel anymore): yes, this will work on couches, chairs, car seats, etc. because those are all different types of upholstered furniture. If you are doing this on an article of clothing please make sure you buy a foam backing for it and NEVER felt something while you are wearing it. This video is a life saver. I bought a chair from IKEA last year that i had my eye on for years. My cat never clawed furniture in 4 years, until i got the chair. I’ve had it under three blankets for a year now. I thought the chair was too far gone. It was so clawed on the side and back that i figured it was ruined. This method works so well! There were literally thousands of snags on the chair. It is slow work but it looks almost as good as new. Thank you so much!
Hi there i just recived my 38 star-shaped needle-felting needle to use it on my IKEA chair cover which was badly puled by my cats ! Very naughty ones ! I have to admit it worked 100% everything is invisible now and it looks like new. It also works on rugs with a pulled fibers. Many thanks xx
I have two Westies and a tweed couch. Their little claws really have done a number on it. I just used this and I am amazed! Tips: try to pin point where the loops came from and use the needle to push it back into that spot. This way the pattern looks as close to original as possible. Be gentle. You could break the needle (I did) or break a thread. Try not to break the threads. Take it slow until you get used to it.
Can’t believe I never thought of this. This literally SAVED my brand new headboard my cat decided was her new scratching post. So much better than using one of the fabric shavers which cuts the fabric, potentially causing more frays down the line. Thank you!!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Dang! Thank you! this worked so much better than I expected. I just bought a brand new expensive office chair (a graduation present from myself and hubby) and was really excited about it until I realized my cat decided that I had bought him a new scratching post. I was pretty disappointed and pretty mad at the cat even though the damage was minor. This worked really well! Appreciate it!
I was just looking for a way to fix my couch because of pulled fibres from my kitty's claws. I'm glad there is an entire video dedicated to it and there are others out there who feel my pain
You saved my sofa! I need to get some felting pads so i can take off my seat covers and fix them too, but the rest of the sofa looks brand new - thank you so so so much
Just wanted to say thanks, I just got a brand new couch with a thread that had been pulled, and I pushed it back in with some needle nose tweezers after watching your video, worked flawlessly.
Thanks so much for the great idea! We have only had this furniture for about 5 months and the cats have really made this couch look like crap. I will try asap!
So thankful many years later. We got a new lounge and I was not prepared for house easily it pulled threads. I got a kitten recently and didn't want to give up having nice furniture
You are AWESOME! Thank you for the video we just bought a new couch and adopted a cat at the same time. Lol, needless to say the couch has a couple of loops in it now. With this new information, thanks to your video, our new couch should be looking as good as the day we bought it.
Thank you for this suggestion. It really works! We bought a new sofa recently and although our two cats have mostly left it alone one of them can't resist sinking his claws into it when he is trying to get our attention. The fabric is microfiber and it is somewhat claw-resistant but not claw-proof. After I started noticing a few snags I checked online and found your video. I bought the 38 gauge star needles and tried them out tonight. Works great! I only used one needle and used some caution as I was worried that the microfiber would show the holes made by the needle.
Hi Ken. I've found myself in a predicament with my new microfiber sofa. Lots of very small snags. Just wondering if your felting needles left any noticeable marks in the microfiber and if you're happy with the results. Thanks :)
I didnt end up buying the felting needles since they were going to come too late but you saved me! I tried it out with some scissors at home and it worked - looks almost perfect at the right light and can only tell if you look closely from the side that the fabric is stretched. Would be happy to send you along a patreon or venmo equivalent of what I would have paid for the needles!
Wish I would've seen this sooner! I was trimming them with a nail clipper... which also worked but if I had been more aggressive, I surely would've ruined my sofa. Thanks 😘
Thanks for this video. I just moved in with my fiancé and was a little heartbroken that my cat snagged some of his nice furniture. This looks like it will do the trick!
Yes! The needle worked for a pair of pants my cat messed up! I used it a bit different than in the video so I wouldn't damage the pants more, but I would have never thought to use my felting needles!
I played this at double speed because I'm impatient, and at the end when your hand was sped up to poke in all the threads it looked like a hungry little bird eating up the loose bits. That's all. Thanks for the tip.
THANK YOU! We just bought an Ikea Strandmon chair, and it's entirely unforgiving of curious claws. Lots of snags immediately before we had a chance to spray it w/ scratching deterrent.
Can't wait to try this. My cats have had a field day on my sectional. I tried to keep it covered but when my babysitter comes she seems to love to rearrange the covers leaving the bottoms bare.it will probably take me a good few hours to do it all if not more but it will be worth it if I can salvage it.tysm
I know it was stated that you are not updating this channel anymore, but do you think this would work on a mousepad? I've got a big, desk-covering mousepad and my cat jumped and struggled. Now there's a little lifted thread right by the mouse and I'd like to fix it!
I feel like I must be doing something wrong becaise I can’t get this to work. I’m using 38 star felting needles but no matter how much I poke, the snag remains. I wish I knew what I was doing wrong.
I'll answer my own question ... if anyone is interested yes it does work on car cloth upholstery! someone had had something with Sharpe edges on the back seat of my car and pulled snags just like in the video here. I purchased star needles as recommended and they work perfectly. I tried using two needles together as in this video but on my car seat just one needle worked better. thank you very much for this video it's saved me a lot of time and money :)
roothair1 Hi, let me know how you got on. as I said I found one needle better than two (probably because the car seat has a tighter weave?) but it certainly worked great :)
You think this will work on a comforter? Thankfully my couch is leather and I don’t really have any issues with these snags too much, but my comforter is showing some wear from my cat. It’s kinda annoying. Thankfully hasn’t gotten to any of my clothes yet, but don’t wanna speak too soon. You think this could work on comforter and clothes too? I don’t wanna get him declawed, but some days I lean toward the idea of it.
Don't do it. It is cruel. How would you like your first knuckle amputated? What about nerve damage they can't tell you about? CFA won't let cats who have been declawed shown as they believe it inhumane. Just trying to educate.
@@sandrabell3936 Stop repeating the same crap everyone says about declawing. Do you really think he hasn’t heard all of that when he’s researched it? Broken records you anti declaw enthusiasts are. Bug off. My cat is declawed and she’s the happiest well mannered cat you have ever met! 🥰

Will this work on sheer curtains
I bought some 38 gauge felting needles from ebay and I can confirm this method works perfectly & my sofa now looks as good as new - thank you so much!

I just ordered a size 18 crochet hook to fix my couch and wished I had seen your video first, haha...I already had the felting needles...whoops
What a great idea.
Great video!
Thank you for this. My cat also thanks you, he still has a home that is not a shelter.

Would a sewing needle work?
And what to do with shirts and stuff?
Would this work for a threaded cotten t shirt

Steve Brilliant! I came here to see if anyone had tried it on car upholstery. My cat got into our Jeep Wrangler and went to town on it with her claws.
roothair1 Hi, let me know how you got on. as I said I found one needle better than two (probably because the car seat has a tighter weave?) but it certainly worked great :)
Do you think this would work on clothing?
Do u do the same on jeans?
Does anyone know if this would work on a silk type of fabric on a couch??
Thank you. Does it HAVE to be felting needles?
Does it also work on a satin type of fabric?
Umm no. Keep satin locked up far away from cat claws.
does this work even on the cloth that's over the wooden parts of the couch?
Yes, just be more gentle as you work! You don't want to break off the tip of your needle or make it dull.
Cat scratches are usually waaaaay worse
will this work with a tie as well?
Yes, but take it off first...🤣
I found a solution.. 😌.. will test and reply after first attempt..
Have you ever had success needle felting a couch?
That’s literally what she just did. 🙄
I used to cut mine with scissor.
I don’t have felting neddle

oh you just save my brand new sofa!! i had a puppy and 2 cats and they all fighthing on my sofa !!!!! :( :( i was sooooooooooo sad
You “had” a puppy and 2 cats? You no longer have them?
@@thankheavenforseveneleven5522 oh sorry my english is bad lol. I Still have them :)
@@sandralaurella2390 Ooh good. 🙂 Worried me there for a sec.
The solution is simple: You don’t. Take pride in your kitty’s murder mittens and how effective they are!
Take pride in them how? Letting everything in your house be destroyed?
“Oh yeah, my super expensive couch looks like I snatched it from someone’s trash. It only took my cats a few months to do that. I’m so proud 💕”
