I don't remember exactly but i don't think it has been mentioned for Caroline to be in love with someone else afterwards. I haven't watched Legacies. Also, if Julie wanted to she could have ended the show without their kiss and reunion. She chose to end The Originals with them being together, one way or another. :) Also I said that Klaus would change and he definitely did.

I shipped Forwood at first because Tyler was a better person when he was with her and they had good chemistry (and he was a huge step up from Matt), but Klaus and Caroline just instantly meshed together so well, and she brought out a side of him that no one ever expected from his character, so by the time season 4 rolled around I was completely in favor of Klaroline.
