Thanks for sharing. 44f working my first year this year as a ticket scanner and your video is a great help. I was really curious about what you shared in your bonus content! Hopefully powder mountain has the same facilities with employee lockers, etc...
Haha just found this video, I was a 5 day for green acres back in the 02-03 season they definitely upgraded the electrical system on Pitchfork since then. I left Copper in 2012 at which time I was the flat side lift supervisor so I had 0-1,I,K,L,RR,GL and UC (now woodward exp) crews under my direction. Alpine lift was installed the same year but Pitchfork is made from an old A basin lift so it would be technically older, Gem is the oldest original to Copper mountain lift.
I used to love spring skiing at Crystal Mtn in WA when it was still a nice locals' mountain. Not too crowded, snow was a little slushy but not too bad, wasn't freezing my butt off in the high winds. In 1997 they were open until late April. Good that they let you stay sheltered. Sadly Intrawest bought them out and the place is now Yuppie Hell. They've done away with the midweek and most other discounts.
Only covered the basics for you guys in this video. There are a lot more safety things that we do, but for video length I kept the content to the basics of lift operations. Enjoy!
No need to stress. As long as you are able to remember a few key rules you will be fine. There should be a crew leader at your lift to guide you through the more intricate stuff of the job on a daily basis. Have fun out there!
In the morning does the first chair bring the workers to the top and at night if it’s a detachable do the workers ride the last chair down…. And if the lifts are Parked at the top do they keep 1 at the bottom
@@davidantonino7646 how much longer will this winter season continue for? 18th is on the 2nd on Feb. Freshly graduated. Currently feels like I’m shackled to the house.
Nice video man, I worked as a lift in east coast last season and I’m looking for going to west this season. Do u know if copper is hiring Foreign people to work over there? With a J1 visa… I’m Brazilian btw Cheers 🍻
Hello! I have just been accepted as a Lift Operator at Cooper Mountain, I would like to know how the written exam is like after the training. I'm nervous :(
The exam is not bad. Don’t stress! Just make sure you pay attention during the onboarding. You don’t really need to study that much for the exam if you do that!
Copper has employee housing at The Edge. That will be the cheapest option. After that people tend to rent an apartment in Leadville. If you want something nicer than that try Frisco or Silverthorne (those last two towns will by far be the most expensive though). Hope this helps!
I actually just got hired as a lift operator at Stevens Pass also for Vail resorts. This video is very helpful thank you
Hows it going bro
Love that place! Maybe I’ll see you this season
Crazy, I worked there as a lifty the same time you did if the time on your comment is accurate
Hey im starting my second season at Stevens Pass so cool to see someone else from there 🎉

Thanks for the video! I loved beings lift op, I’d probably still be doing it if it wasn’t for the pay. You video brought back good memories, thanks!
A lifty here this winter. Last year I did Vail
Our hill’s god an old but reliable GMD Müeller, with good old manual pump up E-brake. Great lifts those Müellers
Hey thanks so much for making this video I'm applying for a lift operator this year so I can move to co

Darn. It is a shame when that happens. Gotta find a mountain with good management. My friend worked at Crystal last year though and he loved the area

I want to do this for maybe a part time job when I turn 18. Or whatever age you need to be.
I just applied to be lift operator....
Let's see where this adventure takes me.🎉
Oh it can be a wild ride! It started my snowboard addiction
Such a cool video! I'm doing a project in my tourism class and I used your video for ideas!!
Thank you!

Word I’ll be up there in November as a lift op
We do not have a locker room FYI, just our instructors. Have a great season. We just opened last Wednesday, one lift for now, beginner slope. Cheers.
We had a locker room the season I worked there
I’m going to Colorado to ski at copper mountain hope ur there

Yes if you want to but most people just ski down at the end of the day
Any spring jobs that would be in the same category? I need to get out. ASAP.
Maybe a ski medic or something on the mountain!

@@koreanfreak7433 you can work at the ski resort year round! In the summer they have mountain biking and other activities
Do you get to ski on your shift much?
Yep! Every day if you want to!

They used to hire a lot of people with J1 visa before Covid. They stopped for a bit in 2021/2022 but I think they are doing it again
do most people own their own equipment or do they rent? is renting expensive for staff?
If you work there almost everyone owns their own equipment
Renting is cheaper for staff but that cost will add up quickly bc you would need your gear every day
If your going for over a week just buy your stuff
OSHA wants to pay you a visit.. no harness one hand ladder climbing on camera ???
Hey! Does wearing balaclava prevent you from tanning? Does it really work?
Mine worked like a charm…highly recommend getting one if u can
