I was asked by Raphael to explain a bit more about the mechanism for animating the Dalek dome under radio control.

@cyberfez I bought this motor:
www.trossenrobo... - higher torque.
Along with the mounting bracket and the wheel was the closest I could get to the skate wheel size. I shimmed the two skate wheels up so that the whole thing was level.
Also the weight of the wiper motor above keeps the wheel firmly on the track.
The central pivot is just an aluminium rod.

That Rf reciever is only necessary for the radio control element of the rotation mechanism I assume. Am I correct?

Thanks heaps man for answering my question. That is the simplest version I have seen. That driver you have is a sabertooth I think. I would like to see the motor specs and the wheel. cheers Raphael

i want to make a moving dalek that can say phrases. how could i get it to talk?
i want it to say things that it would say in the show.

Buy yourself a few cheap mp3 boards. You can buy rpthem on ebay from as little as £1 each. Then just get a sequential switching unit, connect it all up , an diddy Darlek will repeat all the phrases you have pre recorded.
