I use to ride split reins on all my snaffles when I rode in the feedyard but when started doctoring grass cattle I found that since I was getting on and off a million times a day a mecate worked alot better for me
You should always use rein stoppers on a martingale, or else you run the risk of having your rings will slide too far, and force your horse backwards, and cause them to break at the poll, which will put them too far behind the vertical.
I would recommend rein stops on this mecate too when you ride with a martingale just to prevent what could be an accident if one of the rings got caught somehow on the knot in the rope where it's tied to the slobber straps. Thank you for writing. That was a great question!
@@Joybellmorgans I make rein stops for the rope that the mecate in the video is made of. I don't have them on my website, but I do have them. If you'd like to order the mecate and slobber straps with a martingale and rein stops, I will put the proper rein stops on for you. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for your great questions!

I rode pens in a feedlot and always use split reins. I've been thinking about using a mecate instead
Expert people usually come up with a fantastic things. Hwo much does it cost for the holl sit & hwo to order it?

My horse (Morgan) needs a running martingale. I am guessing I can incorporate that into this system and I won't need rein stops!

@@DMTack Kind of impossible to slip them on thru the ends (the regular kind). I wonder what kind of rein stops would work?
