The ones I've seen are controlled over RF. That's why they work in a concert without line-of-sight connection to the controller. And can be interfaced to LD's DMX console, etc.
It would be better if they are RF controlled.

I know you posted this 2 years ago but wanted to let you know anyway. If you scratch off the wire solder underneath that says open mode it should work.

That is the vibration seitch on the back, You can dee the silk screen SW1, The crystal is on the top surface next to the MCU marked X1.
We have mostly reverse engineers these now
Great video man! I recently attended a event where I received one of these led bracelets. There is also a button by which the colors can be manually changed. But I wish somehow I could control them wirelessly.

It is not infrared. This would mean all bracelets would have to be pointed up to receive the beam. They are RF. I am able to put mine in my bag at the concert and it still changed color.
Some are infrared, some are RF. Mine does not have the IR sensors that his does.

Are you sure the back glass is not the vibration switch? the crystals you say may have another shape like the black pieces next to the processor, but the vibration switches are usually circular ...honestly i am designing a similar product and this is very interesting
Not really sure since I threw it away not long after. It was fun when it did work.
seems like a system similar to blinkfx's offerings. they sell an infrared system with bracelets just like that. the reason you can't control it with the remote is that blink's system is dmx. dmx is the universal standard used to control those moving lights and strobes and all that at concerts, and what blinkfx has is their own infrared lighting fixture that looks like your typical par can and plugs into a dmx console.
Ahh well. I wont be spending more effort on the darn thing as I do not have the equipment to make the transmitting signal easily.

I got a pixmob bracelet from a conference, and it doesn't even respond to movement ever since I left.
It's sad to see these one time use products that goes in the trash after.

Theres a transmitter that is attached to audio that gos with beat sending radio signals.
=D If only I had the transmitter I could analyze it a bit more.
