Amazing solution thank you
Most welcome
Hi, thank you for such an informative video. May I have your clarification on the long spreading lipids? Do you mean that we need long carbon chain or long play time? Thank you.
Hi Venus, long spreading as in long play time - so they spread easily on the skin, and with them, spread UV filters evenly over the skin. Happy formulating!
Thank you Ma for the video. Very superb and informative.
Thank you.
Excellent demo as always Belinda
Quick question, how did you determine the SPF of the formula
Thanks for watching! The calculator can be used as a guide to help you predict SPF but you still need to conduct and hold full SPF testing and results that comply with your country requirements before you can put the product onto the market. You can learn how to formulate sunscreens with our Certificate in Advanced Cosmetic Science program: personalcarescience.com.au/CosmeticScience/CertificateinAdvancedCosmeticScience-478/ or Diploma of Personal Care Formulation: personalcarescience.com.au/CosmeticScience/DiplomaofPersonalCareFormulation-479/
thank you for the great video. How about an option for more darker skinned people? As this is quite white, most dark skinned people will want something with a colour in? However, my understanding if there any pigments to change the colour are added, that will decrease the SPF factor? Any suggestions please? Thank you Belinda :)
Darker skinned people don't need a high SPF in a sunscreen, their skin colour is already providing significant protection! An SPF15 - 20 is more than enough and you can also use some zinc oxide for opacity (then iron oxides for colour) to get the SPF required. Try this video - just change the titanium dioxide for zinc oxide (and a lot less of it!) and a lot more iron oxides: ua-cam.com/video/lTvGJTiRIR0/v-deo.html Hope this helps, happy formulating! I am also working on a foundation with colours present (even for darker skin) to release in July... please subscribe and stay tuned ;)
Killed my dreams of making my own sunscreen at home. Very informative. I would love to see a non-waterproof recipe if that's simpler and can be done with Non-nano zinc Oxide. I've heard that mixing this powder with my daily lotion will make my lotion have an spf. I just wonder, how much of an spf and how much non-nano zinc oxide is safe to use in my lotion? How long will it last out of water? And many, many more questions.
Thank you for this idea, we’ll see if it fits into our video schedule. In the meantime, you can learn with us. Please contact us for course information and which course is going to best suit you: info@personalcarescience.com.au
Just don't! Buy a sunscreen made in a lab. Making your own sunscreen offers basically negative protection because there is so much that goes into it. Remember that synthetic chemicals aren't necessarily harmful and natural products aren't necessarily safe.
Hi, Thank you for the information you give us. How can I make gel sunscreen from this Ingredients
Aqua, Alcohol, Glycerin, Avobenzone, Isopropyl Myristate, Ceteareth - 20, Carbomer, Methylparaben, Triethanolamine, Preservative. Please can you write me the steps shortly?
Hi, I have 3 questions. Is this formula a 100% inorganic formula? Also do you sell this? (Because it’s something I’d be interested in buying). If not, you know any brands that have a similar production process as you’ve demonstrated here?
Could you show the suncreen efficiency under the uv filter camera
Hi, I admire your work!, I want to know if it's possible to make this recipe a sunscreen stick?
No, you’d need to make a stick formula which is quite different to this emulsion. I’ll add that to my list!
Thank you Belinda for this very informative video. Could you please share the formulation with me. Many thanks.

Hi Belinda, can you also cover BASF's Uvinul Easy, the ready to use UV blend?
Hi Jeremy, I haven't used this material so you could potentially use it - please speak with your BASF rep directly about how much to use to achieve your desired SPF and their formulation recommendations to ensure compatibility and long term stability. I hope this helps!

I've been having a tough time finding ways to formulate a sunscreen and push to production. I am aware that the product would need to be passed through testing, which I have. How can I at least get started with formulation that is ready for lab testing for FDA approval?

You can use very light esters or silicones but you need a spreading agent that is lipid based to get an even film on the skin. Hope this helps!

hi belinda, its definitely reliable SPF info on internet.thanks, Please could you solve my query,,,
according to common regulation we can add zinc oxide and titanium dioxide upto 25% in a formula. I am confused on these 25% active limit...is this 25%-- individual OR sum of zno and tio2. Thanks.
Hi Jabby, different countries have different limits, to answer this properly, please tell me which country you are specifically asking about?
@@theinstituteofpersonalcare6401 hi thanks for reply..I got this from USFDA. ,,there is separate limit for tio2 upto 25% and zno upto 25%. but when we use both in our formula then this 25% will be individual active limit.???????means we can use both ZnO under 25 and Tio2 under 25 .OR
zno + tio2 must be under 25. .,,thanks for answering my queries.
