My initial point was that Opel models in the 60's were the closest to the US automotive industry European brand in terms of design and overall mood. Made or just owned by GM - it's not that important (although many parts on these vintage Opels carry the GM stamp), the American influence is more than obvious, especially in Diplomat/Admiral, Commodore A/Rekord C, Manta A, the GT, Kapitan etc. Which is cool :)
@snupcho the other day is saw an old cadillac deville from the 50s... that thing had electric seats! the americans were pioneers in automotive design.. unfortunately they lost their way in the 70s trying to copy rice bombs and thus clearing the way for us germans to take over the automotive world. however, american cars will never be forgotten and still remain as some of the most fun to drive. its all about the smiles per gallon!
@applesmurfen Opel is made by GM so your comment is pointless. This car, as well as Rekord/Commodore were sold in South America under Chevrolet badge. You may say that those old Opels were the closest to the american cars in the european market back then. And if you think american standards in car building from that time suck, you know nothing about vintage cars.
@oOOpIIIqOOo Yes I've seen a 60s Buick Riviera with A/C and electric windows :) The only problem is that those days are gone forever. Cars will never be what they were. Nowadays most of the cars are a plastic pile of shit full of crappy electronics, weak suspension and boring design.

Yes, I have heard about him... The Lopez effect.
