I was going back and forth on getting this monopod vs one of the new Leofoto monopods. Thanks for the review, I think I'll pull the trigger on it. Looks great.
Oh definitely! Leofoto has some great stuff, and awesome colour options… but I haven’t seen anything from them that does all the extra tricks that this Sirui does. Just my opinion (obvi), but it’s the only monopod I’ve seen out right now that I absolutely had to have, and had to make a video on… because it’s seriously that good. 😜
@@bradleymccoy7011 I love that… I definitely think the 165 was a smart choice. Are you planning on making a video on it? I’d love to see a “real world video” about that version!
Thank Charlie for this INFORMATIVE video. I love it when you declare on you title that this is NOT a sponsored video. On top of that your review is top notch because you DEMONSTRATE all of its features that I need to know.
@@mauriciolee7349 Thank you soo much for that incredible comment. 🙏🏼 I’m soo sorry I hadn’t caught it sooner though, as my YT comment settings were a bit off. But I definitely appreciate that a ton. I think I’ll be doing more of these real world reviews, so it’s inspiring to hear that someone is watching. Thank you again!!!
Thanks so much for watching! You absolutely should check it out. And if you buy from the Sirui site directly they don’t charge tax, and shipping ended up being free SUPER quick! Let us know how it goes, and your thoughts if/when you pick yours up! Cheers!!!
Apart from being a bit heavy for a monopod, it works really well. As I often use it with larger lenses, the slightly heavier weight isn't really noticeable. It's so easy to adjust the height so less chance of missing the shot and the built in little tripod and head come in handy too. Being an engineer, I appreciate how well designed and built it is.
Is there any quick way to "straighten" (vertically) the pole section once you've tilted it on the ballhead at the base? It almost looke like you pushed down and it righted itself.
Hi. Thanks for a deep review. May I ask how tall You are? i'm 175cm and wonder if it's not too short. There is also 165cm version and I find it hard to choose form these two sizes.
I tested one out at a show yesterday…. The one I tried needed very little to move it when locked 😮… nice idea ..probably might of brought it .. but settled on a 3 legged thing Alana with feet… seemed better build quality
I have the Alana on my list along with this Sirui. Your comment makes me wonder even more. Could you say the quality with the Alana is significantly superior?
Thanks for the heads up - I was going to buy one, I was also looking at the new cobra strike and YC-Onions new monopod. I really want the best built one to be honest.
This one looks better. I bought and returned the new Komodo. Hated it as all the fittings were very stiff including the feet and they didn't sit correctly so the monopod wobbled or leant. I found the head connection to the high hat feet way to stiff for my aging knuckles.

Thanks for the review I am going to take a look at one of these monopods in a few days and hope the quality is top notch

I always worry I'd pull the quick release by mistake but great review unlike the Sirui videos which really tell you nothing.

Do you think it's worth having the little extension pole, I was thinking I could use it on a table top for a downward shot on to food and drink
Why not. It might come in handy.
Is it steady?
Yes. It feels very solid.
Lovely video. Though can notify the previous model number? Is it AM 404-FL?
Informative video. One question. Is the length that the monopod auto-extends fixed or can it be varied? Thanks!
I ordered mine yesterday. Here in Oz, they have a 20% discount for Easter.
How have you found it.
It's beautifully engineered and works well.
foot lever for the base would be better....
Can you use the extension rod just with the feet

Sold !!!!
That’s great! Please let me know what you think when you get it!!!
Why you sell it? How long have you use it? Is it so bad? Please share your view. I am looking to buy it. Thanks.
Can we lock it at any length? Or is it all or nothing?
Did you ever figure out an answer to this?
@@HannahConrad26 Yes. They finally replied and confirmed that it is indeed lockable at any length.
@@ThaiMac amazing, thank you!
Glad you showed that you can use your own ballhead and be relegated to the quick release place. Great review.

Glad they didn’t add the word pro
In this 😮
Haha… The next version will be a “Pro”… then a “Pro Max”… “Pro Max EXTREME!!!”
@@HeartHappyMedia yes it's coming 🤣
