Good video I just purchased a sc500hw its a rear drive mower with the your pace drive system. I like Cub's, I have had many in the past they are good running machines 👊
Came across you’re video investigating cubs new “INTELLIPOWER” engine featured on their new walk behind mowers when I noticed I own a similar mower as yours made by craftsman. The 4WD feature is exactly the same and to be honest I wasn’t impressed but the 196cc engine was sweet. I ended up selling mine to a neighbor. I think it’s funny how MTD for the most part manufacturers all these mowers and just rebrand them. Thanks for your time and great video.
Good review. I was thinking of purchasing one of these cub cadets for my mom. She can walk behind it but has a hard time pulling the handle to start it. The electric start is just the thing for her. I know it is pricey but it will help her tremendously.
I would have suggested a Honda due to the fact that none of the others has a charging system on the engine for the battery. They aren't bad in price either in comparison and some models you could get a blade brake and hydrostatic transmission for true variable speed operation. If you are in the States, it's a shame you can't get them anymore after all of the inventory is sold off.
About the only thing that could make this mower any better, would be to make the handle height adjustable. I am 6'2", and my room mate is 5'7", so we have very different comfort levels.
I wonder if newer ones have the handle that can be adjusted to 3 different positions, I have a late 2017 Troy-Bilt and 2021 Craftsman mower and there's three different holes for the handle bolts to go through to select the height, I've had several 2016 and older MTD made mowers I've had that the handle only had one position.
I have the Sc500 hw with the front wheels that pivot, I hated this the back wheels will just spin ruining my lawn front wheels will stay sideways, I been looking for a replacement for same price 547.00 with shipping - your review is excellent review all features including 4 wheel drive, for the same price I'm getting a better mower SC500 had 159 power backwheel drive SC700 196 power this has front, & backwheel drive or 4 wheel drive at the sametime Thank you for you review Its made better then my SC500 Cub Cadet self propelled SC500 was discontuned I bet because the pivot front wheels stay sideways you have trouble pushing it straight. I been looking at Honda Toro they turn me off because of power they had & problems people had with them. From your video you helped me by explaining the features & I I purchased the SC700 on 09-16-2019 you helped me to purchase Cub Cadet again. after 1 week reviewing all self propelled mowers
I personally owned a rear wheel drive cub cadet self propelled mower with the caster wheels. The only thing I didn't like was adjusting the front casters. I never had issues with the pivoting wheels or tearing up my grass. My mower lasted 10 years. You can still get the SC500 with the caster wheels. You will probably like the SC700 more than your SC500 and I hope it gives you years of good service. Thank You for your comments.
I just bought this Cub Cadet 21" 160cc Honda Powered, 3-in-1 Gas Walk-Behind, Self-Propelled Lawn Mower with Front-Wheel Drive and will get ship to me in a few days? Do you know what batteries to I need to order and the links. Thank you
Looking for a usa made mower and came across cub cadet. Looks awesome. I just wish it cut lower. My bermuda grows like crazy and looks better and healthier at 1" and under
I just bought this one and am putting it together tomorrow . Is there a speed adjustment on these. Does it stay at your walking pace or can it be adjusted
I've been looking for a blade break with the bail, and the description had my hopes up, but the operation is/was that this mower is actually engine stop when letting go of the bail. Another facet is with the front wheel drive, it doesn't mow right up to the obstruction, as the blade is pretty far back. Is this a Briggs OHV?
PowerMore is Cub's and MTD's in-house designed engine. The funny thing is most of the PowerMore line is based off of Honda's GX line of commercial engines. Back 3 years ago, the only mower with a good blade brake clutch was anything Honda made with Roto-Stop.
Hi thanks for the review, very well done.Couple questions:1. Is it easy to operate in reverse?2. Could you actually just push mow without using the front or rear wheel drive if you wanted to?
My girlfriend loves that trailer. It's called the cub cadet hauler. You can tow it with a tractor or put handles on it and wheel it around the garden. I'll do a review on that soon.
Very nice tutorial but it would be nice to get more info, does it cut good up steep grades ,or side ways on ditches how fast is it how well does it mulch does the bagger get clogged does it leave clumps .we need more info 👍good tutorial if someone's not owned a lawn mower before .
I understand wanting more info.. There is so many variables cutting grass. The grass in the south in sand cuts different than grass in the north in clay soil.. Cutting on banks and ditches would vary with the person using the mower. Providing the most info i can in a short time is what i try to do. Thanks for the feedback.
*My 21'-inch 'Cadet' has an odd problem it did not have last year...the right drive-wheel is spinning very fast and not really getting any traction!* *WTH?* *I see nothing wrong and it runs perfect...but that wheel is just spinning waaaaaay too fast!*
i try not to give any personal opinions on any of the equipment. I will be doing videos on as many different makes and models as i can. I really just try to show everybody everything i know about the mower. I only used the mower for about an hour, So my opinion really wouldn't be valid.
What was the price? Do they offer a model without electric start but with all same features? Maybe my next small mower. Have a snapper RWD now, pulls like a tractor. Many hills in northeast TN.
Im planing getting a KUBOTA W821SC and W821sc-au from U.K or austrlia wich priced at $1,660.00 and $1,516.00 plus there 21'' kubota w821 sc and w821sc-au mowers are with solid steel shaft driven with steel wheels
This is fairly informative, however it is nowhere close to a review. Its a pretty good overview, Ill give you that. But to claim its a review, you kinda have to give your impressions about this mowers performance. Maybe compare it to a similar offering from a competitor. Thanks for the overview, because Im looking to buy this exact same mower. But I really want to know about its actual performance in a working scenario. Is this thing worth my 600 or so dollars? Will I be buying a new one in 3 years? Is maintenance (replacement parts) going to be an issue?
Wow. There's a whole lot of shit going on there. Never cared for the "pull this lever to control speed" style of self propulsion. This has two of them. No thanks.
This was not a review. It's a tutorial on the features and how to start it up. Nothing about how it handles, cuts, or compares to other mowers for the price and class. I could go down to the Home Depot and read all about it. Maybe that's why you're having trouble with UA-cam.

TractorTread does that mower have a Briggs engine on it?
china produced engine with the Cub Cadet label on it. So far they held up pretty good
TractorTread. Thank you!
What kinda of top speed does it have? how does it cut at top speed? It looked kinda slow in the video
It now has a Honda 190 CC engine on it making it one of the best buys available. Thanks for your time.
I'm buying one today...done my homework on other brands. Best warranty on the mower I've found. Thanks for the review.
I'm picking one up tomorrow for $100 bucks. No battery, but starts on the first pull. Thank you, CraigsList!

Great explanation of the features of the mower. Just bought one like it.
Outstanding overview of the mower. Thanks.

Do you still have this 4 years later? Still like it? Issues?

Great review, I am thinking of getting one.
Had one for 3 years loved it just don't love it to nobody
Looking for a usa made mower and came across cub cadet. Looks awesome. I just wish it cut lower. My bermuda grows like crazy and looks better and healthier at 1" and under
Cub Cadet wasn't the only one made in the US, up until last year Honda made them there too.
Great review!
hi nice mower was hoping u would cut with me mower and on hills to see if mower stick on hills or ditch lines.
So how do you control the walking speed ?
Great review.
So do they still make this model?
I just bought this one and am putting it together tomorrow . Is there a speed adjustment on these. Does it stay at your walking pace or can it be adjusted
I just bought one and its still in the box. trying to figure out if you can use Mob[le one synthetic 10w30 in it
@@flytechbass1979 What was the outcome? Can you put synthetic 10w30 in it? I am wanting to do the same.

Hello I have the same unit and need to replace the carburetor.. Do you know what carburetor I would need to order?..thanks
Where can I buy one of those
Had a string that how do you string
What is the battery for if it’s a gas lawn mower? Do you need to charge it and give it gas? Or just one of the 2?
Matthew Vehige the battery runs the electric starter. Did you not pay attention?
I noticed that there is a cub cadet trailer that can be used as a wheel barrow, flat bed in the background and i have the same exact Cub Cadet trailer
My girlfriend loves that trailer. It's called the cub cadet hauler. You can tow it with a tractor or put handles on it and wheel it around the garden. I'll do a review on that soon.
Are the height adjustment notches plastic? Kinda looked like the lever was metal but the extending pieces that it snaps-onto are plastic.
yes, the notches are plastic
@@TractorTread unfortunately, all you need to know
What's the advantage of 4wd self propelled push mower?
Does hills

I love it. It looks like a riding mower with no placce to sit !!!

This is not a review. It's a specs explanation.A review would tell me about his impression of mowing with the mower contrasted with past mowers
bought one today $450 at mowers direct
Will the pull start work if the battery isn't charged? Got a new one today and after 9 hours charge neither work. At least the manual pull...?
Thank you very much 😉
most innovative home owner mower. too bad there isn't a commercial version with awd
super20dan it is 4 wheel drive?
@@thebrightshift201 its front and rear well drive combined. you can use either or both together. fantastic idea.
Was there a throttle control lever on this machine ?????? Or did I miss something!!!!!!
no throttle control
Can you use Mob[le one synthetic 10w30?
Pretty sure I saw 10W-30 on the dipstick tube...you could use Mobil 1 or any other full syn. I use a full syn 5/30 in 4 stroke mowers and blowers

Stick with your Snapper. Much better machine and engine is made in the USA. Cub Cadet uses Chinese engines.
How to string it
It's not a weedeater. JS
