shows how much dedication he does have for the band knowing that he has a 50% chance he might faint on stage and still he goes out there becuase he doesnt want to let the fans down. thats dedication man
As being both human and a musician myself, I really respect this guy for going up on that stage and doing what he does best, knowing what could happen. (I rather repeat someone else partly then doing thumbs up, this is more real).
I remember this vividly It was a shock to see it happen - especially as it was the first time i've really listened to Machine head ( i only went to see slipknot) but it still gives me goosebumps hearing the crowd chanting machine fucking head! when robb flynn came back on stage. and when they wheeled the guitarist round the walkway/bar area. and.... his arms were fucking huge :| mind you i was 7 stone :|
It's sad seeing things like that, it's like, I don't have words, I feel sad for him, and in the same time, it's like the soul of the guitar goes away until he regains his conciousness again.
i hope phil can figure this out. it scares me. i have known phil since the 80' and never knew he had this issue. falling down and passing out in front of the metallica crowd.. thats just scary! phil. rest a bit your wife and kid need you more than a band! machine head are my all time fave local bay band! but can do it. you are amazing and do not want to lose you for good! larry
good ol Phil, as you can see as he falls he is still trying to tap an awesome solo! i heard he was dehydrated this was my birthday! but i was at Cardiff and I must say they fucking kick ass as a live act!!! \m/\m/
Always seems to be when they're playing Halo..... anyway, I have ALOT of respect for Phil, the fact that he has a heart condition and STILL plays live knowing that it can strike at any point is nothing short of epic, can't show fear in machine head, you'll get chewed up and spat back out. \m/
i am a big machine head fan and i hope this guy can get some kind of treatment to fix this problem i would hate for something more serious to happen to him
this is actually something i can relate to. I have a genetic heart condition that causes arryhthmias and they found out i had it because i passed out onstage during a performance of a play. had to miss two performances and i was pissed. so now i have a pacemaker and defibrialator in me. and im 15. so i know how sucky that has to be for Phil.
Phil has a heart condition where the pump of his heart is insufficient for his body. It means blood doesn't get to his brain and causes blackouts during times such as this. Machinehead really have no need to apologise. They have true fans who completely understand- that's how metal is.
Why do people take the mick outta this, seriously? It's a severe heart condition. Search Wiki if you're actually a MH fan.. which most appear to be anyway :) From what I know, indeed my friend has this condition, he has a pacemaker that kicks in when he collapses to keep him alive. Without it he'd be dead. So get a grip, it's a miracle that he can still perform. Get behind the guy!
he could have fainted at the end of the song not in the middle of soloLOL?!?!? it was such a pity that the couldnt perform anymore that night I was enjoying my self all of a sudden!!!! wtf
Phil has a medical condition where his heart sometime doesnt pump enough blood, causing faints. I thappened recently as well. Phil is a good guitarist, but maybe its times they find a new guitarist. Phil is becoming a health liability.

I have so much respect for Phil not letting his condition stop him from doing what he loves even though it is pretty extreme.
*sigh* still remember this like it was yesterday! I sound old haha xD poor Phil!!!

my father died as well, i hope, i Won't get conditions like that.... Machine head is awesome, and so is Phil.
Machine head = Gods

You´re right a metal band it's not just about "playing" it´s more fellowship

@ieatcheez4breakfast why not? Dying on stage would be like the ultimate moment of awesomesauce....

@LordShikarii Υeah indeed :-)
Why does it always happen when they perform Halo's solo?
I thought phil was messing around man, he just fell, well ended tho, glad he's all good
@moltenriches yeah, the only other song i've seen him pass out on is clenching, lol
@joedude91 actualy hes had it for the last 17 years, but im sure his father passing away made it worse :(

i was there i laughted but i was pissed cause there wasen gona play anymore
time to find another guitar player. that guy needs to take it easy.
Has anyone else noticed he mostly collapses during Halo? Lol
i'd like to see you play halo (especially the solos as he is playing here) on guitar and not miss note when you feel like you're about feint >:(
he could have fainted at the end of the song not in the middle of soloLOL?!?!? it was such a pity that the couldnt perform anymore that night I was enjoying my self all of a sudden!!!! wtf
Well what friends wouldn't stop playing?

@joedude91 Na he was just shreading to hard and God said he couln't take it anymore so he made him pass out.
