    I wore a holster like this everyday for 15 years as my off duty, really comfortable if you have a tshirts underneath..

      Yea, I was thinking this would be good for colder/cooler weather when I had a shirt between me and the holster and then a jacket over and concealing the gun. I would be wearing it against my bare skin.

    I use the DeSantis pancake with a G43X every day 10+ hours. Its hides perfectly under a tshirt or polo - very minimal printing. Very comfortable.

    Based on most of the comments I've read, I probably won't watch the video.
    But, I can say that the DeSantis OWB holster my wife bought me for my big chunky Smith and Wesson 629 snub nose is magnificent. Just smelling it is sublime.

    I have this holster for a Walther P99 and a Gen 3 G19 but without the scabbard snaps.
    I use the Desantis Mini Slide for my Glock 19 and it's the best holster out there for this firearm. The leather quality is damm superb on this holster, stitching is awesome and you can tell they really take care in making good quality holsters.
    As for comfort, I swear I forget I am even wearing it, it's that comfortable. I use this holster now for my everyday carry. I used to use the Blackhawk Serpa conceal holster but it's not nearly as comfortable and this holster conceals much better.
    Also, you did not mention or maybe you did...if you have the Gen 3 Glock 19...the Gen 3 Glock 23 will also fit this same holster. I have a Gen3 G23 and I switch between both for everyday carry so this holster is a definite winner in my book. Now with the Desantis Mini Slide non scabbard model, there is NO retention. What I mean, there's no button or snap to utilize the firearm in drawing it.
    Also, it does not have the double belt loop to put in two positions, straight up or canted forward...its a canted forward holster only which I prefer and when I had ordered it off Amazon, I didn't notice that feature until I saw this video.
    I carry OWB when conceal carrying as IWB just doesn't work for me due to my body type and I honestly do not wanna go out and by more pants just to dress around the gun.
    I just bought a Gen 3 Glock 30 earlier this month and will be ordering this holster for it as well. Maybe I can post a video review of all three when I can get the chance, it would be my first
    Anyways, great review man, I have watched a bunch of your videos in the past and all your videos are great reviews, keep them coming...peace out...🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

    i wish you wouldnt have edited the reholster, and i wish you would have tried it at the 3 o'clock position with no forward cant.
    i carried a 1911 colt defender in a crossbreed supertuck for the better part of 15 years, somewhere along the way i swapped out and carried a cheap kydex holster and a shield 9mm. its causing me to now have some hip problems.
    knowing what i know how i would have either stuck with the crossbreed, or stuck with OWB, and not messed with the check kydex stuck into my waisteband.
    great vid..
    cheers

    Loved my DeSantis belt slotted leather holsters for my Sig P365 and my Taurus 627 4" .357. I did have a full-size 10 mm 1911 that was just a little too heavy for my tiny body.

    If you've worn leather holsters for many years, or even owned other leather products, you know that they all have a lengthy break-in period. But after that, they can become very soft and comfortable.

    Have been wearing this De Santis holster for 3 years daily. Side rub during concealed carry only happens with Gen 4 Glock other generation are easy on the skin. Like all external concealed carry holster I have used, shirt tail length and flowing tails are what is required. Good holster for the money, needs a break in period of many draws from the holster, do not oil this holster.

    Vertical is nice for cross draw if you’re sitting.

    • @MikeDCWeld
      @MikeDCWeld 6 років тому

      I find vertical also works better than canted when worn at 3 o'clock. I, personally, find it nearly impossible to draw cleanly from a holster with a forward cant. I actually wound up setting my Alien Gear OWB holster to the backwards cant setting for wear on or just behind the point of my right hip.

    • @Harlem55
      @Harlem55 3 роки тому

      @@MikeDCWeld Wearing a firearm backwards of the 3:00 position is bad for retention. The most rudimentary retention technique is to seat your hand on the gun as if you're shoving the gun back in the holster. With the gun backwards of 3:00 you can't do this with enough downward pressure- and you shouldn't rely on the holster itself for retention. Also, as a general rule, you try to keep anything hard away from/off your back. Its the same reason most cops have quit carrying handcuffs in the back of the belt- the theory goes that you're eventually going to end up landing on it- and when you do it will be funny for me but not so much for you. landing on a gun is enough to cause a bone fracture if it doesn't end up literally putting a bullet up your ass or elsewhere in the unmentionables.

    • @MikeDCWeld
      @MikeDCWeld 3 роки тому +2

      @@Harlem55 I'm generally much more worried about concealment than retention. In order to take a gun from someone, you must first know about it. If things get to the point where someone finds out about my gun, it's almost certainly out of the holster and retention becomes a different issue. I never wore my gun far enough back to cause issues in the event of a fall, just enough to allow it to disappear in the natural drape of my shirt.

    • @Harlem55
      @Harlem55 3 роки тому +1

      @@MikeDCWeld Not necessarily- criminals do the research just as everyone else. Thus the "T-shirt" trick is a dead give-away unless you're trying to pull of a 90s teenager look. A man in his 40s wearing a shirt that way is a pretty good indication of concealed carry. Rather, you're violating the first rule of warfare: assume that your would-be opponent is smarter, more capable, and better trained than you are.

      c k it looks nicer and will be a little easier on your hand/arm if you accidentally smack it while doing stuff. It is also _theoretically_ less likely to damage your gun's finish, although that is more likely a matter of the quality of design and manufacture than material selection.

    • @SmokeytheJeep
      @SmokeytheJeep 5 років тому +2

      Quality leather will last years longer. Kydex, like all plastics, will eventually brittle after enough time.

    • @alexbarry689
      @alexbarry689 5 років тому +3

      @@MikeDCWeld leather is harsher than kydex on the finish of a firearm. It makes more contact and is coarser. They make leather stropes to sharpen blades because the fine grain polishes the metal. Look at any moderate to well-used leather holster and firearm and you can see the finish from the firearm on the holster at friction points and bear metal at the same points on the firearm. So common they gave it a name, "holster wear".
